At 2007 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament at Wilkes-Barre, PA – Second Day Results

The Greyhounds had their four remaining singles players and doubles squad knocked out in the semifinals on the second day of the 2007 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament at Wilkes-Barre. Freshman Ian Box, the third seed in the first singles bracket, fell to top seed Mike Portonova of King'a College, 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals while senior Neil Caniga, the top seed of the second singles flight, lost to fourth seeded Alex Bruin of FDU-Florham, 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 1-0 (10-6). Moravian sophomore Keith Feinman was the second seed in the fourth singles bracket and fell to Andrew Voshell from Elizabethtown College, 6-3, 6-1 while sophomore Jeremiah Reinhart fell to top seeded Michael Kennedy of Drew University, 6-0, 6-1 in the sixth singles flight.

In doubles action, Box and Caniga, the second seed in first doubles, dropped their semifinal match to fourth seeded Vikram Rao and Jon Pivor of Drew University, 8-6.

At 2007 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament at Wilkes-Barre, PA – First Day Results

Moravian had four of six individuals and one of three doubles teams move past the quarterfinals as well at the 2007 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament in Wilkes-Barre. Three Greyhounds were seeded in the tournament and received byes in the first round of the singles tournament. In other first round action, senior Scott Shelbo defeated Andrew Symonette of Susquehanna University, 6-0, 6-2 at third singles while sophomore Jeremiah Reinhart rallied for a three set victory over James Dombach from Elizabethtown College, 3-6, 6-2, 1-0 (12-10) in sixth singles. Sophomore Lee Gustin was the only Greyhound to be knocked out in the first round, falling to Alex Jaslow of Drew University, 6-1, 6-3, at fifth season.

In quarterfinal action, second singles top seed senior Neil Caniga defeated Ryan Knarr of Elizabethtown College, 6-2, 6-1 while fourth singles second seed sophomore Keith Feinman earned a 6-1, 6-0 win over Ben Grassi of Susquehanna University to advance to the semifinals. Freshman Ian Box was seeded third at top singles and moved into the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Adam Geiger of FDU-Florham. Reinhart would also advance to the semifinals in the sixth singles bracket with a 6-2, 6-4 win against Shawn Becker from Lebanon Valley College. Shelbo was knocked out of the third singles flight with a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) by Jason Woods of Drew University.

In doubles action, the tandem of Box and Caniga were seeded second in the first doubles flight and had a first round bye. Shelbo and Gustin were knocked out of the second doubles bracket in the first round with an 8-6 loss to Blake Bonser and Dvid Boe from King's College while Feinman and Reinbart lost to Andrew Voshell and Dombach from Elizabethtown College, 8-5. Box and Caniga would move into the semifinals with an 8-1 victory over Michael Byerly and John Stuztman of Lycoming College.

At Wilkes Unviersity – Cancelled

The Greyhounds' final dual match of the year, a non-conference contest at Wilkes University for Friday, April 27th, has been cancelled due to weather conditions.

Vs. DeSales Unviersity – Won 8-1

Moravian won its final home match of the season, defeating local rival DeSales University, 8-1, at Hoffman Courts. The game was moved up a day due to expected weather on April 25th. The Greyhounds swept the doubles action for a 3-0 lead with victories by the teams of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga, senior Scott Shelbo and sophomore Lee Gustin and sophomores Keith Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. Moravian would also win five of six singles matches with straight sets wins by Box, Caniga, Sheblo and Reinhart and a three-set win by Feinman.

At Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference Semifinals – Lost 5-0

The fourth seeded Greyhounds were knocked out of the 2007 Commonwealth Conference Tournament by top seed and hosted Messiah College, 5-0. The match was called when a team reaches the necessary five points. Moravian had a lead in three of the four singles matches that were not completed.

Vs. Juniata College – Lost 6-3

In a battle for the third seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Conference Tournament, the Greyhounds came up on the short side of the score, falling to Juniata College, 6-3, in a Commonwealth Conference match at Hoffman Courts. The loss also snapped a three-game winning streak for Moravian. The Greyhounds trailed 2-1 after doubles action with a win by the team of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga. Box and Caniga would win their singles matches to give Moravian a brief 3-2 lead; however, the Eagles won the final four singles contests for the win. Caniga's singles win was the 43rd of his career, which ranked third in school history, and he has also won 33 career doubles matches, which ranks second all-time at Moravian.

Moravian earned its first team postseason berth since 2002 with a 5-4 victory over Lebanon Valley College in Commonwealth Conference action at Hoffman Courts. The win extends the Greyhounds' winning streak to three straight and gives the program a berth in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament that begins on April 21st at the highest seed. Moravian trailed 2-1 after doubles action with just the team of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga earning a win at first doubles. The Greyhounds would win the top four singles spots in straight sets with victories by Box, Caniga, senior Scott Shelbo and sophomore Keith Feinman to earn the win.

The Greyhounds won their second straight match, defeating the University of Scranton, 8-1, in a non-conference contest between future Landmark Conference foes. Moravian led 2-1 after the doubles action with wins by the teams of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga and sophomore Lee Gustin and senior Scott Shelbo. The Greyhounds swept the singles action with straight sets wins by Box, Caniga, Shelbo and sophomores Keith Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. Gustin needed three sets, including a pro-set to win his singles match.

Moravian won its sixth match of the season and improved to 2-2 in Commonwealth Conference action with a 9-0 sweep of Albright College. The Greyhounds started the match by winning all three doubles contests with wins by the teams of senior Neil Caniga and freshman Ian Box, senior Scott Shelbo and sophomore Lee Gustin and sophomores Ketih Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. Moravian also swept all six singles matches in straight sets. With his singles win, Caniga became the third player in school history to win 40 career singles contests.

Moravian scored one point in doubles action with a win by the duo of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga. In singles action, Caniga earned Moravian's only win at second single. The victory was the 39th of his career.

Moravian snapped a two-match losing streak and picked up its first win of the 2007 Commonwealth Conference season with a 9-0 victory at Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds swept the doubles action with wins by the tandems of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga, sophomore Lee Gustin and senior Scott Shelbo and sophomores Keith Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. All six players won their singles matches in straight sets for the Greyhounds. Cangia's single win was the 38th of his career, moving him into third all-time at Moravian.

The Greyhounds trailed 2-1 after doubles action with just one win from the duo of senior Neil Caniga and freshman Ian Box, 8-3, at first doubles. In singles action, Caniga won at second singles, 6-1, 6-3, while sophomore Keith Feinman earned a victory at fourth singles, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, and sophomore Jeremiah Reinhart won at sixth singles, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Moravian's first Commonwealth Conference match of the 2007 season at Elizabethtown College for Friday, March 23rd has been postponed due to rain. The match has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 25th at 1:00 p.m. in Elizabethtown.

Vs. FDU-Florham – Won 5-4

The Greyhounds won their second straight home match with a 5-4 non-conference victory over FDU-Florham. The match was started outside at Hoffman Courts but was moved indoors to Breidegam Fieldhouse during singles competition due to a light rain. Moravian led 2-1 after doubles play with an 8-4 win by the team of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga and an 8-3 victory by the sophomore duo of Keith Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. The Greyhounds would capture three singles match to earn the win. Box won at first singles, 6-4, 6-2 while Caniga captured a 6-1, 6-2 win at second singles. Reinhart dropped the first set of his sixth singles match 6-7 (0-7) but rallied to win the final two sets, 6-2, 6-2 to earn Moravian its third straight victory overall.

At Wilkes University – Postponed to April 27th

Moravian's non-conference match at Wilkes University for Sunday, March 18th has been postponed. The contest has been rescheduled for Friday, April 27th at 3:15 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre.

At King's College – Postponed to April 1st

Moravian's non-conference match at King's College for Saturday, March 17th has been postponed. The contest has been rescheduled for Sunday, April 1st at 5:00 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, and will be played indoors.

Vs. Muhlenberg College – Won 5-4

The Greyhounds began their 2007 home season with a 5-4 non-conference victory over rival Muhlenberg College. The match was started outside at Hoffman Courts but was moved indoors to Breidegam Fieldhouse after the doubles competition due to a light rain. Moravian led 2-1 after doubles play with an 8-4 win by the team of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga and a 9-8 (7-5) come-from-behind victory by senior Scott Shelbo and sophomore Lee Gustin. Shelbo and Gustin were down 6-3 at one point in the match. The Greyhounds would capture the top three singles match to earn the win. Box won at first singles, 7-5, 6-2 while Caniga captured a 6-1, 6-0 win at second singles. Shelbo won the contest for Moravian with a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at third singles, his first dual match singles win of the year.

Moravian won its final match during its Spring Break trip to Florida, defeating NCAA Division II Michigan Institute of Technology, 5-4. The Greyhounds trailed 2-1 after doubles action with a win from the duo of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga. Moravian would win three of the first five singles matches to finish with straight set wins by Box, Caniga and sophomore Keith Feinman. The match would come down to the sixth singles match where Greyhound sophomore Jeremiah Reinhart rallied for a three-set win after dropping the first set of the contest, 6-4.

Moravian opened its 2007 spring dual match season with a 7-2 victory over Ferrum (VA) College in a match played in Lake Came, Florida. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action with wins by the tandems of freshman Ian Box and senior Neil Caniga and sophomores Keith Feinman and Jeremiah Reinhart. Moravian then won five of six singles matches with Box, Caniga, Feinman and Reinhart winning in straight sets, and sophomore Lee Gustin earning a three-set victory.

Moravian took four players to the 2006 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Atlantic South Regional hosted by Salisbury (MD) University. All four competitors were in the B Draw. Sophomore Keith Feinman won a singles match before being knocked out while senior Scott Shelbo and freshman Johnathan Ritter each lost first round match. Shelbo did win his first consolation match to remain alive but fell in the second round of the consolation bracket. In doubles action, the teams of Shelbo and Feinman and sophomore Lee Gustin and Ritter each lost in the first round. Shelbo and Feinman received a bye in the first round of the consolation bracket and won their quarterfinal match before falling in the consolation semifinals.

The Greyhounds finished fourth of five schools at the 2006 Eastern College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Open South Championships hosted by Lehigh University. Moravian had 5.5 points while NCAA Division I Colgate University won the tournament with 20 points. Host Lehigh had 17 points while Loyla (MD) College had 8.5 points and Cabrini College had five points.

Individually for Moravian, senior Scott Shelbo and sophomore Keith Feinman each had 1-1 singles records while sophomore Lee Gustin and freshman Johnathan Ritter had a 1-1 mark in doubles action

Moravian opened its 2006-07 season at the four-team Muhlenberg College Fall Classic with Drew University and FDU-Florham. There were no team scores and the individuals played two singles and two doubles matches.

The Greyhounds had one individual winner with freshman Ian Box winning the championship match in the first singles flight. Senior Scott Shelbo and sophomoreds Lee Gustin and Jeremiah Reinhart each advanced to the championship match in their singles brackets while Gustin and freshman Jonathan Ritter reached the finals at second doubles.
