MATUCZINSKI & NOBLE NAMED TO NFCA ALL-REGION TEAM

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Sophomores Stacy Matuczinski (Bethlehem/Liberty HS) and Debbie Noble (Cranford, NJ/Cranford HS) of the Moravian College softball team have been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-East Region First Team announced Thursday.

The Greyhounds have posted a 24-10 record this spring and are seeded fourth heading into action at the NCAA Division III East Regional, which begins Friday at King’s College in Wilkes-Barre.

Matuczinski, a catcher, was named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star First Team this season after being on the second team as a freshman. Matuczinski is tied with Noble for the team high in hits with 38 this spring. She has also added 20 runs, 11 RBIs, seven doubles and a team leading 13 sacrifices. Matuczinski has started all but one game behind the plate for Moravian this season and she has committed just one error in 150 chances.

Noble, a designated player, was also named to the Commonwealth Conference All-Star First Team this year. In addition to her 38 hits, Noble leads the Greyhounds with 34 RBIs, four shy of the school record, and 13 extra-base hits including nine doubles, two triples and two of Moravian’s three homeruns. Noble has scored 21 runs this spring and is third with 100 at-bats despite missing two games with a pulled hamstring in March.
