THREE GREYHOUND WOMEN’S BASKETBALL PLAYERS RANKED IN NCAA STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the ninth NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Statistics Ranking of the 2010-11 season through games of February 20th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in two team categories.

Junior forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is third in the nation in blocked shots per game with an average of 3.8.  Blair, pictured at right, has recorded 96 blocked shots in 25 games this year, breaking her own single season record of 78 set last season.

Senior forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS) is tied for 40th the nation in points per game with a scoring average of 18.0, and she is 94th in free throw percentage at 80.9 percent.  Heffner, pictured at left, has scored 451 points in 25 contests this season for Moravian, reaching double figures in 24 of 25 games and 20-plus points in ten contests.  She is also 140-of-173 at the foul line.

Senior guard/forward Emily Smith (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg South HS) is tied for 59th in the country in free throw percentage at 82.9 percent.  Smith, pictured at right, is 68-for-82 at the foul line this year in 20 games, and she is one of four Moravian players shooting over 80 percent at the line this season.

The Greyhounds are sixth in the nation in free throw percentage at 76.7 percent.  Moravian has made 503-of-656 free throws this season, and the squad is second in blocked shots with an average of 6.6 per contest with 165 total blocked shots.

Moravian is 14-11 overall and was 9-5 in the Landmark Conference regular season, and the Greyhounds will return to action in a Landmark Conference Semifinal game at The University of Scranton on Wednesday, February 23rd at 5:30 p.m. It is the tenth straight postseason appearance for Moravian.
