THREE GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the eighth NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of February 13th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is sixth in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.7.  Blair, pictured at right, has recorded 89 blocked shots in 24 games this year, breaking her own single season record of 78 set last season.

Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) is 45th the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 18.0, and she is 95th in free throw percentage at 81.0 percent.  Heffner, pictured at left, has scored 431 points in 24 contests this season for Moravian, reaching double figures in 23 of 24 games and 20-plus points in nine contests.  She is also 132-of-163 at the foul line.

Senior guard/forward Emily Smith (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) is tied for 75th in the country in free throw percentage at 82.1 percent.  Smith, pictured at right, is 64-for-78 at the foul line this year in 19 games, and she is one of four Moravian players shooting over 80 percent at the line this season.

The Greyhounds are seventh in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.3 percent.  Moravian has made 483-of-633 free throws this season, and the squad is second in blocked shots with an average of 6.5 per contest with 155 total blocked shots.

Moravian is 14-10 overall and 9-4 in Landmark Conference action, and the Greyhounds will close out the 2010-11 regular season in a Landmark Conference game at The University of Scranton on Saturday, February 19th at 2:00 p.m.
