The seventh seeded Greyhounds overcame a nine-point
deficit to start the game to defeat second seeded Penn State Behrend, 72-56, in a quarterfinal game of the 2007 Eastern
Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Division III Southern Championship. In
the quarterfinal game, the Lions jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead before the Greyhounds
scored at the 16:24 mark on a lay-up by senior forward Kelly Applegate (Easton, PA/Wilson HS). Moravian eventually tied
the game at 14-14 with 9:58 remaining in the first half on a pair of free
throws by senior forward Jenny Hackleman
(Arroyo Grande, CA/Rutgers Prep {NJ] HS), and the Greyhounds would take a
17-14 lead on a three-pointer by senior guard Katie Rizman (Wall, NJ/St. Rose HS) 40 seconds later. Penn State Behrend forced a 19-19 tie but Moravian took the lead for
good on a jumper by freshman guard Kate
Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring
Harbor HS) with 7:06
until the intermission. The Greyhounds pushed their first half lead to 30-21
with 2:14 remaining; however, Moravian did not score the rest of the half and
went to the locker room with a 30-27 lead. The Greyhounds made ten of 27 field
goal attempts (37.0 percent), two of seven three-pointers and eight of ten free
throws in the first 20 minutes. The Greyhounds came out of the locker room in
the second half and quickly pushed the lead to double digits at 39-27 with
17:24 still to play. The Lions would pull back within six points, 41-35, at the
14:40 mark before Moravian began to pull away. Hackleman made a pair of free throws with 1:55 remaining in the
game to give Moravian its largest lead of the contest, 70-51. The Greyhounds
connected on 18 of 31 field goal attempts (58.1 percent), two of four
three-pointers and four of five free throws in the second half. Moravian had
three players in double figures led by Applegate
with a game high 16 points. Applegate
added seven rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Freshman guard Jessica Foran
(Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS) tossed in 12 points for the Greyhounds to
go with four rebounds, two assists and two steals while freshman forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS)
returned from an injury with 11 points, four rebounds and two assists. Harrison, Rizman and freshman guard Amanda
Brown (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven HS) each had eight points with

Moravian pulled off another upset, this time
defeating third seed Albright College, 71-60, to advance to the championship
game of the 2007 ECAC Division III Southern Championships. Albright jumped out
to an early lead and held a 17-8 advantage with 14:28 remaining in the first
half. The Greyhounds responded with an 18-2 run to take a 26-19 lead with 5:10
before halftime. Moravian's lead would reach nine points, 32-23, with 2:10 left
in the first half after a pair of free throws by Harrison. The Greyhounds

The title is Moravian's second ECAC Championship as the program won the 1987
crown, and it was Moravian's sixth trip to the finals in ten ECAC Southern
Championship appearances. The Greyhounds scored first but King's would have a
pair of one-point leads, first at 3-2, then 5-4. Moravian then went on a 9-0
run to take a 13-5 lead with 13:26 remaining in the first half, and the
Greyhounds controlled the game from that point. Moravian quickly pushed its

half. The Greyhounds went to the locker room with a 46-24 lead after shooting

Division III Preseason Top 25, opened its 2007 season with a 7-0 shutout of
Hunter (NY) College in the first game of the Atlantic versus East Challenge
hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, Virginia, behind the

walks in her no-hitter. The no-hitter was the 17th in Moravian history while
the 12 strikeouts were a career high for Pellicani.
The Greyhounds gave Pellicani all
the offense she would need in the third inning with a pair of runs. Junior
designated player Megan Ritchey (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown
HS) led off the inning with an infield single and would score on a ball hit
by sophomore outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth HS). Klepeisz, who had a stolen base,
crossed the plate on an RBI single by senior outfielder Lauren Homa (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West HS). Moravian extended
the lead to 3-0 in the top of the fourth inning when freshman pinch runner Chrissy McGlinn (Lansdale, PA/Gwynedd
Mercy HS) scored on a Hunter throwing error as Ritchey stole second base. The Greyhounds would strike for three
runs in the top of the fifth inning. Sophomore shortstop Jordan Oplinger (Allentown, PA/Parkland HS) and Klepeisz led off the inning with
back-to-back bunt singles. After a double steal, the duo would score on an RBI
single to left field by sophomore first baseman Sheri Bieniek (Lumberton, NJ/Rancocas Valley HS), and an error in
the outfield allowed Bieniek to move
to third base before scoring on another error. Moravian's final run of the game
came in the top of the seventh inning. Freshman first baseman Danielle Massa (Livingston, NJ/Livingston
HS) was hit by a pitch in her first collegiate at-bat and scored on
Hunter's fifth error of the game. The Greyhounds had nine hits in the game, all
singles, with Ritchey going
two-for-three.
The Greyhounds won their second game of the season
rallying to defeat Washington (MD) College, 5-3, at the Atlantic

jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning after two walks and a
pair of wild pitches started the inning. Moravian would score all five of its
runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for the victory. Homa walked to lead off the inning before junior second baseman Beth Paly (Whitehall,
PA/Whitehall
HS) singled to right center. Bieniek
hit an RBI single up the middle to score Homa
with the first run. After senior outfielder Justina Black (Orefield, PA/Parkland HS) reached on an error to
load the bases, sophomore designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) tripled to empty the

East Challenge hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a one-out, grand slam home
run. The Greyhounds responded with three runs in the bottom of the first
inning. Homa drew a one-out walk
before Paly homered
to left center. Black reached on an
error and scored on an RBI ground out by DeBonis.
Moravian tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when Klepeisz scored on a suicide squeeze
bunt by Homa after doubling earlier
in the inning. The Greyhounds won the contest with one out in the bottom of the
seventh inning. Klepeisz singled to
lead off the inning and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Homa. Paly followed with a single to right field to move Klepeisz to third base. Black then hit an infield pop fly that
was dropped allowing Klepeisz to
score. Moravian had eight hits in the game with two each by Paly and Klepeisz. Pellicani
earned her third victory of the season in the circle for the Greyhounds,
allowing four runs on six hits and four walks. Pellicani did strike out five batters.
The Greyhounds had a change in their final opponent
at the Atlantic versus East Challenge, but the switch did not matter to
Moravian as the team posted a 5-0 win over the University of Mary
Washington to finish the tournament with a 4-0
mark. The Greyhounds were scheduled to play Colorado
College; however, on the flight in, Colorado's uniforms and
equipment bags were lost leaving the team unable to play. DeBonis made her first collegiate start in the circle after missing
her entire freshman season with an injury. DeBonis
tossed a two-hit shutout with three walks and eight strikeouts for her first
collegiate win. Moravian would give DeBonis
all of the offense she needed in the top of the first inning. Klepeisz led off the game with a single
and moved all the way to third base on a sacrifice bunt by Homa. Paly followed with

top of the seventh inning. Senior outfielder Rebecca DeJulio (Vineland,
NJ/Sacred Heart HS) drew a
one-out walk and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by McGlinn. Massa followed
with an RBI single to score DeJulio.
Moravian had eight hits in the game.
