MORAVIAN’S KETTERMAN-BENNER NAMED USTA/MIDDLE STATES COACH OF THE YEAR

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Moravian College head women’s tennis coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner, a native of Lititz, has been named the United States Tennis Association/Middle States Coach of the Year for 1999 it was announced at the annual meeting of the USTA/MS/Eastern Pennsylvania District.

The USTA/Middle States is comprised of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. Ketterman-Benner will be honored at the USTA/Middle States annual meeting at the Hershey Convention Center in February 2000.

Ketterman-Benner, who has led the Lady Greyhounds to a 99-9 record over the last six seasons, was also named the 1999 MAC Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year after leading Moravian to a 17-1 record this past fall and to the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship match for the fourth straight year. With a loss to the University of Scranton in the 1999 title match, the Lady Greyhounds had a 47-match winning streak snapped.

The squad captured the MAC Championship for three consecutive years in 1996, 1997 and 1998 and won the MAC Commonwealth title four times in 1994, 1996, 1998 and 1999.

Ketterman-Benner, who is a graduate of East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania and a member of the school’s Hall of Fame, was the 1998 USTA/Middle States Eastern Pennsylvania District Coach of the Year and also coached the 1999 Middle States Girls 18 and under Intersectional Team in San Rafael, California this past August. Ketterman-Benner also serves as Senior Women’s Administrator at Moravian and is head of the Physical Education Department.
