The fourth seeded Greyhounds had their 2008 season come to a close with a 25-13, 25-8, 25-12 loss to top seed and second ranked Juniata College in the semifinals of the Landmark Conference Championship Tournament. Senior outside hitter Stephanie Struble and sophomore right side hitter Molly DuVall each had three kills to lead Moravian with Struble having a pair of digs and a service ace while DuVall had four digs. Freshman outside hitter Katie Moquete and sophomore hitter/setter Christine Poole each had two kills for the Greyhounds while sophomore middle hitter Christine Reeser had two blocks. Freshman setter Kristin Hannings contributed nine assists and two digs while freshman libero Ashley Schmidt had a team high 14 digs. Sophomore defensive specialist Katie Kercher added three digs in the match. Senior Amber Thomas led Juniata with seven kills and six digs while senior setter Beth Kozak had 19 assists and nine digs. Drew Barnhart also added seven kills and three blocks while libero Megan Sollenberger had a team high 12 digs to go with two service aces and three assists.

Fourth seeded Moravian overcame a one-hour delay to the start of the match and a slow start once action began to post a 24-26, 25-14, 25-17, 25-16 victory over fifth seeded The Catholic University of America in the first round of the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds advance to take on top seed and number one ranked Juniata College in a semifinal match in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on Saturday, November 8th at 11:00 a.m. The start of Wednesday night’s match was delayed an hour after Catholic was late arriving in Bethlehem.
However, the Cardinals were the hot team once action started led almost the entire first set including a lead of 21-16. Moravian had the set tied three times before taking a brief 23-22 lead. Catholic responded with four of the next five points for the win. The Cardinals held brief leads in the other three sets before the Greyhounds took control of each one midway through the set.
Senior outside hitter Stephanie Struble led Moravian with 19 kills, 16 digs and three service aces while freshman outside/middle hitter Katie Moquete had 16 kills and a pair of service aces. Sophomore middle hitter Christine Reeser contributed seven kills and three blocks while sophomore right side hitter Molly DuVall had six kills and nine digs for the Greyhounds. Freshman setter Kristin Hannings led Moravian with 29 assists to go with five kills, eight digs and two service aces while sophomore setter/hitter Christine Poole had 18 assists, 12 digs, two service aces and two kills. Freshman libero Ashley Schmidt contributed a team high 24 digs while sophomore defensive specialist Katie Kercher added 11 digs and a team leading four service aces.
Senior middle hitter Kilah Fox led Catholic with eight kills, 11 digs and three blocks while freshman outside hitter Katina Baccetti added seven kills and 12 digs. Freshman middle hitter Molly Owen also had seven kills for the Cardinals to go with two blocks while junior middle hitter Lynn Brown added six kills. Junior outside hitter Kim Ray had 16 digs, six kills and two service aces while sophomore setter Katie Norberg had a team high 20 assists to go along with 11 digs and two kills. Freshman libero Gabrielle Dipasquantonio had a match high 27 digs for the Cardinals.

Sophomore middle hitter Mary King had 11 of her match high 18 kills in the final three games to help rally Moravian to a 17-25, 25-27, 27-25, 25-14, 15-12 non-conference victory over rival Muhlenberg College in Johnston Hall. The Mules won the first set easily, 25-17, with Moravian having a negative hitting percentage. The Greyhounds would hold a lead in the second set only to see the Mules eventually prevail, 27-25. Moravian took the third set by the same score, forcing a fourth set. Midway through the fourth set, the Greyhounds expanded a 12-10 lead to 21-10 and eventually won 25-14. The fifth and final set went back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than two points until Moravian won 15-12. King added seven digs, two blocks and a service ace to her 18 kills while Greyhound freshman outside hitter Katie Moquete added 15 kills, including the match-winning kill off of a block attempt, 11 digs, three blocks and a pair of service aces.
