PFLUGER & WOLFSBERGER TO COMPETE AT NCAA MEET
BETHLEHEM, PA --- Senior Tim Pfluger (Slatington/Northern Lehigh HS) and sophomore Heidi
Wolfsberger (Moosic/Riverside HS) of the Moravian College mens and womens
indoor track & field teams will be competing at the 2000 NCAA Division III Indoor
Track & Field National Championships this weekend at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Pfluger, who had provisionally qualified in the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:55.4, was
15th on the performance list as of Sunday evening but when the qualifiers for
the national championships were released Monday evening, Pfluger was the 11th of
12 qualifiers. Pfluger becomes the first male track athlete at Moravian to compete in the
national championships since 1994. Pflugers preliminary race is slated for 5:15 p.m.
on Friday, March 10th and the championship race, which the top eight runners
qualify for, is at 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th.
Wolfsberger will also be competing in the 1,500 meters at the national championships for
the second time in her career. Wolfsbergers qualifying time of 4:41.3 ranks her eighth
of the 12 student-athletes in the championship meet. Wolfsberger will compete in the preliminary
at 5:00 p.m. on Friday and the top eight advance to Saturdays championship race at
2:00 p.m. Last spring, Wolfsberger advanced to the finals of the 1,500 meters at the outdoor
national championship meet.
