At 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (OH) College – Tied for 15th of 85         Moravian Individual Results              Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team had one competitor on the third and final day of the three-day 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (OH) College Saturday. The Greyhounds finished with 15 team points to tie for 15th with Concordia (WI) University of the 85 schools scoring a point. North Central College won the team title with 53 points.

Junior Eric Woodruff defended his title in the 200-meter dash, winning the 2010 race in 21.04 seconds for his second National Championship. Woodruff's title gives Moravian two in the meet with senior Anna Heim winning the women's pole vault on Thursday, and he becomes the fourth Greyhound and second male to win multiple national titles.

Woodruff joins Heim, Ozzie Brown, Jeff Cullingford and Christina Scherwin with two national championships, and his title is Moravian's 13th individual championship and the 12th from the track & field program.
 

Woodruff, who set the NCAA meet record in qualifying on Thursday in the 200-meter dash at 20.85 seconds, earns All-America honors for the fourth time in the last two years, and second time Saturday with the victory.  Woodruff defeated senior Stephen Headley of Springfield (MA) College by 0.11 seconds.

Woodruff earned All-America honors for the third time in his career an hour earlier when he placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.59 seconds, nearly a tenth of a second faster than his qualifying time on Friday.  Headley won the 100-meter dash in 10.33 seconds.

At 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (OH) College – No Team Score after second day           Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team had one competitor on the second day of the three-day 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (OH) College.

Junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, qualified for the finals in the 100-meter dash with the third fastest time in preliminary action. Woodruff was second in his heat and third of 16 runners in a time of 10.67 seconds.  He will run in the finals on Saturday at 2:40 p.m. 

Woodruff will also compete in the finals of the 200-meter dash on Saturday at 3:45 p.m., an event that he is the defending national champion and set an NCAA meet record in the preliminaries on Thursday.

The Moravian College men's track & field team had two competitors on the first day of the three-day 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships being hosted by Baldwin-Wallace (OH) College.

Junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right and the defending national champion in the 200-meter dash, posted an NCAA DIII meet record in the preliminaries of the event in 20.85 seconds.  The time is also a provisional qualifying time for the 2010 United States Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on June 23-27.  Woodruff, who will also be competing in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA meet, will run in the finals of the 200-meter dash on Saturday at 3:45 p.m. as he tries to defend his national championship.

Sophomore Gary Zack, pictured at left, finished eighth in his flight of the javelin throw and 15th of 16 overall at 53.43 meters (175 feet, three inches).  It was the second time at the NCAA Championships for Zack.

At Lions' Last Chance Meet hosted by The College of New Jersey – No Team Scores           Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team had two competitors at the Lions' Last Chance Meet hosted by The College of New Jersey. Sophomores Timothy Layng and Nicco Dalpiaz both competed in the pole vault, and both cleared an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height of 4.72 meters (15 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Layng was fourth and Dalpiaz placed fifth based on the number of jumps.

The Moravian College men's track & field team tied for third of 48 schools scoring points at the 2010 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Springfield College. The Greyhounds, the two-time defending champions entering the meet, scored 54 points to tie with host Spring field while Williams College was first with 58 points and Bates College was second at 56 points. Amherst College finished with 52 points as the top five teams were separated by just six points.

Moravian had three runner-up finishes on the second day of competition, and all three involved junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right. Woodruff placed second in the 100-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 10.65 seconds after qualifying first in the preliminaries, and he was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 21.49 seconds.

Woodruff began his day by running in the 4x100-meter relay with junior Warner Jones, sophomore Kyle D'Angelo and freshman Justin Taylor, and the quartet posted an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 41.56 seconds, the second fastest time in school history. Woodruff, Taylor and Jones teamed with senior Steve Parisi in the final event, the 4x400-meter relay to finish seventh in a time of 3:20.51.

Freshman Jonathan Heberling was fifth in the long jump, earning four points for Moravian with a distance of 6.68 meters (21 feet, 11 inches) while senior Mike Blenk, pictured at left, garnered five team points with a fourth place finish in the decathlon at 5,747 points.

Sophomore Steve Ambrosi was tenth in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.06 seconds while Parisi was 11th in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:55.48. Sophomore Matt Lutcza finished 14th in the 5,000-meter run in 16:17.44 while Taylor was 20th in the 400-meter dash in 51.26 seconds.

At 2010 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships hosted by Springfield College – Tied for 2nd of 19 after first day           Complete First Day Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team is tied for second of 19 schools after the first day of the 2010 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships being hosted by Springfield College. The Greyhounds, the two-time defending champions, are tied with the University of Rochester with 19 points while Williams College is first with 20 points.

Sophomore Gary Zack, pictured at right, scored eight points for Moravian with a runner-up finish javelin throw with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying toss of 59.35 meters (194 feet, nine inches). Freshman Tyler Potterton took seventh in the javelin at 55.72 meters (182 feet, ten inches) to earn two team points.

The Greyhounds scored their other nine points in the pole vault with sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz finishing third with an NCAA provisional qualifying and school record tying height of 4.80 meters (15 feet, nine inches) for six points. Sophomore Timothy Layng was sixth in the pole vault at 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) to earn three points.

Freshman Travis King was 11th in the triple jump at 13.68 meters (44 feet, 10 3/4 inches) on the first day of competition while senior Mike Blenk was in third place after the first half of the decathlon with 3,152 points.

Junior Eric Woodruff set the ECAC meet record in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash in 10.58 seconds, the top time in qualifying and moving on to the finals on Friday.

At Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet – No Team Scores            Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team had one competitor at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet. Sophomore Matt Lutcza was 25th in the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 15:09.44, the second fastest time in school history.

The Moravian College men's track & field team competed at the non-scoring NYC Qualifying Challenge at Ichan Stadium on Randall's Island, and had one individual winner, two NCAA qualifiers and six ECAC qualifiers. Junior Eric Woodruff captured the 200-meter dash in an NCAA Division III automatic, ECAC qualifying and school record time of 20.82 seconds. The time also provisionally qualified Woodruff for the 2010 USA Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on June 23-27. Woodruff, pictured at right, also ran a leg of Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team with junior Warner Jones, sophomore Kyle D'Angelo and freshman Justin Taylor that had an ECAC qualifying time of 42.12 seconds to place second.

Sophomore Steve Ambrosi was ninth in the 400-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 56.06 seconds while senior Steve Parisi placed tenth in the 800-meter run on 1:55.56. Taylor took 15th in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.90 while D'Angelo was 17th in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash in 22.90 seconds.

In the field events, sophomore Gary Zack took second in the javelin with an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 59.23 meters (194 feet, four inches). Freshman Tyler Potterton took fourth in the javelin at 49.92 meters (163 feet, nine inches) while freshman Jonathan Heberling was fifth in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 6.71 meters (22 feet, 1/4 inch). Freshman Travis King took 11th in the triple jump with a distance of 13.43 meters (44 feet, 3/4 inch) while senior Matt Wisotsky was 12th in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.52 meters (126 feet, four inches).

At 2010 Landmark Conference Championships at Susquehanna University – 1st of 6    Moravian Individual Results         Moravian Relay Results              Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team captured its third straight Landmark Conference Championship, winning the 2010 title over host Susquehanna University by just six points Sunday. As the teams went back-and-forth with the lead on the second day of the meet, the Greyhounds finished with 270 points while the Crusaders had 264 points. Juniata College placed third, nearly 100 points back at 168.

Freshman Jonathan Heberling was named the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Year at the end of the meet while freshman Justin Taylor was honored as the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year. Head coach Walt Wandall and his staff were honored as the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

On the second day of competiton, Moravian had five individual champions, one relay title, two NCAA qualifiers, five ECAC qualifiers and one school record. Junior Eric Woodruff won two of those titles, capturing the 100-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional, ECAC qualifying and school record time of 10.56 seconds and winning the 200-meter dash in an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 21.38 seconds. Woodruff also ran a leg on Moravian's winning 4x100-meter relay team with Taylor, pictured at left, sophomore Kyle D'Angelo and junior Warner Jones in an ECAC qualifying time of 42.11 seconds.

Senior Mike Blenk won the decathlon with a total of 5,470 points while senior Steve Parisi won the 800-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:54.58. Freshman Travis King had Moravian's final individual championship with a first place in the triple jump at 13.59 meters (44 feet, seven inches).

Taylor was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.82 seconds while Jones took third in 51.41 seconds. Sophomore Steve Ambrosi was eighth in the 400-meters in 52.87 seconds. D'Angelo took fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.25 seconds while sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz was sixth in 11.37 seconds and Taylor was eighth at 11.45 seconds. Taylor also placed third in the 200-meter dash in 22.54 seconds while D'Angelo was fourth in 22.61 seconds. Jones took fifth in the 200-meters in a time of 22.91 seconds while Dalpiaz was seventh at 23.24 seconds.

Blenk was fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.88 seconds while freshman Vincent Vasquez was eighth in 19.28 seconds. Ambrosi finished as the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles in 56.95 seconds while freshman Evan Lick placed seventh in 1:00.41 and Vasquez was eighth in 1:00.63.

Sophomore Matt Lutcza was third in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:35.97 while freshman Donald Noble took seventh in 16:03.61. Freshman Alex Macri was third in the 800-meter run in 1:55.81. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Taylor, Parisi, Macri and freshman Graham Matthews was second in a time of 3:25.09.

In the field events, Heberling, pictured at left, placed second in the triple jump at 12.49 meters (40 feet, 11 3/4 inches) while Blenkwas fifth at 12.37 meters (40 feet, seven inches) and Vasquez was seventh with a leap of 12.29 meters (40 feet, four inches). Heberling was also the runner-up in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches) while Blenk took fourth at 1.78 meters (five feet, ten inches).

Senior Matt Wisotsky was third in the shot put with a toss of 12.77 meters (41 feet, 10 3/4 inches) while senior Christian Seebode took fifth at 12.09 meters (39 feet, eight inches) and senior Daniel Mehmet was seventh at 11.78 meters (38 feet, 7 3/4 inches). Wisotsky also placed third in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.83 meters, 143 feet, nine inches) while sophomore Gary Zack took sixth at 38.70 meters (127 feet) and sophomore Mike Facchiano was eighth at 36.45 meters (119 feet, seven inches).

At 2010 Landmark Conference Championships at Susquehanna University – 1st of 6 after first day               Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team is first of six teams after the first day of competition at the 2010 Landmark Conference Championships being hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds have 76 points while the host Crusaders are second with 67 points and Juniata College is third with 59 points.

Moravian had one individual champion on the first day of the meet with sophomore Timothy Layng, pictured at right, winning the pole vault at an NCAA Division III provisional, ECAC qualifying and meet record height of 4.72 meters (15 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz cleared the same height but in more attempts to place second for the Greyhounds while sophomore Kyle D'Angelo was sixth at 4.26 meters.

Sophomore Gary Zack placed second in the javelin with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying toss of 58.95 meters (193 feet, five inches) while freshman Tyler Potterson was fifth at an ECAC qualifying distance of 56.33 meters (184 feet, ten inches). Senior Matt Wisotsky was the runner-up in the discus with a toss of 37.83 meters (124 feet, one inches) while senior Christian Seebode was third at 37.79 meters (124 feet).

Freshman Jonathan Heberling was second in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 6.76 meters (22 feet, 2 1/4 inches) while senior Mike Blenk was third at 6.64 meters (21 feet, 9 1/2 inches). Freshman Travis King, pictured at left, and sophomore Jordan Barton tied for sixth at 6.16 meters (20 feet, 2 1/2 inches).

On the track, sophomore Matt Lutcza placed third in the 10,000-meter run in a time of 33:30.45 while freshman Dylan Marton was fifth at 34:52.42. Junior Eric Woodruff won a pair of preliminary events, finishing first in the 100-meter dash in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 10.66 seconds, and leading the 200-meter dash preliminaries with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 21.60 seconds.

The Moravian College men's track & field team had four individual event winners at the non-scoring Lehigh University Games in the Greyhounds final tune-up to the 2010 Landmark Conference Championships.

Junior Eric Woodruff won the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.13 seconds while sophomore Matt Lutcza, pictured at right, captured first in the 5,000-meter run in 15:20.42. Sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz won the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.57 meters (15 feet) while freshman Travis King won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.74 meters (45 feet, one inch).

Sophomore Gary Zack was the runner-up in the javelin throw with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 61.51 meters (201 feet, one inch) while freshman Tyler Potterson was fifth in the javelin with an ECAC qualifying distance of 54.70 meters (179 feet, five inches) and senior Christian Seebode placed eighth at 48.91 meters (160 feet, five inches). Senior Matt Wisotsky was eighth in the hammer throw at 43.66 meters (143 feet, three inches), ninth in the shot put at 12.52 meters (41 feet, one inch) and tenth in the discus with a toss of 37.73 meters (123 feet, nine inches).

Sophomore Timothy Layng was fourth in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Senior Mike Blenk and freshman Jonathan Heberling tied for second in the long jump at 6.44 meters (21 feet, 1 1/2 inches) while sophomore Jordan Barton took seventh at 5.92 meters (19 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and King, pictured at left, was eighth at 5.91 meters (19 feet, 4 3/4 inches). Heberling was also fourth in the triple jump at 12.33 meters (40 feet, 5 1/2 inches) while Barton placed seventh at 11.39 meters (37 feet, 4 1/2 inches). Heberling was also fifth in high jump at 1.88 meters (six feet, two inches).

On the track, senior Steve Parisi finished fifth in the 800-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:54.98 while Blenk was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.78 seconds. Sophomore Kyle D'Angelo was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 22.87 seconds while Dalpiaz took eighth in 23.45 seconds. D'Angelo also placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in a time of 11.88 seconds while Dalpiaz was ninth at 11.89 seconds.

Junior Warner Jones placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in 51.11 seconds while freshman Donald Noble took eighth in the 1,500-meter run un 4:07.57. Sophomore Steve Ambrosi placed fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.64 seconds while freshman Evan Lick was ninth at 58.57 seconds and Blenk placed tenth in 1:00.12. Freshman Patrick Steinmann was tenth in the 5,000-meter run in 17:39.82.

At 116th Penn Relays – No Team Scores        Complete Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team had one relay team compete at the 116th Penn Relays hosted by The University of Pennsylvania at historic Franklin Field Friday. The Greyhounds 4x400-meter relay team of juniors Warner Jones and Eric Woodruff, sophomore Steve Ambrosi and freshman Alex Macri ran in the College Men's 4x400 Pop Haddleton MAC relay. The quartet placed ninth in a time of 3:28.29.

The Moravian College men's track & field team hosted the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational Saturday at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The Greyhounds had two individual first place finishes, three NCAA Division III Championship qualifiers including a relay team and seven ECAC qualifiers.

Sophomore Gary Zack, pictured at right, was the runner-up in the javelin but recorded an NCAA automatic and ECAC qualifying distance of 63.17 meters (207 feet, three inches), the second longest throw in school history while sophomore Timothy Layng won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 4.70 meters (15 feet, five inches). Freshman Donald Noble won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:20.19, the second fastest time in school history.

Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of junior Eric Woodruff, sophomores Nicco Dalpiaz and Kyle D'Angelo and freshman Justin Taylor placed fifth with an NCAA provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 41.81 seconds, the second fastest time in school history. Woodruff also hit the ECAC qualifying times in the 200-meter dash at 21.87 seconds to place second and in the 100-meter dash in 10.94 seconds, finishing third. Taylor took sixth in the 200-meter dash at 22.88 seconds while sophomroe Steve Ambrosi was sixth in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.52 seconds.

Sophomore Matthew Lutcza took fourth in the 1,500-meter run in a time fo 4:06.78 while senior Steve Parisi, pictured at left, was ninth in the 800-meter run at 1:57.43. Woodruff, Taylor, Parisi and junior Warner Jones helped the Greyhounds 4x400-meter relay team place second with an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.26.

Dalpiaz finished third in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) while freshman Travis King placed fifth in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.77 meters (45 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Freshman Jonathan Heberling was tenth in the long jump at 6.66 meters (21 feet, 10 1/4 inches), and he was also tenth in the high jump at 1.82 meters (five feet, 11 1/2 inches).

 

 

Host Greyhound Invitational – No Team Scores (First Day Results)        Complete First Day Results

The Moravian College men's track & field team opened the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational with two throwing events Friday afternoon at Rocco Calvo Field; however, the shot put was postponed until Saturday halfway through competition due to lightning.

Sophomore Gary Zack led the Greyhounds in the hammer throw, placing 20th with a toss of 39.12 meters (128 feet, four inches).

The Moravian College men's track & field team hosted the non-scoring Coach P Open in memory of former head coach Doug Pollard Saturday at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The Greyhounds had two individual first place finishes and a relay team take first. Junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, was first in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC Division III qualifying time of 10.82 seconds, and Woodruff, the defending NCAA Division III Champion in the 200-meter dash, won the 200 with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying and ECAC qualifying time of 21.75 seconds. Woodruff also ran a leg on Moravian's first-place 4x100-meter relay team with sophomores Kyle D-Angelo and Nicco Dalpiaz and freshman Justin Taylor that had an ECAC qualifying time of 42.92 seconds.

Dalpiaz also qualified for the ECAC meet in the pole vault with a fifth place finish after clearing a height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Sophomore Gary Zack, pictured below, was third in the javelin with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 59.81 meters (196 feet, three inches).

Other top ten field results for Moravian included freshman Travis King placing second in the triple jump at 13.61 meters (44 feet, eight inches) and senior Mike Blenk taking second in the long jump at 6.67 meters (21 feet, 10 3/4 inches). Freshman Jonathan Heberling was third in the long jump at 6.62 meters (21 feet, 8 3/4 inches), and Heberling and Blenk tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.80 meters (five feet 10 3/4 inches). Sophomore Timothy Layng took sixth in the pole vault at 4.25 meters (13 feet, 11 1/4 inches) while King was tenth in the long jump at 6.15 meters (20 feet, 2 1/4 inches). Freshman Vincent Vasquez was eighth in the triple jump at 11.77 meters (38 feet, 7 1/2 inches) while sophomore Jordan Barton took ninth at 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 1/4 inches). Senior Christian Seebode qas seventh in the discus at 35.48 meters (116 feet, five inches) while senior Matt Wisotsky took ninth in the discus at 34.93 meters ( 114 feet, seven inches).

On the track, freshman Evan Lick was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.66 seconds while freshman Justin Taylor took fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.53 seconds and eighth in the 200-meter dash in 23.00 seconds. D'Angelo was ninth in the 100-meter dash in 11.63 seconds while Blenk took seventh in the 110-meter high hudls in 16.85 seconds and Vasquez was tenth at 17.67 seconds.

In the distance events, sophomore Matt Lutcza was fifth in the 5,000-meter run in 15:36.47 while senior Steve Parisi took fifth in the 800-meter run in 1:57.41. Freshman Donald Noble was seventh in the 3,000-mneter steeplechase in 10:34.82. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Woodruff, Parisi, Taylor and freshman Alex Macri placed second in a time of 3:28.42.

The Moravian College men's track & field team opened the non-scoring Coach P Open in memory of former head coach Doug Pollard with two throwing events Friday afternoon at Rocco Calvo Field.

Senior Matt Wistosky, pictured at right, led the Greyhounds with a fifth place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.42 meters (40 feet, nine inches) while senior Daniel Mehmet placed eighth at 12.06 meters (39 feet, seven inches). Senior Christian Seebode finished ninth with a toss of 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 1/4 inches).

Wisotsky also led Moravian in the hammer throw with a toss of 39.78 meters (130 feet, six inches) while sophomore Gary Zack placed tenth at 37.51 meters (123 feet, one inch).

The Moravian College men's track & field team opened its 2010 outdoor season with its throwers competing at the Lafayette College 7-Way Meet.

Sophomore Gary Zack, pictured at right, was sixth in the javelin throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 55.67 meters (182 feet, eight inches) while freshman Tyler Potterton was seventh in another ECAC qualifying distance of 55.24 meters (181 feet, three inches).

Senior Matt Wisotsky took sixth in the hammer throw at 41.28 meters (135 feet, five inches) while senior Christian Seebode was eighth at 38.81 meters (127 feet, four inches) and sophomore Mike Facchiano was tenth at 29.36 meters (96 feet, four inches). Senior Daniel Mehmet was eighth in the shot put at 11.24 meters (36 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while Wisotsky finished ninth at 11.09 meters (36 feet, 4 3/4 inches). Facchiano placed tenth in the discus with a toss of 31.26 meters (102 feet, seven inches).

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team tied for 27th of 49 schools scoring points at the 2010 ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Smith (MA) College. The Greyhounds had ten points, tying with The University of Rochester while Ithaca College won the meet with 52.25 points. The University of Southern Maine was second with 48 points.

Moravian's lone points on the second day of competition came from junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, as he earned four points for a fifth place finish in the 55-meter dash in 6.55 seconds. Woodruff appeared to have won the 200-meter dash in a school record time of 21.88 seconds later in the meet but was disqualified for leaving his lane during the race.

The Greyhounds' only other competitor on the second day of the meet was freshman Jonathan Heberling, who placed 13th in the long jump with a leap of 6.56 meters (21 feet, 6 1/4 inches).

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team competed at the first day of the 2010 ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships being hosted by Smith (MA) College. The Greyhounds are tied for 15th of 30 scores that scored points on the opening day. Moravian netted six points while Cortland State is first with 29 points.

The Greyhounds received five points from sophomore Timothy Layng, who placed fourth in the pole vault with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height of 4.72 meters (15 feet, 5 3/4 inches). Moravian's other point was scored by freshman Travis King, who finished eighth in the triple jump at 13.83 meters (45 feet, 4 1/2 inches). Junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, advanced to the finals in the 55-meter dash after placing fifth in the preliminarties in a season best time of 6.51 seconds. Senior Michael Blenk competed in the indoor pentathlon, which consists of the 55-meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 1,000-meter run, placing 11th with 2,744 points.

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team won its second Landmark Conference Indoor Championship in the three-year history of the conference with a team score of 215 points at the 2010 meet hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds' closest competitor was the host Crusaders, who scored 143 points.

Moravian had six individual champions, two relay teams capture first place finishes and Moravian's coaching staff, pictured before, was named the 2010 Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Junior sprinter Eric Woodruff won a pair of events for the Greyhounds, capturing the 55-meter dash in an ECAC Division III qualifying time of 6.56 seconds and the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.17 seconds. Sophomore Timothy Layng won the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) while freshman Jonathan Heberling captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 6.74 meters (22 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Freshman Travis King won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.66 meters (44 feet, 9 3/4 inches) while senior Christian Seebode was first in the shot put with a toss of 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 1/4 inches).

Woodruff combined with sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz and Kyle D'Angelo and junior Warner Jones to win the 4x200-meter relay in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.67. The Greyhounds' 4x800-meter relay team of senior Steve Parisi, junior Jacob Tazik, sophomore Steve Ambrosi and freshman Alex Macri finished first in a time of 8:11.06.

Dalpiaz was third in the 55-meter dash in a time of 6.77 seconds after qualifying for the finals in a time of 6.73 seconds while freshman Justin Taylor was fifth in 6.77 seconds and Jones was sixth in the finals of the 55-meter dash in a time of 7.38 seconds. King placed eighth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter dash in 6.91 seconds while D'Angelo placed tenth in 7.01 seconds. Taylor also placed fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.71 seconds while Dalpiaz was sixth in the same time and D'Angelo finished eighth in 24.01 seconds.

Jones was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 51.94 seconds while Ambrosi finished fifth in 52.64 seconds and freshman Evan Lick took ninth in 54.55 seconds. Macri was fourth in the 800-meter run in 1:58.1 while Parisi was fifth in 1:58.2 and Tazik finished sixth at 2:00.0. Sophomore Matthew Lutcza was third in the mike run in a time of 4:27.47, and he was also third in the 5,000-meter run on 15:39.59. Freshman Donald Noble took fourth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:46.44 while freshman Dylan Marton took ffith in 15:59.44 and sophomore Zach Rivenbark was tenth in 16:33.37.

Senior Michael Blenk was the runner-up 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.15 seconds while freshman Vincent Vasquez took eighth in the preliminaties of the 55-meter hurdles in 8.61 seconds. Woodruff, pictured at right, Lick, Jones and Blenk placed second in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:34.43 while Noble, Rivenbark, sophomore Christopher Gallogly and freshman Jonathan Bellizio finished second in the 400-meter distance medley relay with a time of 10:58.17.

Heberling placed second in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.83 meters (six feet) while King was seventh at 1.73 meters (five feet, eight inches). Dalpiaz was the runner-up in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14 feet, 5 1/4 inches) while D'Angelo took sixth at 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Blenk was third in the long jump with a leap of 6.40 meters (21 feet) while King placed fourth at 6.24 meters (20 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and sophomore Jordan Barton finished sixth at 6.00 meters (10 feet, 8 1/4 inches).

Blenk finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 12.78 meters (41 feet, 11 1/4 inches) while Vasquez took fourth at 12.65 meters (41 feet, six inches). Senior Matt Wisotsky placed second in the shot put with a toss of 12.53 meters (41 feet, 1 1/2 inches) while sophomore Mike Facchiano finished seventh at 11.65 meters (38 feet, 2 3/4 inches) and senior Daniel Mehmet was ninth with a distance of 11.30 meters (37 feet, one inch). Seebode was the runner-up the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.12 meters (43 feet, 1/2 inch) while Wisotsky took fourth at 12.66 meters (41 feet, 6 1/2 inches) and sophomore Gary Zack placing seventh at 11.78 meters (38 feet, 7 3/4 inches).

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team had its final tune-up before the 2010 Landmark Conference Championships, competing at the non-scoring Keogh Invitational hosted by Haverford College. Junior Eric Woodruff won a pair of events, capturing the 55-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 6.54 seconds and the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.26 seconds. Sophomore Timothy Layng finished second in the pole vault with a school record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 4.76 meters (15 feet, 7 1/4 inches).

Sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz was third in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.55 meters (14 feet, 11 inches) while freshman Travis King was fourth in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.60 meters (44 feet, 7 1/2 inches). Senior Michael Blenk was fifth in the high jump at 1.80 meters (five feet, 10 3/4 inches) while freshman Jonathan Heberling was seventh, clearing the bar at 1.75 meters (five feet, 8 3/4 inches). Heberling took third in the long jump with a leap of 6.61 meters (21 feet, 8 1/4 inches) while Blenk finished fifth at 6.47 meters (21 feet, 2 3/4 inches).

Senior Christian Seebode placed fifth in the shot put with a distance of 12.10 meters (39 feet, 8 1/2 inches) while senior Matt Wisotsky finished seventh with a toss of 11.91 meters (39 feet, one inch). Senior Daniel Mehmet was eighth at 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while sophomore Mike Facchiano was ninth in the shot put at 11.51 meters (37 feet, 9 1/4 inches).

On the track, sophomore Matthew Lutcza was third in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 8:52.34, the second fastest time in school history, while Blenk, pictured at left, took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.36 seconds. Sophomore Warner Jones finished third in the 400-meter dash in a time of 51.73 seconds while sophomore Steve Ambrosi was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 52.94 seconds. Moravian's 4x200-meter relay team of Woodruff, Jones, Ambrosi and sophomore Kyle D'Angelo took third with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:32.41.

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team had six competitors compete at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Indoor Invitational led by junior Warner Jones, who placed third in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.65 seconds and seventh in the 400-meter dash in 53.06 seconds. Freshman Dylan Marton finished 14th in the 5,000-meter run on 16:15.54.

In the throwing events, senior Matthew Wisotsky, pictured at right, placed ninth in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 11.88 meters (38 feet, 11 3/4 inches), and he was 18th in shot put with a distance of 11.06 meters (36 feet, 3 1/2 inches). Senior Christian Seebode was tenth in the weight throw at 11.85 meters (38 feet, 10 1/2 inches) and 22nd in the shot put at 10.79 meters (35 feet, five inches) while sophomore Michael Facchiano was 20th in the weight throw at 10.52 meters (34 feet, 6 3/4 inches) and 20th in the shot put at 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 1/2 inches). Freshman Phillip Torres took 32nd in the shot put with a toss of 9.71 meters (31 feet, 10 1/4 inches).

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team finally got to compete at the New York City Armory after having their first trip cancelled by weather. The Greyhounds competed in the non-scoring Lafayette College-Rider University Winter Games. Moravian had a pair of ECAC qualifiers with junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, placing seventh in the 400-meter dash in 50.00 seconds, the second fastest time in school history, and sophomore Timothy Layng taking fifth in the pole vault at a school record height of 4.65 meters (15 feet, three inches). Layng's height also meets the NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height.

On the track, freshman Graham Matthews took fifth in the 1,000-meter run in a time of 2:42.97 while freshman Jonathan Bellizio took seventh in 2:44.60. Sophomore Matthew Lutcza finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:37.95 while freshman Donald Noble took 12th in 15:39.73. Sophomore Steve Ambrosi was 12th in the 500-meter dash in 1:08.30. Senior Steve Parisi was 10th in the 800-meter run in 1:59.38 while junior Jacob Tazik took 20th in the 800-meter run in a time of 1:59.46. Moravian's 4x800-meter relay team of Ambrosi, Parisi, Tazik and freshman Alex Macri placed ninth at 8:12.44.

Senior Michael Blenk was placed seventh in the long jump with a distance of 6.63 meters (21 feet, nine inches), and he was ninth in the high jump at 1.84 meters (six feet, half inch). Sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz finished seventh in the pole vault with a height of 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3 1/4 inches) while freshman Travis King took ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 13.40 meters (43 feet, 11 3/4 inches).

At New Balance Collegiate Invitational at New York City Armory – Second Day Cancelled

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team was scheduled to travel to New York City for the second day of the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the New York City Armory but the Greyhounds did not travel due to the snow storm in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

The Moravian College men's indoor track & field team tied for seventh of 13 NCAA Division II and Division III teams at the Thomson Invitational hosted by The University of Delaware. The Greyhounds scored 42 points to tie with Montclair State University while East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania placed first with 179.5 points and Lincoln University finished second with 74 points. Moravian had one individual winner with sophomore Matthew Lutcza placing first in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 15:36.44, the second fastest 5,000-meter indoor time in school history.

Junior Eric Woodruff placed second in the 200-meter dash in an ECAC Division III qualifying time of 22.63 seconds. Freshman Alex Macri was second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2:44.97 while freshman Donald Noble placed fourth in 2:50.91.

In field events, freshman Travis King took second in the triple jump with a leap of 13.30 meters (43 feet, 7 3/4 inches). Senior Matthew Witosky placed seventh in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 13.67 meters (44 feet, 10 1/4 inches) while senior Michael Blenk, pictured at right, finished eighth in the long jump at 6.34 meters (20 feet, 9 3/4 inches).

Moravian returned to action after a seven-week lay-off at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Orange & Maroon Classic. The Greyhounds had four individual champions, one relay champion and five ECAC Division III qualifiers with junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, winning the 55-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 6.60 seconds and the 200-meter dash in another ECAC qualifying time of 22.46 seconds. Sophomore Timothy Layng captured the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 4.57 meters (15 feet) while freshman Travis King won the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 13.85 meters (45 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Moravian's 4x200-meter "A" relay team of Woodruff, sophomores Kyle D'Angelo and Nicco Dalpiaz and freshman Justin Taylor was first in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:33.68.

The Greyhounds had several other top ten finishers with freshman Donald Noble placing second in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 16:27.59 while sophomore Matt Lutcza finishing third in the 3,000-meter run in 9:03.91. Sophomore Steve Ambrosi took seventh in the 800-meter run on 2:02.05 while senior Michael Blenk took ninth in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles in 8.59 seconds. Taylor was ninth in the preliminaties of the 55-meter dash in 6.88 seconds. The Greyhounds 4,000-meter distance medley relay team of Lutcza, senior Steve Parisi, junior Jacoub Tazik and freshman Alex Macri placed second in 10:47.79 while the 4x400-meter "A" relay squad of Woodruff, Ambrosi, Taylor and Tazik was seventh in 3:37.81.

Blenk finished third in the long jump at 6.46 meters (21 feet, 2 1/2 inches) while freshman Jonathan Heberling was fourth in the long jump at 6.40 meters (21 feet). King placed tenth in the long jump with a leap of 6.02 meters (19 feet, nine inches) while Blenk took ninth in the triple jump at 12.07 meters (39 feet, 7 1/4 inches). Heberling was fourth in the high jump at 1.83 meters (six feet) while sophomore Nicco DalPiaz was third in the pole vault with a height of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Senior Matt Wisotsky finished third in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.92 meters (42 feet, 4 3/4 inches) while sophomore Gary Zack took sixth at 12.12 meters (39 feet, 9 1/4 inches). Senior Christian Seebode was ninth in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss of 11.55 meters (37 feet, 10 3/4 inches).

Moravian began the 2009-10 season at the three-team, non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener. The Greyhounds had three individual champions and five ECAC Division III qualifiers with freshman Chidibere Ezemma winning the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 22.94 seconds and capturing the 400-meter dash in 52.25 seconds. Junior Eric Woodruff, pictured at right, won the 60-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 7.04 seconds, which is the second fastest time in school history in the event while Ezemma was the runner-up at 7.15 seconds. Moravian's other ECAC qualifiers were sophomore Timothy Layng, who placed second in the pole vault at 4.50 meters (14 feet, nine inches), freshman Travis King, who was the runner-up in the triple jump with a distance of 13.60 meters (44 feet, 7 1/2 inches), and senior Mike Blenk, who was third in the long jump at 6.71 meters (22 feet, 1/4 inch).

The Greyhounds had several other top five finishers with sophomore Kyle D'Angelo placing third in the 200-meter dash in 24.18 seconds. Junior Jacob Tazik was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:04.28 while Blenk, pictured at left, was tied for fifth in the high jump at 1.80 meters (five feet, 10 3/4 inches), and he was the runner-up in the 60-meter hurdles at 9.04 seconds. Sophomore Nicco Dalpiaz took fourth in the pole vault at a height of 4.35 meters (14 feet, 3 1/4 inches) while freshman Jonathan Heberling was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.65 meters (21 feet, ten inches). Senior Matthew Wisotsky took fifth in the 35-pound weight throw with a toss opf 12.62 meters (41 feet, five inches).

With the weather warm enough at the start of the meet, the teams went outside to throw the javelin, and Moravian sophomore Gary Zack took third with a throw of 58.09 meters (190 feet, seven inches) while senior Daniel Mehmet was fifth at 45.26 meters (148 feet, six inches). Moravian also had two relay teams compete in the 4x400-meter relay. The Greyhounds' "B" squad of Ezemma, Woodruff, junior Warner Jones and freshman Vincent Vasquez placed second in 3:36.01 while the "A" team of Tazik, sophomores Steve Ambrosi and Christopher Gallogly and freshman Justin Taylor finished third in 3:45.25.
