Softball – 26-6 (Landmark Conference 10-0)
Moravian captured its 16th
straight victory and moved into sole possession of first place in the Landmark
Conference with an 11-0, six-inning victory over The University of Scranton
behind a perfect game from freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman). The perfect
game was the first of Python's
career, and the Greyhounds' third of the season. It was also Python's second no-hitter of the season
and her seventh shutout of the year. The closest Python, who is now 13-2 on the year, would come to allowing a hit
was in the first inning when freshman outfielder Amanda Paulus (Easton, PA/Easton) threw
out Scranton's Erin Moreau at first base on a solid hit ball to right field.
Python had a
3-0 lead before she even went to the circle after Moravian scored three runs in
the top of the first inning. Senior outfielder Megan Ritchey (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown) hit a one-out double and
scored on a two-out RBI single by junior designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame).
Senior second baseman Kelly Santry (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) followed with a
two-run home run to left field for her first homer of the season.
The
Greyhounds extended their lead to 5-0 with a pair of runs in the top of the
fourth inning. Senior outfielder Erica Klepeisz (Nazareth, PA/Nazareth) led off the inning with

double of the game, driving in Falzarano.

their first loss in a month and earned a split of a non-conference doubleheader
with DeSales University at Blue & Grey Field, winning the second game, 1-0,
behind a three-hitter by junior Maria DeBonis.
DeBonis went the distance in the circle for Moravian despite
being listed as the designated player on the line-up card. Freshman Amie Ballo
(Andes, NY/Andes Central) technically gets the start for being listed as a starting
pitcher but Moravian used the flex rule to have DeBonis pitch the game. DeBonis is now
13-3 on the season after giving up three hits and a pair of walks while
striking out seven in the victory.
DeBonis gave herself a lead in the bottom of the first inning
