THREE GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the seventh NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of February 6th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is sixth in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.6.  Blair, pictured at right, has recorded 80 blocked shots in 22 games this year, breaking her own single season record of 78 set last season.

Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) is 36th the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 18.3, and she is 85th in free throw percentage at 81.6 percent.  Heffner, pictured at left, has scored 402 points in 22 contests this season for Moravian, reaching double figures in 21 of 22 games and 20-plus points in nine contests.  She is also 124-of-152 at the foul line.

Senior guard/forward Emily Smith (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) is 78th in the country in free throw percentage at 81.9 percent.  Smith, pictured at right, is 59-for-72 at the foul line this year in 17 games, and she is one of four Moravian players shooting over 80 percent at the line this season.

The Greyhounds are 11th in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.1 percent.  Moravian has made 455-of-598 free throws this season, and the squad is second in blocked shots with an average of 6.6 per contest with 145 total blocked shots.

Moravian is 14-8 overall and 9-2 in Landmark Conference action, and the Greyhounds will return to action on Friday, February 11th in a Landmark Conference contest at Juniata College with tip-off at 5:30 p.m. in Huntingdon.
