At 2009 NCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Marietta College – Tied for 18th of 81    Moravian Individual Results            Complete Meet Results

Moravian had one individual compete on the third and final day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Marietta College. The Greyhounds finished in a tie for 18th of 81 schools scoring a point with 14 points, all scored by sophomore Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, on the final day of competition. The University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh won the team title with 46 points while McMurry (TX) University was second with 40 points.

Woodruff became the tenth Moravian student-athlete to win an individual national championship and the ninth track & field athlete when he captured the 200-meter dash in a school record time of 21.06 seconds. Woodruff, who had the fastest qualifying time in the preliminaries on Thursday, defeated Hanneus Ollison from McMurry by two-tenths of a second in the finals. Ollison had entered the meet with the top time in the nation, running under 21 seconds earlier in the year. Woodruff earned ten team points for his victory and also earned All-American honors for the second time on the day.

With the national championship, Woodruff becomes the first Greyhound student-athlete to win a track event at the national meet since Heidi Wolfsberger captured the 2001 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. Woodruff is also the first Moravian male to win an outdoor track title since Jeff Cullingford won the 800-meter run back in 1990.

Woodruff began the afternoon by earning All-American honors with a fifth place finish in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.87 seconds, earning four team points. The 100-meter dash was the first of his two final races and earned him All-American honors for the first time in his career. Woodruff's time in the 100-meter dash was four hundredths of a second slower than his qualifying time in the preliminary on Friday with the 200-meter dash scheduled for just over an hour after the 100-meter dash.

The Greyhounds had two individuals compete on the second day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Marietta College. Moravian did not score a point for the second straight day of competition with its two competitors in preliminary races. The Linfield (OR) College is first of 43 schools that have scored a point with 18 points.

Sophomore Eric Woodruff advanced to the finals in his second event of the championship, placing second in his heat and sixth overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.83 seconds. Woodruff will be in lane seven on Saturday for the championship race at 2:30 p.m. He will also run on the finals of the 200-meter dash on Saturday at 3:35 p.m. Senior Nathaniel Tussey just missed making the finals in his second hurdle event of the meet. Tussey posted a time of 14.81 seconds in the 110-meter high hurdles, which was good enough for second in his heat, but was ninth of 17 overall, missing the finals by five hundredths of a second.

Moravian had three individuals compete on the first day of the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Marietta College. The Greyhounds did not score a point on the first day of competition while the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh is first of 26 schools that have scored a point with 14 points.

Freshman Gary Zach was the only Greyhound to compete in a finals event on the first day of the meet. Zach qualified for the javelin in the 17th and final spot but his third throw of the preliminaries, a toss of 58.26 meters (191 feet, two inches), earned Zach one of the nine spots in the finals. He was unable to improve his distance in three additional throws to finish ninth overall, just two feet, five inches shy of eighth place and All-American honors.

Moravian's other two competitors were running in preliminary events on the first day of competition. Sophomore Eric Woodruff won his heat and posted the fastest time of the 17 runners in the 200-meter dash at 21.29 seconds to advance to the finals on Saturday at 3:35 p.m. where he will be in lane four. Senior Nathaniel Tussey competed in the preliminaries of the 400-meter hurdles finishing third in his heat in a season best time of 52.95 seconds. However, Tussey was tied for ninth among the 16 runners, missing a return trip to the finals by nine-hundredths of a second. Tussey placed fifth in the event last spring when he earned All-American honors in both hurdle events.

The Greyhounds captured their second straight Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Championship, posting a team total of 64.5 points to top the 56 schools that scored points in the 2009 meet hosted by Springfield College. RIT placed second with 45 points while RPI and Ithaca College tied for third with 36 points.

Moravian senior Nathaniel Tussey was named the 2009 ECAC Most Outstanding Male Performer after capturing two individual titles on the second day of the meet. Tussey won the 110-meter high hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 14.49 seconds, matching his best time of the season and keeping Tussey tied for seventh in the event heading into next week's NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships. Tussey also won the 400-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 52.96 seconds. The time took nearly a full second off of Tussey's best time of the season and moved him up to eighth in the nation heading to the national championships. Tussey earned 20 of Moravian's points with his two wins.

The Greyhounds had one other individual champion with sophomore Eric Woodruff capturing the 200-meter dash in an ECAC meet record and Moravian school record time of 21.22 seconds. Woodruff's time, which was a hundredth of a second faster than his previous school mark, met the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III National Championships and kept him ranked second in the country heading into next week's championship meet.

Woodruff, who earned ten points for his win in the 200-meter dash, earned another six points with a third place finish in the 100-meter dash in 10.91 seconds while senior Robert Shaffer earned three points with a sixth place in the race in 11.13 seconds. Shaffer also placed 13th in the 200-meter dash in 22.48 seconds while senior Timothy Murphy was 13th in the 800-meter run in 1:56.05. Sophomore Warner Jones placed 17th in the 400-meter dash in 50.23 seconds.

Moravian scored is final 13 points in the field events. Senior Blair Maginnis was the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 14.99 meters (49 feet, 2 1/4 inches) to earn eight points. Junior Michael Blenk placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.93 meters (22 feet, nine inches) to earn the team's final five points.

At 2009 ECAC Division III Championships hosted by Springfield College – 6th of 25 after first day              Complete Meet Results

Moravian, the defending ECAC Division III Champion, is in sixth place of 25 schools that scored points after the first day of competition at the 2009 ECAC Division III Championships being hosted by Springfield College. The Greyhounds currently have 12.5 points while Cortland State is in first place with 21.5 points and RIT is second with 18 points. Freshman Gary Zack scored eight of Moravian's points with a runner-up finish in the javelin throw with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying throw of 60.63 meters (198 feet, 11 inches). Zack's throw moves him to 16th in the nation this spring and on the edge of qualifying for next week's NCAA Division III National Championships.

The Greyhounds other 4.5 points came in the pole vault competition. Senior Alan Woods tied for fifth at a height of 4.67 meters (15 feet, 3 3/4 inches) to earn 3.5 points while freshman Timothy Layng cleared the same height by in more attempts to take eighth place and earn one point. In the only other finals event on the first day of competition for the Greyhounds, senior Blair Maginnis finished 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 48.34 meters (158 feet, seven inches).

In preliminary races, the Greyhounds moved three of four competitors onto the finals. In the 100-meter dash, sophomore Eric Woodruff posted the top time in the preliminaries with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 10.64 seconds while senior Robert Shaffer advanced with a time of 10.97 seconds, which was the fourth fastest time but placed him sixth as the four heat winners earned the top four spots in the finals. Senior Nathaniel Tussey posted the best time of the day in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 15.22 seconds to advance to the final while junior Michael Blenk was 24th in 16.68 seconds.

At Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results           Complete Meet Results

The Greyhounds had five individuals compete at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet as the team prepares for the 2009 ECAC and NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Freshman Timothy Layng had Moravian's top individual performance with a school record, an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches) in the pole vault. Layng was second in the event on attempts as he cleared the same height as the winner. Senior Alan Woods was third in the pole vault with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 4.75 meters (15 feet, seven inches), which also bettered the previous school record that Woods had held.

Moravian had three runners in the 800-meter run with senior Timothy Murphy finishing 24th in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:54.97. Junior Steve Parisi was 27th in the race in 1:55.26, just .06 shy of the ECAC qualifying mark, while sophomore Connor Skutches was 36th in 1:56.33.

Moravian had four competitors at the 2009 NYC Qualifying Challenge competed at Ichan Stadium hosted by the Randall's Island Sports Foundation. Senior Nathaniel Tussey had a first place finish for the Greyhounds, capturing the 400-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 53.92 seconds.

Senior Blair Maginnis was fourth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.49 meters (47 feet, 6 1/2 inches) while junior Michael Blenk was tied for eighth in the long jump at 6.91 meters (22 feet, eight inches). Senior Robert Shaffer was ninth in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 11.04 seconds after an ECAC qualifying time of 10.91 seconds in the preliminaries.

The Greyhounds defended their Landmark Conference title, winning the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Goucher College. Moravian scored 285 points while Susquehanna University finished as the runner-up with 240.5 points.

Moravian won nine individual events and two relay titles in the 14 events that awarded gold medals on the second day of the meet. Sophomore Eric Woodruff was named the Male Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 100-meter dash in a school record, a Landmark Conference meet record, an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 10.59 seconds, and capturing the 200-meter dash in a school record, a Landmark Conference meet record, an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying time of 21.23 seconds. Woodruff also ran a leg on both of Moravian's winning relay teams, the 4x100-meter squad that won in a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 42.32 seconds, and the 4x400-meter team that had an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.60.

Senior Blair Maginnis earned Male Field Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight year after capturing the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.28 meters (50 feet, 1 3/4 inches) and winning the hammer throw with a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying mark of 48.82 meters (160 feet, two inches). Moravian head Walt Wandall and his staff were recognized as the Coaching Staff of the Year for a second consecutive year as well.

Moravian had one other multiple winner on the second day of the Landmark Conference Championships with senior Nathaniel Tussey winning the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 14.95 seconds and capturing the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 54.37 seconds. Sophomore Warner Jones won the 400-meter dash in a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 48.81 seconds while senior Timothy Murphy won the 800-meter run in a Landmark Conference meet record time of 1:55.99. Jones and Murphy joined Woodruff and sophomore Connor Skutches on the Greyhounds' winning 4x400-meter relay team while Woodruff and Jones teamed up with senior Robert Shaffer and junior Ryan Rempe to win the 4x100-meter relay.

The Greyhounds' final individual champion was junior Michael Blenk, who captured first place in the decathlon for the second straight year. Blenk had a point total of 5,283 after the final five events on the second day of competition. Blenk earned 638 points for a time of 16.87 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles, 451 points for a distance of 39.30 meters (96 feet, one inch) in the discus, 490 points for a height of 3.53 meters (11 feet, seven inches) in the pole vault, 461 points for a distance of 41.33 meters (135 feet, seven inches) in the javelin and 167 points for a time of 6:26.30 in the 1,500-meter run. Blenk was first among the competitors in the hurdles, discus and javelin.

Shaffer was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 10.79 seconds while Jones took fourth in 11.23 seconds. Jones was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.21 seconds while Shaffer was third with an ECAC qualifying time of 22.42 seconds and freshman Kyle D'Angelo was fifth in 23.33 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, Tussey was third in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.84 seconds while Murphy was fifth in 51.33 seconds and junior Steve Parisi finished sixth in 51.79 seconds. Blenk was the runner-up in the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.75 seconds.

Skutches was third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:56.40 while sophomore Jacob Tazik placed seventh in 2:00.44. Tazik also placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:15.08 while freshman Zach Rivenbark finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:30.79.

Blenk also placed second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.97 meters (43 feet, 6 3/4 inches) while freshman Jordan Barton was sixth with a leap of 11.39 meters (37 feet, 4 1/2 inches). Junior Matthew Wisotsky took fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.34 meters (138 feet, 11 inches) while junior Christian Seebode was ninth at 33.17 meters (108 feet, ten inches).

Moravian is in first place of six schools after the first day of the 2009 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships being hosted by Goucher College. The defending champion Greyhounds scored 87 points in the first day of the meet with three individual champions in the seven completed events. Susquehanna University is just seven and a half points behind Moravian.

The Greyhounds champions of the first day included junior Michael Blenk winning the long jump in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 7.06 meters (23 feet, two inches), senior Blair Maginnis capturing the discus throw with a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying distance of 42.57 meters (139 feet, eight inches) and freshman Timothy Layng placing first in the pole vault at an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches).

Senior Alan Woods was second in the pole vault, clearing the same height as Layng but in more attempts while freshman Kyle D'Angelo took fifth at 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Blenk was second in the high jump, clearing 1.78 meters (five feet, ten inches) while sophomore Eric Woodruff was third at the same height in more attempts. Woodruff also placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.36 meters (20 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while freshman Jordan Barton was seventh at 5.82 meters (19 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

Freshman Gary Zack was third in the javelin throw with a toss of 54.43 meters (178 feet, 11 inches) while senior Justin Starcher placed fifth at 52.47 meters (172 feet, two inches. Junior Christian Seebode was fifth in the discus with a toss of 34.74 meters (114 feet) while Starcher placed eighth at 33.98 meters (111 feet, six inches) and junior Matthew Wisotsky took ninth with a distance of 33.77 meters (110 feet, nine inches).

Sophomore Connor Skutches placed fifth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:07.16 while senior Jeremiah Reinhart was fourth in the 10,000-meter run in 35:07.38.

In preliminary events, Woodruff was first in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 10.79 seconds while senior Robert Shaffer took second an ECAC qualifying time of 11.02 seconds. Sophomore Warner Jones also advanced to the finals with a time of 11.22 seconds, while was fourth in qualifying while D'Angelo took ninth in 11.72 seconds. Jones was first in the preliminaries of the 400-meter dash in 50.26 seconds while senior Nathaniel Tussey was second in 50.29 seconds, junior Steve Parisi was sixth at 51.57 seconds and senior Timothy Murphy took seventh at 51.63 with all four advancing to the final. Moravian took the top four of the top five spots in the preliminaries in the 200-meter dash to advance to the finals. Woodruff was first in the race in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 21.66 seconds while Jones took second in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.33 seconds, Shaffer finished third in 22.55 seconds and Tussey placed fifth at 22.81 seconds.

Blenk is also first after the first five events of the decathlon with 3,076 points while freshman Christopher Gallogly is third with 2,422 points. Blenk earned 717 points for a time of 11.67 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 764 points for a distance of 6.79 meters (22 feet, 3 1/2 inches) in the long jump, 460 points for a distance of 9.57 meters (31 feet, 4 3/4 inches) in the shot put, 560 points for a height of 1.72 meters (five feet, 7 3/4 inches) in the high jump and 575 points for a time of 55.59 seconds in the 400-meter dash. Blenk was first in four of the five events. Gallogly garnered 645 points for a time of 12.03 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 352 points for a distance of 4.84 meters (15 feet, 10 1/2 inches) in the long jump, 427 points for a distance of 9.02 meters (29 feet, 7 1/4 inches) in the shot put, 441 points for a height of 1.57 meters (five feet, 1 3/4 inches) in the high jump and 637 points for a time of 54.07 seconds in the 400-meter dash.

The Greyhounds hosted the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. Moravian had four runner-up finishes with sophore Eric Woodruff taking second in the 200-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 21.49 seconds. Freshman Timothy Layng was second in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) while junior Michael Blenk was second in the long jump with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying mark of 7.02 meters (23 feet, 1/2 inch).

Woodruff also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 11.02 seconds while senior Robert Shaffer took sixth in 11.09 seconds, which also beet the ECAC qualifying standard. Shaffer also palced eighth in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.44 seconds. Sophomore Warner Jones was fourth in the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.22 seconds. Blenk finished tenth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.01 seconds while freshman Steve Ambrosi was tenth in the 400-meter Hurdles in 57.40 seconds..

Senior Timothy Murphy took fourth in the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:54.88 while junior Steve Parisi was ninth in 1:56.62. Freshman Zach Rivenbark was seventh in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:28.83. Junior Timothy Betz was tenth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 17:15.10. The Greyhounds 4x400-meter relay squad of Murphy, Parisi, Jones and sophomore Connor Skutches placed third in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:20.97.

Blenk also took ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 12.79 meters (41 feet, 11 1/2 inches), and he was tied for eighth in the high jump at a height of 1.75 meters (five feet, 8 3/4 inches). Senior Alan Woods was third in the pole vault, clearing 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11 inches).

Senior Blair Maginnis placed sixth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.98 meters (49 feet, 1 3/4 inches). Freshman Gary Zack finished eighth in the javelin throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 55.03 meters (180 feet, six inches).

Host Greyhound Invitational – No Team Scores           First Day Results

Moravian opened the 2009 Greyhound Invitational by hosting the hammer throw at Rocco Calvo Field. Senior Blair Maginnis placed seventh in the 36-athlete field with a personal best and ECAC Division III qualifying toss of 49.55 meters (162 feet, six inches). Maginnis' throw was also the second longest in school history. Junior Matthew Wisotsky took 22nd at 39.30 meters (128 feet, 11 inches).

The Greyhounds placed third of 12 schools at the 2009 New Jersey Invitational hosted by The College of New Jersey. Moravian scored 102.5 points while Ithaca College won the meet with 153.5 points. The Greyhounds had three individual winners and a relay team take first place. Senior Nathaniel Tussey captured the 110-meter high hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 14.77 seconds, and he won the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 55.13 seconds. Senior Blair Maginnis captured the hammer throw with a toss of 45.95 meters (150 feet, nine inches). Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of Tussey, senior Robert Shaffer and sophomores Warner Jones and Eric Woodruff captured first place in an ECAC qualifying time of 42.41 seconds.

Woodruff was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 10.84 seconds after posting an ECAC and NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 10.75 seconds in the preliminaries. Shaffer was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.04 seconds, which qualified for the ECAC meet, and he had a time of 10.95 seconds in the preliminaries. Jones was eighth in the 100-meter dash finals in 11.56 seconds after a qualifying time of 11.15 seconds. Jones also took fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.81 seconds while Tussey was eighth in 23.18 seconds and Shaffer was ninth at 23.27 seconds. Jones also placed fifth in the 400-meter dash in 51.44 seconds.

Junior Michael Blenk was second in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.26 seconds after an ECAC qualifying time of 15.69 seconds in the preliminaries. Freshman Steve Ambrosi was seventh in the 110-meter hurdles in 17.50 seconds with a preliminary time of 17.32 seconds, and Ambrosi was fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.45 seconds.

Junior Steve Parisi was ninth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:14.01.

Blenk was also the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 6.43 meters (21 feet, 1 1/4 inches) while freshman Jordon Barton tied for eighth at 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5 1/4 inches).

Maginnis placed second in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.85 meters (48 feet, 8 3/4 inches). Junior Matthew Wisotsky was sixth in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.51 meters (126 feet, four inches) while freshman Gary Zack tied for tenth at 32.94 meters (108 feet, one inch). Zack also took sixth in the javelin throw with a toss of 46.52 meters (152 feet, seven inches) while senior Justin Starcher placed eighth at 45.23 meters (148 feet, nine inches) in the javelin.

At Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results       Complete Meet Results

Moravian had one competitor at the 2009 Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University. Senior Jeremiah Reinhart was 52nd in the 5,000-meter run with a career best time of 15:35.36.

The Greyhounds competed at the non-scoring Muhlenberg College Invitational. All of the track times at the meet were hand held times after the timer for Muhlenberg was unable to attend due to travel complicationss. Moravian did have five first place individual finishes with senior Nathaniel Tussey winning the 110-meter hurdles in 14.4 seconds and 400-meter hurdles in 54.74 seconds, sophomore Eric Woodruff capturing the 100-meter dash in 10.5 seconds and 200-meter dash in 22.4 seconds and senior Blair Maginnis winning the shot put with a toss of 14.66 meters (48 feet, 1 1/4 inches). The Greyhounds' 4x100-meter relay team of Woodruff, Tussey, senior Robert Shaffer and sophomore Warner Jones also finished first with a time of 42.5 seconds.

In other top ten sprint results, Shaffer was fourth in the 100-meter dash in 10.8 seconds while Jones was fifth with the same hand held time. Junior Michael Blenk placed fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.7 seconds.

Senior Timothy Murphy was fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.01 to lead Moravian's distance team. Freshman Zach Rivenbark was tenth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:39.0 while freshman Matthew Lutcza placed tenth in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:17.1. The Greyhounds' 4x800-meter relay squad of Murphy, Lutcza, junior Steve Parisi and sophomore Jacob Tazik took fifth in 8:30.3.

Blenk finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.69 meters (21 feet, 11 1/2 inches) while Woodruff placed sixth at 6.22 meters (20 feet, five inches). Blenk was also tied for ninth in the high jump at 1.72 meters (five feet, 7 3/4 inches), and he placed tenth in the triple jump at 12.26 meters (40 feet, 2 3/4 inches). Freshman Timothy Layng placed third in the pole vault, which was competed indoors due to strong winds at the meet, with a height of 4.57 meters (15 feet). Senior Alan Woods was fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.41 meters (14 feet, six inches) while freshman Kyle D'Angelo was fifth at 3.96 meters (13 feet).

Freshman Gary Zack was the runner-up in the javelin throw with a toss of 51.58 meters (169 feet, three inches) while senior Justin Starcher was sixth at 49.41 meters (162 feet, one inch).

Moravian opened the 2009 outdoor season with a third place finish at the Lafayette College 8-Way meet run on the Greyhounds' own track due to construction at Lafayette. Moravian scored 126 points, trailing just NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvannia, which won the meet with 148.5 points, and NCAA Division I St. Joseph's University, which had 129 points.

The Greyhounds had three individual winners with senior Nathaniel Tussey winning the 110-meter high hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 14.49 seconds, and the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 54.33 seconds. Sophomore Eric Woodruff captured the 200-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 21.46 seconds. Woodruff also placed second in the 100-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 10.76 seconds while Tussey was third in the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.98 seconds.

In other top ten spring results, sophomore Warner Jones placed third in the 200-meter dash in 22.46 seconds, missing the ECAC qualifying time by one-hundredth of a second, and he was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 50.30 seconds and seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.12 seconds. Freshman Kyle D'Angelo was tenth in the 200-meter dash in 23.27 seconds. Junior Michael Blenk was sixth in the 110-meter high hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.76 seconds while freshman Steve Ambrosi was seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in 58.52 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay team of Jones, sophomore Connor Skutches, junior Steve Parisi and sophomore Jacob Tazik was fourth in an ECAC qualifying time of 3:25.63.

In the distance races, sophomore Connor Skutches took third in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:57.27 while senior Timothy Murphy was fourth in 1:58.07 and junior Steve Parisi finished ninth in 1:59.64. Senior Jeremiah Reinhart took sixth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:01.39 while freshman Zach Rivenbark placed ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 10:56.32.

In field results, senior Alan Woods placed second in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Freshman Timothy Layng was third at the same height but more attempts. Blenk finished second in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 6.77 meters (22 feet, 2 1/2 inches), and he was fifth in the triple jump at 12.95 meters (42 feet, six inches).

Senior Blair Maginnis took second in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.90 meters (48 feet, 10 3/4 inches), and Maginnis was sixth in the hammer throw at 47.46 meters (155 feet, eight inches) and seventh in the discus with a toss of 37.31 meters (122 feet, five inches). Junior Matthew Wisotsky was eighth in the discus throw at 35.02 meters (114 feet, 11 inches) while junior Christian Seebode took tenth at 32.24 meters (105 feet, nine inches). Senior Justin Starcher placed seventh in the javelin throw with a toss of 50.96 meters (167 feet, two inches).

The Greyhounds finished 5th of 50 teams scoring points at the 2009 ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Tufts University. Moravian scored 36.50 points while St. Lawrence University won the meet with 53 points. The Greyhounds had one individual champion with sophomore Eric Woodruff capturing the 200-meter dash in 22.02 seconds, the second fastest time in school history and a personal best for Woodruff.

The Greyhounds' 4x800-meter relay squad of senior Timothy Murphy, junior Steve Parisi and sophomores Jacob Tazik and Connor Skutches earned Moravian eight points with a second place finish in a time of 7:55.62, the second fastest time in school history.

Senior Blair Maginnis earned Moravian another three points with a sixth place finish in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 15.60 meters (51 feet, 2 1/4 inches), just under his school record distance. Senior Robert Shaffer was eighth in the 55-meter dash in 6.64 seconds to earn a point.

Junior Michael Blenk was 15th in the long jump with a leap of 6.33 meters (20 feet, 9 1/4 inches).

Moravian is in fifth place of 33 teams that scored points on the first day of the 2009 ECAC Division III Indoor Championships being hosted by Tufts (MA) University. The Greyhounds scored 14.5 points on the first day of competition while RIT is first with 26 points.

The Moravian 4x200-meter relay team of senior Robert Shaffer, sophomores Eric Woodruff and Warner Jones and freshman Kyle D'Angelo placed second to earn eight points in a school record time of 1:30.74. Senior Blair Maginnis earned six points with a third place in the shot put with a toss of 15.48 meters (50 feet, 9 1/2 inches) while senior Alan Woods earned half a point for tying for eighth place in the pole vault, clearing 4.45 meters (14 feet, 11 inches).

In other final results, junior Michael Blenk was 11th in the indoor pentathlon with 3,088 points while freshman Timothy Layng placed 18th in the pole vault at 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11 1/4 inches), while the 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Jones, senior Jeremiah Reinhart, sophomore Connor Skutches and freshman Steve Ambrosi finished 14th in a time of 10:41.84.

In preliminary events, Shaffer was seventh overall in the 55-meter dash in 6.59 seconds to qualify for the finals on Saturday.

The Greyhounds were unable to defend their Landmark Conference Championship, placing second to host Susquehanna University at the 2009 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships. The Crusaders posted a winning score of 206 points while Moravian had 169 points. The Greyhounds had five individual championships in 13 events and three winning relay squads in four contests.  Senior thrower Blair Maginnis was named the Male Field Athlete of the Year for the Greyhound men. Maginnis captured a pair of first place titles, claiming the 35-pound weight throw in a school record, a Landmark Conference record and ECAC qualifying toss of 15.62 meters (51 feet, three inches), and winning the shot put with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 15.54 meters (51 feet).

Senior Alan Woods won the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 ¼ inches), which was also cleared by teammate freshman Timothy Layng but in more attempts for second place.  Sophomore Eric Woodruff won the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.44 seconds while sophomore Warner Jones won the 400-meter dash in 51.01 seconds.

Woodruff and Jones ran along with senior Robert Shaffer and freshman Kyle D’Angelo to win the 4x200-meter relay in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.24 seconds, and Woodruff and Jones were also on the winning 4x400-meter relay team with senior Timothy Murphy and freshman Steve Ambrosi in 3:30.16.  Moravian’s first-place 4x800-meter relay squad consisted of Murphy, junior Steve Parisi and sophomores Connor Skutches and Jacob Tazik with a winning time of 8:11.64.

In other top ten track results, junior Michael Blenk was the runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.20 seconds while Ambrosi placed sixth at 8.73 seconds. Both runners had faster times in the finals. Shaffer was second in the 55-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 6.55 seconds while Woodruff took third in 6.56 seconds, also an ECAC qualifying time. Woodruff had the top qualifying time at 6.53 seconds. Ambrosi also took seventh in the 400-meter dash in 53.82 seconds. Jones was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 23.06 seconds while Shaffer placed fourth in 23.44 seconds and D'Angelo took fifth in 23.49 seconds.

Skutches was fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:32.45 while senior Jeremiah Reinhart took sixth in 4:38.08. Freshman Matthew Lutcza was sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:11.05 while freshman Zach Rivenbark was tenth in 16:54.04. Moravian's 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Tazik, Lutcza, and Rivenbark and freshman Christopher Gallogly was third in a time of 10:59.02.

Blenk took second in the long jump with a leap of 6.57 meters (21 feet, 6 3/4 inches) while Woodruff placed sixth at 6.16 meters (20 feet, 2 1/2 inches) and freshman Jordan Barton was tenth at 5.57 meters (18 feet, 3 1/4 inches). Blenk was also the runner-up in the triple jump wth a distance of 13.29 meters (43 feet, 7 1/4 inches) while Barton was seventh at 11.67 meters (38 feet, 3 1/2 inches). Blenk was third in the high jump while Woodruff finished fourth with both competitors clearing 1.77 meters (five feet, 9 3/4 inches). D'Angelo was fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

Freshman Gary Zack was seventh in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.65 meters (41 feet, six inches) while junior Matthew Wisotsky was eighth at 12.27 meters (40 feet, 3 1/4 inches) and junior Christian Seebode took tenth at 11.44 meters (37 feet, 6 1/2 inches).

Moravian sent ten competitors to the non-scoring 2009 Susquehanna University Open as the team's final meet before the 2009 Landmark Conference Champsionships. Senior Robert Shaffer placed third in the 55-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 6.57 seconds in the finals after a time of 6.66 in the preliminaries. Sophomore Eric Woodruff placed fourth in the event in 6.59 seconds, which also qualified him for the ECAC Championships. Woodruff ran a time of 6.60 seconds in the preliminaries.

Shaffer and Woodruff combined with sophomore Warner Jones and freshman Kyle D'Angelo to win the 4x200-meter relay in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.54. Moravian's 4x800-meter relay squad of senior Timothy Murphy, junior Steve Parisi and sophomores Connor Skutches and Jacob Tazik took second in an ECAC qualifying time of 8:01.19 while Jones, Skutches, senior Jeremiah Reinhart and freshman Steve Ambrosi posted an ECAC qualifying time of 10:35.89 in the 4,000-meter distance medley relay to finish third.

Moravian competed in its final tune-up to the 2009 Landmark Conference Championships by participating in the 18th Annual Bucknell University Winter Classic, a non-scored meet. The Greyhounds had a pair of individual winners with sophomore Eric Woodruff winning the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.62 seconds, and freshman Timothy Layng capturing the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.50 meters (14 feet, nine inches).

In other top ten track results, senior Robert Shaffer took fourth in the 60-meter dash in 7.13 seconds while Woodruff was fifth in 7.14 seconds. Woodruff had run a time of 7.13 seconds in the preliminaries. Sophomore Warner Jones placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in 23.05 seconds. Senior Jeremiah Reinhart took fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:39.69 seconds while freshman Matthew Lutcza was seventh in 15:55.37.

In the field events, senior Alan Woods was tied for second in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3 1/4 inches) while Woodruff took eighth in the long jump with a distance of 6.35 meters (20 feet, ten inches). Senior Blair Maginnis was sixth in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 14.86 meters (48 feet, nine inches).

Moravian had one competitior participate in the indoor pentathlon at the Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University. Junior Michael Blenk placed third with an ECAC qualifying point total of 3,225 points. Blenk ran a time of 8.97 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles to earn 752 points, and he qualified for the ECAC Championships with a leap of 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9 1/2 inches) in the long jump to earn 729 points. Blenk also scored 714 points for a height of 1.90 meters (six feet, 2 3/4 inches) in the high jump and 434 points for a distance of 9.13 meters (29 feet, 11 1/2 inches) in the shot put. Blenk finished the pentathlon with 596 points in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:07.11.

The Greyhounds captured first place out of 16 competing teams at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College. Moravian had a team score of 93 points, 25 points ahead of runner-up Johns Hopkins University, which had 68 points. The Greyhounds had one individual champion and a relay team take first place. Senior Blair Maginnis captured the shot put with an Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III qualifying toss of 14.83 meters (48 feet, eight inches) while the Moravian 4x800-meter relay squad of senior Timothy Murphy, juniors Steve Parisi and Steven DeFazio and freshman Matthew Luctza was first in a time of 8:26.01.

Moravian also had four runner-up finishes with sophomore Eric Woodruff taking second in the 55-meter dash in 6.66 seconds and the 200-meter dash in 23.03 seconds. Senior Jeremiah Reinhart was second in the mile run in a time of 4:30.87 while sophomore Connor Skutches was second in the 1,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:34.78.

In other top ten track results, sophomore Warner Jones took third in the 400-meter dash in 51.45 seconds, and he was tenth in the 200-meter dash in 23.61 seconds. Lutcza was fourth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:43.71 while Parisi finished sixth in 2:50.46. Freshman Zach Rivenbark took eighth in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:37.82 while sophomore Jacob Tazik was tenth in the 800-meter run in 2:05.53. Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad of Woodruff, Jones, senior Robert Shaffer and freshman Steve Ambrosi took fifth in a time of 1:35.96 while the 4x400-meter relay sqiad of Jones, Skutches, Parisi and Tazik was fifth in 3:33.78.

Junior Michael Blenk finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.82 meters (five feet, 11 1/2 inches), and he was eighth in the long jump with a leap of 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6 1/4 inches). Senior Alan Woods was third in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches) while freshman Timothy Layng also had an ECAC qualifying height of 4.27 meters (14 feet) to place fourth in the event.

Moravian placed seventh of 12 teams at the 17th Annual John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had 24 points while NCAA Division II Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania won the meet with 131 points. Senior Blair Maginnis led the Greyhounds with a school record and sixth place finish in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 15.55 meters (51 feet, 1/4 inch). Maginnis also took third in the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.07 meters (49 feet, 5 1/2 inches).

In other field results, senior Alan Woods was third in the pole vault, clearing an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Senior Robert Shaffer was tenth in the 60-meter dash preliminaries in 7.26 seconds. Woodruff was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.16 seconds while sophomore Warner Jones took tenth in 23.70 seconds. Jones was also eighth in the 400-meter dash in 53.26 seconds while senior Timothy Murphy took ninth in the 500-meter dash in 1:10.72. Freshman Matthew Lutcza was tenth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:13.33. Moravian's 4x800-meter relay squad of Murphy, senior Jeremiah Reinhart, junior Steve Parisi and sophomore Jacob Tazik took seventh in 8:35.99.

The Greyhounds returned to action for the first time in 2009 and competed at the Orange & Maroon Classic hosted by Landmark Conference rival Susquehanna University. Moravian had one first place individual finish in the non-scoring meet with senior Blair Maginnis winning the shot put with an Eastern College Athletic Conference qualifying toss of 14.46 meters (47 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Maginnis also took third in the 35-pound weight throw with an ECAC qualifying distance of 15.27 meters (50 feet, 1 1/4 inches), a distance that tied the Moravian record in the event.

Senior Alan Woods and freshman Timothy Layng each tied for fifth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.12 meters (13 feet, 6 1/4 inches). Sophomore Eric Woodruff led the Greyhounds on the track with a sixth place in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.31 seconds and an eighth place finish in the 55-meter dash in 6.75 seconds. Freshman Matthew Lutcza took tenth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:27.66 while freshman Steve Ambrosi was 11th in the 800-meter run in 2:06.85.

Moravian's distance medley relay "A" team of Ambrosi, senior Jeremiah Reinhart, junior Steve Parisi and sophomore Connor Skutches placed second in a time of 10:57.02 while the 4x400-meter relay squad of Ambrosi, Parisi, sophomore Warner Jones and freshman Christopher Gallogly took eighth in 3:38.82. The Greyhounds' distance medley relay "B" team of Lutzca, senior Timothy Murphy, sophomore Jacob Tazik and freshman Zach Rivenbank finished seventh in a time of 11:42.57.

Moravian began the 2008-09 season at the three-team, non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener. The Greyhounds had one individual champion with junior Michael Blenk capturing the long jump with a leap of 6.76 meters (22 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Senior Blair Maginnis had a pair of second place finishes, taking second in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 14.97 meters (49 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and placing second in the shot put with a toss of 14.84 meters (48 feet, 8 1/4 inches). Freshman Gary Zack had Moravian's other runner-up finish, taking second in an exhibition of the javelin thrown outside with a toss of 46.64 meters (153 feet).

The Greyhounds had several other top five finishers with freshman Timothy Layng placing third in the pole vault at a height of 13 feet, six inches (4.11 meters) followed by sophomore Adam Pollini in fourth at 13 feet (3.96 meters) and freshman Kyle D'Angelo in fifth at 12 feet (3.65 meters). Senior Justin Starcher was third in the exhibition of the javelin with a toss of 46.36 meters (152 feet, one inch) while Blenk took fourth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.95 seconds. Sophomore Connor Skutches placed third in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:40.17 while senior Jeremiah Reinhart took fourth at 2:40.29. Moravian's "A" 4x400-meter relay squad of Skutches, D'Angelo and freshmen Christopher Gallogly and Steve Ambrosi was third in a time of 3:52.33 while the "B" relay squad of Reinhart, junior Steven DeFazio, sophomore Jacob Tazik and freshman Jonathan Gutierrez placed fourth in 3:52.59.
