1998 Review

The Moravian men’s tennis team under the guidance of first year head coach Al Senavitas won four of its last five matches to post a 6-8 record for the season.

Sophomore Clay Wagner (Havertown/Haverford HS) was the Greyhounds top singles player with a 10-6 slate in his third singles position. He won one of two matches at the Middle Atlantic Conference Individual Tournament.

In doubles action, Wagner teamed up with senior Brad Weinstein (Langhorne/Neshaminy HS) for a 7-2 record. In singles action, Weinstein was 7-7 at second singles. He had an overall doubles mark of 10-4.

Sophomore Justin Biel (Linwood, NJ/Mainland Regional HS) also won seven single matches. He had a 7-6 record at fourth singles.

Biel won a pair of doubles contests with his partner, freshman Clay Smith (Bethlehem/Liberty HS). Smith was 5-10 at first singles in his debut season. He did score one victory in the MAC Championships.

Juniors Gonzalo Garcia-Pedroso (Miami, FL/South Kent {CT} School) and Josh Groner (Easton/Wilson HS) each had 5-7 singles marks this spring with Garcia-Pedroso competing in the fifth spot and Groner in the sixth slot in the line-up. The pair also combined for one victory in the MAC Championships in double play.

Junior Pat Stanley (Bethlehem/Salisbury HS) had one singles and two doubles wins this year while freshmen Chris Braun (Stroudsburg/Stroudsburg HS) and Rob Morris (Green Lane/Souderton HS) each had a pair of doubles victories.
