MORAVIAN’S MATTHEW LUTCZA & NICCO DALPIAZ NAMED LANDMARK CONFERENCE MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, N.J. --- Junior pole vaulter/sprinter Nicco Dalpiaz (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy HS) of the Moravian College men’s track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week while junior distance runner Matthew Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, PA/Delaware Valley HS) earned Runner of the Week honors for their performances last week.

Dalpiaz, one of four first-place finishers for the Greyhounds, captured the pole vault at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tri-Meet, clearing an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 4.70 meters (15 feet, five inches).  Dalpiaz, who was named the Landmark Conference Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for a second straight week, won the event on fewer jumps than teammate Timothy Layng.  On the track, Dalpiaz, pictured at right, was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.41 seconds, and he was fourth in the 55-meter dash in 6.77 seconds.  The Greyhound men placed third at the meet of regionally ranked teams.

Lutcza, pictured at left, set the school record and won the 5,000-meter run at the MIT Tri-Meet with an ECAC qualifying time of 15:17.64.

Moravian’s track & field teams will return to action on Friday, February 11th when they travel to The New York City Armory for the Lafayette College-Rider University Games.
