MORAVIAN TRACK & FIELD TEAMS RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III REGIONAL TEAM INDEX

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College men’s & women’s track & field teams are both ranked in the Mideast Region in the fourth NCAA Division III Regional Team Index of the 2011 indoor season released by the U S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Wednesday.  The Greyhound women moved up to second while men remained third place in the top-ten regional rankings.

The Greyhound women have a total of 174.51 points.  Johns Hopkins University is currently first in the Mideast Region with 262.84 points while Elizabethtown College slipped to third at 147.93.

The Greyhound men have a total of 154.27 points and remained third after being sixth in the initial rankings and fourth two weeks ago.  Haverford College leads the Mideast Region with 259.04 points while Gwynedd-Mercy College is second at 195.38 points.

The scoring system for the teams shall be the sum of two factors measured per individual/relay performance on the national descending-order lists: place on the descending order list and a weighed value of the individual/relay performance based on the field (“bonus”).  Complete information and the polls can also be found at http://www.ustfccca.org/rankings/division-iii-rankings.

Moravian will return to action on Saturday, February 19th when they are set to travel to the Susquehanna University Indoor Open in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
