LADY GREYHOUND CROSS COUNTRY RANKED 8TH IN NATION

BETHELHEM, PA --- After a first place finish at the Muhlenberg College Invitational last weekend, the Moravian College women’s cross country team has jumped from 23rd to 8th in the nation in the latest NCAA Division III Women’s Cross Country National Rankings released on Wednesday. Moravian is the top ranked team in the Mideast Region.

The Lady Greyhounds, who opened the season with a sixth place finish at the Kutztown University Maroon & Gold Invitational and followed with a second place showing at the Lafayette Invitational and last weekend’s win, were ranked 19th in the preseason poll and then fell to 23rd in the first regular season poll of the year.

Leading the Lady Greyhounds this season are sophomore Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/ Riverside HS) and Emily Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS). Wolfsberger won first place at the Lafayette Invitational while Shertzer won the Muhlenberg Invitational this past weekend. Rounding out the top six for Moravian are junior Hannah Wood (Palm/Upper Perkiomen HS), senior Maria Grabowski (Churchville/Villa Joseph Marie HS) and sophomores Kim Jaick (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh HS) and Erin Boyle (Philadelphia/ Nazareth Academy).

Moravian is off the week and will return to action on Saturday, October 2nd at the Frostburg State (MD) College Invitational. The course will be the same as the one the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional will be run on November 13th.
