RECCEK, WOLFSBERGER & LOHN TO COMPETE AT NCAA DIVISION III NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Kristie Reccek (Hellertown/Wilson HS) and freshmen Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) and Jennifer Lohn (Media/Penncrest HS) have qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championships which will be held at Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio from May 20th to 22nd.

Reccek, the Most Outstanding Athlete at the 1999 Middle Atlantic Conference after winning the titles in the 1,500 meters and the 3,000 meters, will compete in the 3,000 meters at the national meet on Friday at 6:50 p.m. Reccek is one of 20 runners in the event and her qualifying time of 10:06.53 is the eighth fastest in the field.

At last year’s national championships, Reccek finished 16th in the 3,000 meters.

Wolfsberger, who finished second to Reccek in the 1,500 and 3,000 meters at the MAC Championships and won the 800 meters, will compete in the 1,500 meters in the national championships. Wolfsberger qualified with a 4:36.83 at Haverford last Wednesday and will run in the first heat of 10 runners on Thursday at 5:20 p.m. There are two heats with the top four in each heat and the next four fastest times advancing to the championship race on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.

Lohn, the 1999 MAC Champion in the javelin, qualified with a throw of 39.02 meters (128 feet, 0 inches). She is in the second flight of 11 competitors, which will begin competition on Friday at 11:00 a.m. There are a total of 21 competitors in the javelin event with the top eight advancing to the championship finals on Friday afternoon.
