2003 Review

The Greyhound Volleyball team reached the Commonwealth Conference Championship match for the eighth consecutive year and the squad was the top seed in the 2003 Eastern College Athletic Conference South Championships for the third straight season.

The Hounds posted a 26-10 record and has won over 20 matches in each of the last eight seasons. Eleventh-year head coach Shelley Bauder had two players earn All-Conference Honors and two players named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid Atlantic Team.

Senior setter Amy Lawrence (Gettysburg, PA/Delone Catholic HS) was named to the All-Conference First Team for the third consecutive season. Lawrence led the Greyhounds with 1,010 assists and 334 digs, while also adding 47 service aces, 78 kills, a .251 hitting percentage and 29 blocks. Lawrence completed her career as the school record holder in career assists with 4,682 and in career service aces with 229.

Senior outside hitter Kim Zipf (Wyomissing, PA/Holy Name HS) was named to the All-Conference Second Team and the American Volleyball Coaches Association Honorable Mention Mid-Atlantic Region Team. Zipf contributed 421 kills, 18 assists, 325 digs, a .272 hitting percentage, 22 service aces, and 19 blocks. Zipf set the school record in kills with 1,516 career kills, and she is second all-time in career digs with 1,574.

Sophomore middle hitter Lindsey Siracusa (Yardley, PA/Pennsbury HS) led the team with 120 blocks and 398 kills. She had a .273 hitting percentage, 127 digs, and 41 service aces. Senior middle hitter Shannon McNeil (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic HS) led the Hounds with a .290 hitting percentage and added 243 kills, 125 digs, 66 blocks, and 50 service aces. Senior Sara Hollenbacher (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic HS) contributed 161 kills, a .272 hitting percentage, 118 digs, 40 blocks, and 18 service aces.

Junior outside hitter Christina Wallace (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) led the team with 75 service aces and also contributed 357 kills with a .193 hitting percentage, 309 digs, and 34 blocks. Senior Mary Kate Cordisco (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame HS) added 207 kills, a .168 hitting percentage, 51 service aces, 99 digs, and 34 blocks. Cordisco was featured in Sports Illustrated's Faces in the Crowd after setting an all-division NCAA record with 25 consecutive service points in a match against Washington College on the first day of the season. Freshman Valerie Korsak (Coplay, PA/Whitehall HS) contributed 42 kills with a .241 hitting percentage, 357 assists, 13 service aces, 96 digs, and 11 blocks.

Senior defensive specialist Andrea Frankenfield (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus HS) added 223 digs and 38 service aces, while Senior Alissa Bucsi (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) was third on the team with 314 digs in the libero position. Freshman Ashley Hugo (Bath, PA/Northampton HS) added 22 digs and 8 service aces in her debut season.

Moravian had eight student-athletes named to the 2003 Middle Atlantic Corporation Fall All-Academic Team including Lawrence, Zipf, Frankenfield, Bucsi, McNeil, Hollenbacher, Cordisco and Wallace.
