The
Greyhound Volleyball team reached the Commonwealth Conference Championship
match for the seventh consecutive year and the squad was the top seed
in the 2002 Eastern College Athletic Conference South Championships for
the second straight season. The Hounds posted a 26-10 record and has
won over 20 matches in each of the last seven seasons. Tenth-year head
coach Shelley Bauder had three players earn All-Conference
Honors and two players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association
All-Mid Atlantic Team.
Juniors setter Amy Lawrence (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic
HS) and outside hitter Kim Zipf (Wyomissing, PA/Holy
Name HS) were named to the All-Conference First Team and the
American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Team for the
second straight season. Lawrence broke her own school
record for assists in a season with 1,423. She also led the Greyhounds
with 57 service aces and she added 364 digs, 124 kills, a .309 hitting
percentage and 29 blocks. Zipf led Moravian with 446
kills and 382 digs and became the fourth Moravian player to reach 1,000
career kills. She also had a .303 hitting percentage, 22 service aces,
and 19 blocks.
Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury
HS) earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team and earned
Honorable Mention honors to the 2002 AVCA. She led the team with 92
blocks and contributed 391 kills, a .307 hitting percentage, 109 digs,
and 41 service aces.
Junior middle hitter Shannon McNeil (Reading, PA/Reading Central
Catholic) added 262 kills, 100 digs, 61 blocks, and had a
.312 hitting percentage. Junior Alissa Bucsi (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem
Catholic) was second on the team with 381 digs in the new
libero position. Senior outside hitter Sara Walkiewwicz (Bethlehem,
PA/Bethlehem Catholic) contributed 219 kills with a .179 hitting
percentage, 251 digs, and 34 service aces, while junior defensive specialist Andrea
Frankenfield (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus HS) added 210 digs and 46
service aces. Sophomore outside hitter Christina Wallace (Bethlehem,
PA/Bethlehem Catholic) had 173 kills with a .239 hitting percentage,
155 digs, and 34 service aces.
Junior Mary Kate Cordisco (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame) added
105 kills and 46 digs, while classmate Sara Hollenbacher (Reading,
PA/Reading Central Catholic) contributed 84 kills with a .242
hitting percentage, and 25 digs. Senior Vicki Fisher (East Brunswick,
NJ/East Brunswick HS) had 23 kills and 12 digs.
