LADY GREYHOUND CROSS COUNTRY FALLS TO 19TH IN NATION
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Despite winning a Middle Atlantic Conference record seventh straight
MAC Championship this past weekend, the Moravian College womens cross country team
fell five spots to 19th in this weeks NCAA Division III National Poll.
The Lady Greyhounds, who have placed first or second in every invitational this season
except the season opening race at Kutztown University, were ranked 19th in the preseason
poll by have been as high as eighth during the regular season.
Moravian is led by sophomores Heidi Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) and Emily
Shertzer (Hummelstown/Lower Dauphin HS). Wolfsberger became the seventh straight
Lady Greyhound to win the MAC Individual Championship with a first place finish in 19:00.08
in Saturdays race. Shertzer was right on her heels, finishing second in 19:08.76.
The duo along with junior Hannah Wood (Palm/Upper Perkiomen HS) and sophomore Kim
Jaick (Coopersburg/Southern Lehigh HS) earned All-Conference honors for finishing
in the top ten.
Moravian will try to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held
on Saturday, November 20th at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, in the NCAA Division
III Mideast Regional to be held at Frostburg State (MD) University on November 13th.
