At 2nd Annual Seamus McElligott Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had two individuals compete at the 2nd Annual Seamus McElligott Invitational, a last chance national qualifying meet at Haverford College, but neither of the Greyhounds would qualify for nationals.  Junior Damon Rutherford placed 14th overall and fifth in his heat of the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:04.12.  Junior Anthony Rediger was trying to qualify in the triple jump and he placed second with a distance of 13.26 meters.

At MAC Championships – 4th of 14

The Greyhounds placed fourth of 11 schools at the 2000 Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Widener University. Senior Tim Pfluger won the 1,500 meters in a time of 3:57. Pfluger’s win was his fourth straight in the MAC outdoor championships and his seventh overall in the MAC indoor and outdoor meets. Junior Damon Rutherford placed second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:52.13. Rutherford was also fourth in the 1,500 meters in 4:03.16 and fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:06.68. Freshman George Wacker placed fourth in the 800 meters at 1:56.97 followed by sophomore Josh Heebner in fifth in 1:57.39. Freshman Wes Zimmerman was ninth in the 10,000 meters at 35:35.60 while sophomore Chris DeWalt was ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:40.24. Sophomore Kevin Bush was third in the 200 meters in22.36 seconds and he placed in the 100 meters in 11.38 seconds.

Wacker, Heebner and Bush teamed up with sophomore Chris Colley to place fourth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:25.31. Bush and Colley were part of the 4x100-meter relay with seniors Dan Oliynik and Jason Goldan that placed fifth in 44.44 seconds. Oliynik earned a third place finish in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.53 seconds while senior Jim O’Rourke was ninth in the 110-meter high hurdles at 16.50 seconds.

Junior Anthony Rediger was second in the triple jump at 44 feet, 4 ¼ inches and he tied for third in the high jump at six feet. Rediger placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 1 ¾ inches. O’Rourke also cleared six feet in the high jump but he was tied for sixth based on the number of jumps. Freshman John Stanko placed fifth in the triple jump at 43 feet, five inches. Junior Bill Schmidt was fourth in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 5 ½ inches. Senior Josh Tirado placed sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 115 feet, six inches and he was seventh in the discus with a toss of 128 feet, three inches.

At Lion’s Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds competed at the Lion’s Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey and were paced by junior jumper Anthony Rediger. Rediger won the triple jump at 13.35 meters and placed second in the high jump with a height of 1.95 meters. Senior Josh Tirado placed 12th in the hammer throw at 36.02 meters. Sophomore Josh Heebner paced the Greyhounds on the track with a fourth place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:55.92. Freshman George Wacker ran a 1:59.48 to place 15th in the 800. Junior Damon Rutherford was ninth in the 1,500 meters at 4:04.08 while freshman Wes Zimmerman was fifth in the 5,000 at 15:50.55.

At Lafayette Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had four competitors at the Lafayette College Invitational Saturday. Junior Damon Rutherford placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:48.94. Sophomore Chris DeWalt also competed in the steeplechase and placed tenth in 10:49.18. Junior Anthony Rediger was seventh in the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 11 ½ inches while freshman Justin Arnold was 18th in the 3,000 meters in 10:05.61.

Moravian College Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds hosted the Moravian Invitational and had seven first place finishes. Junior Anthony Rediger captured first in triple jump at 12.84 meters while senior Jim O’Rourke won the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.28 seconds. Sophomore Kevin Bush was first in the 200 meters in 22.57 seconds while sophomore Josh Heebner won the 800 meters in 1:57.37. Senior Tim Pfluger was first in the 15:34.72 while freshman Wes Zimmerman captured the 10,000 meters in 33.20.94. The Greyhounds 1,600-meter relay team won first place in 3:29.23. In the field events, senior Josh Tirado was third in the hammer throw at 33.34 meters and second in the discus with a throw of 33.56 meters. Rediger placed third in the long jump at 6.04 meters while freshman John Stanko was fourth at 5.84 meters and senior Travis Fink was fifth at 5.69 meters. Senior Kyle Harryn placed fifth in the javelin at 45.59 meters while O’Rourke placed fourth in the high jump at 5’10". Stanko also placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 12.46 meters. Bush placed fourth in the 100 meters in 11.42 seconds while freshman Chris Colly placed first in his heat of the 200 meters in 23.73 seconds. Colly was third in the 400 meters in 52.62 while freshman George Wacker was second in the 800 meters in 1:57.44. Senior Damon Rutherford placed third in the 1,500 meters in 4:07.50 while senior Michael Keysock was second in the 10,000 meters at 36:10.53 and freshman Justin Arnold was third in the 10,000 with a time of 36:10.96. At University of Pennsylvania Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds competed at the University of Pennsylvania Invitational and had several top ten finishes including a pair by junior Anthony Rediger, who was fourth in the triple jump at 13.27 meters (43’6 ½") and ninth in the long jump at 6.16 meters (20’2 ½"). Moravian’s other top ten finishes were by freshman Chris McGinnis with a seventh place in the 400 meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 1:04.40, junior Damon Rutherford with a seventh place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:24.20, freshman John Stanko with a seventh place in the triple jump at 12.43 meters (40’9 ½") and senior Josh Tirado, who was seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 32.56 meters (106’10"). The Greyhounds’ other competitors included sophomore Kevin Bush placing 14th in the 200 meters in 22.90 seconds, sophomore Chris Colley placing 13th in the 400 meters at 52.10 seconds, freshman Wes Zimmerman at 12th in the 5,000 meters in 5:52.40 and Stanko at 12th in the long jump with a distance of 5.82 meters (19’1 ¼"). Senior Travis Fink placed 13th in the long jump at 5.38 meter (17’8") while freshman Kristan Serioux was 16th in the shot put with a toss of 10.76 meters (35’3 ¾") and senior Kyle Harryn placed 15th in the javelin at 44.24 meters (145’2").

At Sam Howell Memorial Invitational at Princeton University – No Team Scores

Junior Anthony Rediger was the Greyhounds only placewinner at the Sam Howell Memorial Invitational hosted by Princeton University with a third place finish in the triple jump at a distance of 13.95 meters, just .22 meters short of the provisional qualifying distance for the NCAA Division III Championships.

At Muhlenberg College Invitational – No Team Scores

Moravian had one winner at the Muhlenberg College Invitational with sophomore Josh Heebner capturing first in the 800 meters in 1:58.19. Junior Doug Joseph placed second in the 100 meters in 11.47 seconds while sophomore Kevin Bush was second in the 200 meters at 22.93 seconds. Joseph ran the 200 meters in 23.81 seconds. Senior Jason Goldan ran an 11.96 in the 100 meters and a 24.40 in the 200 meters. Senior Dan Oliynik placed second in the 110-meter high hurdle sin 15.81 seconds while the Moravian 4x100-meter relay team of Oliynik, Bush, Joseph and Goldan placed third in 46.00 seconds. Freshman George Wacker seventh in the 1,500 meters in 4:19.28 while freshman Matt Plewinski had a 2:10.65 in the 800 meters. Freshman John Stanko placed third in the long jump at 20 feet, 2 ½ inches.

At Rutgers Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds had a pair of first place finishers in the Rutgers University Invitational to open the 2000 outdoor season. Senior Tim Pfluger won the 1,500 meters in 4:00.53 while junior Anthony Rediger won the triple jump with a leap of 12.81 meters. Other top ten finishers in the track events for the Greyhounds included senior Dan Oliynik with a third in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.46 seconds. Oliynik also teamed up with junior Doug Joseph, senior Jason Goldan and sophomore Kevin Bush placed third in the 4x100-meter relay in 44.82 seconds. Bush placed sixth in the 100 meters in 11.41 seconds while Joseph was seventh at 11.48 meters. Goldan placed 10th in the 100 meters in 11.78 seconds. Bush also placed third in the 200 meters at 22.67 meters. Freshman Chris McGinnis was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles at 1:05.74 while sophomore Chris DeWalt placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 10:52.74. Sophomore Josh Heebner was fifth in the 800 meters at 1:58.19 while freshman Wes Zimmerman was sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:01.70. Junior Damon Rutherford was seventh in the 5,000 meters in 16:06.60. Rediger also placed seventh in the long jump at 6.04 meters in addition to his win in the triple jump. Junior Napo Ghanda was eighth in the long jump at 5.75 meters while senior Travis Fink was ninth at 5.39 meters and freshman Jon Stanko was 10th at 5.35 meters. Senior Josh Tirado placed fourth in the hammer throw at 35.54 meters and seventh in the discus with a toss of 26.76 meters. Senior Kyle Harryn placed 10th in the javelin with a toss of 39.96 meters while senior Jim O’Rourke was third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.86 meters.

At NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships

Senior Tim Pfluger just missed advancing to Saturday’s final in the 1,500 meters by placing 11th in the qualifying race in 3:59.82. Pfluger was seven-tenths of a second out of tenth lace, the last spot for the finals.

At 2000 MAC Championships at Lebanon Valley – 2nd of 8 teams

The Greyhounds placed second of eight teams at the 2000 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Lebanon Valley College on Saturday. It was the second straight year that Moravian has finished as the runner-up.

In the running events, senior Tim Pfluger, who won the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:07.12, led the Greyhounds. The gold medal in the 1,500 meters was Pfluger’s sixth at Moravian. He has won the indoor 1,500 meters the last three years and he also has three wins in the outdoor 1,500 meters heading into this spring’s action. Pluger also joined with teammates junior Damon Rutherford, sophomore Josh Heebner and freshman George Wacker to win the distance medley relay with a time of 10:57.23 and to place second in the 3,200-meter relay in a time of 8:31.09. Rutherford placed fourth in the 1,500 meters in 4:15.89 while Wacker was fourth in the 800 meters in 2:03.38 and Heebner was sixth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:04.55. Freshman Wes Zimmerman was fourth in the 5,000 meters in 16:10.75.

Sophomores Chris Colley and Kevin Bush led Moravian in the sprint events. Colley placed fifth in the 500 meters in 54.99 seconds while Bush was eighth in the 200 meters in 24.56 seconds. The duo also ran in the 800-meter relay and the 1,600 meter relay for the ‘Hounds. Colley and Bush were joined by junior Doug Joseph and freshman Chris McGinnis in the 800-meter relay and posted a fifth place time of 1:41.93. Sophomore Chris DeWalt ran the 1,600-meter relay with Colley, Bush and McGinnis to finish sixth in a time of 3:53.11. Bush also placed fifth in the 55 meters in 6.88 seconds while Joseph was sixth in 6.91 seconds. Senior Dan Oliynik placed third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.31 seconds.

In the field events, junior Anthony Rediger placed in three events. He captured first place in the triple jump with a distance of 43 feet, 8 ¾ inches. Rediger was third in the high jump at six feet, two inches and fourth in the long jump at 20 feet, 7 ¼ inches. Junior Bill Schmidt placed in two events with a second place in the shot put with a toss of 42 feet, 8 ¼ inches and a third place in the 35-lb. weight throw with a distance of 41 feet, 4 ½ inches. Senior Josh Tirado was sixth in the weight throw at 36 feet, five inches while freshman John Stanko placed tenth in the long jump at 19 feet, 5 ½ inches. Freshman Scott Bertani placed second in the pole vault, clearing a height of 12 feet, four inches.

At Keogh Invitational at Haverford College – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds competed at the Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College and there were no team scores kept at the meet. In the field events, junior Anthony Rediger won the high jump at six feet, two inches while freshman Scott Bertani was second in the pole vault with a height of 12 feet, six inches. Rediger also ran a 25.6 in the 200 meters. Freshman John Stanko placed fifth in the triple jump at 12.21 meters and seventh in the long jump at 5.54 meters.

In the track events, senior Dan Oliynik was second in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.9 seconds and tied for 11th in the 55 meters in 6.9 seconds. Sophomore Kevin Bush tied for second in the 55 meters at 6.6 seconds and Bush also tied for second in the 200 meters at 23.2 seconds. Senior Tim Pfluger was third in the 1,500 meters at 4:01.4 while junior Damon Rutherford placed eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:07.1. Sophomore Josh Heebner won his heat and was seventh overall in the 800 meters in a time of 2:00.7.

Freshman Wes Zimmerman placed second in his heat in the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:27.1 while sophomore Chris Colley was second in his heat of the 200 meters in 24.1 seconds. Freshman Chris McGinnis won his heat of the 200 meters in 24.7 seconds. Colley and McGinnis each ran in the 55 meters with times of 6.9 and 7.1 seconds. Junior Doug Joseph also ran in the 55 meters with a time of 6.7 seconds. Freshman George Wacker had a time of 4:13.4 in the 1,500 meters.

At University of Delaware Invitational – No Team Scores

Senior Tim Pfluger was eighth in the mile race at the University of Delaware Invitational in a time of 4:25.76. Junior Damon Rutherford was 12th in the same race at 4:29.47. Senior Dan Oliynik was 18th  in the 60-meter high hurdles in 9.00 seconds. The Greyhound distance medley relay team of Pfluger, Rutherford, freshman George Wacker and sophomore Josh Heebner placed third with a time of 10:25.63.

Hosts Greyhound Field Challenge – No Team Scores

Moravian had a pair of individual winners at the Greyhound Field Challenge. Junior Anthony Rediger won the high jump at six feet, two inches while freshman Scott Bertani won the pole vault with a height of 12 feet. Rediger placed second in the triple jump at 13.49 meters while freshman Jon Stanko was fourth in 12.84 meters. Junior Bill Schmidt was second in the shot put with a toss of 13.68 meters and fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at 11.60 meters. Senior Josh Tirado was third in the 35-pound weight throw at 11.63 meters. Rediger placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.43 meters while junior Napo Ghanda was fifth at 6.08 meters.

At Haverford Invitational – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds competed at the Haverford Invitational and there were no team scores kept at the meet, but Moravian had several outstanding individual finishes. Senior Tim Pfluger won his heat of the 1,500 meters and was fifth overall in 4:04.6. Junior Damon Rutherford was fourth in the same heat and tied for 14th overall with a time of 4:09.6. Freshman George Wacker was first in his heat of the 800 meters and tied for tenth at 2:01.8. Sophomore Josh Heebner placed third in the same heat with a time of 2:04.1.

Junior Doug Joseph was second in his heat of the 55 meters in 6.5 seconds and tied for third overall. Sophomore Kevin Bush ran the 55 meters in 6.6 seconds and also placed seventh in the 200 meters in 23.3 seconds. Sophomore Chris Colly was 12th in the 400 meters in 54.5 seconds while freshman Eric Paul was 17th in 56.2 seconds. The Greyhounds 1,600-meter relay team finished seventh of 14 schools in 3:35.8.

In the field events, junior Bill Schmidt placed third in the shot put with a toss of 13.28 meters while freshman Scott Bertani was sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.35 meters. Junior Anthony Rediger placed third in the high jump at 1.83 meters and third in the triple jump at 42 feet, one inch. Junior Napo Ghanda was eighth in the long jump at 18 feet, 11 ¾ inches while senior Travis Fink was tenth at 17 feet, 11 ½ inches.

At Bucknell/Hershey Relays – No Team Scores

The Greyhounds opened the 2000 portion of their season last weekend at the Bucknell/Hershey Relays. There were no team scores kept at the meet. Senior Tim Pfluger placed fifth in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:46.49. Junior Damon Rutherford also competed in the 3,000 meters, placing 10th in 8:59.52. Junior Anthony Rediger was 11th in the long jump at 19 feet, one and three-quarter inches.

Moravian had three relay teams in competition at the Bucknell/Hershey Relays. The distance medley relay team of freshman George Wacker, sophomore Kevin Bush, sophomore Josh Heebner and Pfluger ran a time of 10:46.36 while the sprint medley relay team of Chris Colley, Lyle Lentz, Chris McGinness and Rutherford was 13th  in 3:47.15. The 4x400 meter relay squad of Lentz, Colley, Bush and Eric Paul placed 19th in 3:44.78.

At Lafayette Invitational – No Team Scores

Senior Tim Pfluger set the Moravian College record and finished first in the two-mile race to pace the Greyhounds at the Lafayette Invitational. Pfluger finished the race in 9:39.8, shaving over three seconds off the previous school record. Junior Damon Rutherford placed second in the two-mile race in 9:48.2. Sophomore Kevin Bush placed third in the finals of the 60-yard dash in 6.4 seconds while sophomore Chris Colley was 15th in the 60-yard dash.

Freshman George Wacker placed eighth in the 880-yard run in 2:03.0 while teammate and sophomore Tim McDade was 12th in the race with a time of 2:09.2. Junior Lyle Lentz placed fourth in the 300-yard dash in 33.9 seconds while Colley was 13th in 36.3 seconds. Junior Anthony Rediger led four Moravian finishers in the long jump, placing eighth with a leap of 6.15 meters. Junior Napo Ghanda was 11th at 5.59 meters while freshman John Stanko was 13th at 5.41 meters and senior Travis Fink was 14th at 5.22 meters.
