III National Championship Tournament First Round at Randolph-Macon College,

The Greyhounds had their 2005-06 season come to a close with a 93-80
loss to Greensboro (NC) College in the First Round of the NCAA Division
III National Championship Tournament in a four-team site at Randolph-Macon
College. Moravian finishes its season with a 21-7 record in the team's
first trip to the NCAA Tournament since the 1992-93 season. The Greyhounds
jumped out to a quick five-point lead, 7-2, just over two and a half
minutes into the game. Moravian would hold the lead until the 10:38
mark when the Pride moved ahead, 23-21. The game would go back and fourth
with Greensboro eventually running out to a trio of four-point leads,
the final one at 46-44 with 1:55 remaining in the half. Moravian would
send the game to the intermission tied, 49-49, on a three-pointer by
senior forward Stephanie Seaman with 34 seconds on the clock. Seaman
scored 23 points in the first half for the Greyhounds. Both teams shot
very well in the first half with Moravian making 18 of 24 field goals
(52.9 percent), five of 11 three-pointers (45.4 percent) and eight of
11 free throws (72.7 percent). Greensboro was 19 of 37 (51.4 percent)
from the floor, six of 12 behind the three-point line and five of six
at the foul line (88.3 percent). Moravian had a 19-18 edge on the boards
in the first half while both teams committed ten turnovers. As well
as the teams' shot in the first half, was as cold as they were in the
second half. The Pride edged out to a 55-51 lead at the 16:07 mark before
Moravian responded with five points to take its final lead of the game,
56-55, with 15:08 to play on a three-pointer by junior guard Katie Rizman.
Greensboro went on an 11-2 run to take a 66-58 lead at the 10:37 mark.
Moravian would eventually get back within two points at 74-72 on a lay-up
by junior forward Kelly Applegate with 3:55 remaining. However, the
Greyhounds could not overcome the Pride's free throw shooting in the
final four minutes. Greensboro scored its final 19 points at the foul
line, making 19 of 22 attempts in the final 3:32. Moravian made just
ten of 42 field goal attempts in the second half (23.8 percent) while
hitting just two of 12 three-pointers and nine of 12 free throws. Greensboro
shot a little better, making nine of 25 field goal attempts (36.0 percent),
two of six three-pointers and 24 of 31 free throws (77.4 percent). The
Pride also out-rebounded Moravian 35-30 in the second half for a 53-49
edge on the boards in the game. Moravian was forced into ten second
half turnovers while Greensboro had nine miscues in the second half.
Seaman led a trio of Greyhounds in double-figures with a career and
game high 28 points to go with ten rebounds and four steals. Seaman
concludes her career eighth at Moravian in scoring with 1,255 points
and third in rebounds with 792. Applegate tossed in 19 points and added
nine rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots while junior forward
Jenny Hackleman contributed 14 points and seven rebounds. Junior guard
Rachel Berlin tossed in eight points and had four rebounds and three
steals while Rizman finished with five points and three rebounds. Sophomore
guard Sara Steinman contributed six assists, three rebounds and three
points for the Greyhounds while sophomore guard LaToya Blake had three
points, three assists and four rebounds. For Greensboro, junior guard
Staci Humphrey had 24 points and eight assists while senior forward/center
Sirlena Moore contributed 23 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and
a pair of blocked shots. Junior center Amoria Bird had 11 points and
eight rebounds for the Pride while freshman forward/guard Jamie Montsinger
had 12 points and five rebounds. Freshman guard Mary Porter was also
in double figures for Greensboro with ten points to go with seven rebounds
and five assists. Freshman guard/forward Katie Freeman added nine points
in the Pride victory.

At Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference
Championships - Lost 75-52 Boxscore
For the fourth consecutive year, Moravian came up short in the Commonwealth
Conference Championship game, falling to Messiah College, 75-52. This
was the second straight year Moravian fell to the Falcons in the title
contest and third time in four years. Messiah earns the Commonwealth
Conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III National Championship
Tournament with the victory, the Falcons' eighth trip in the last 11
years. Moravian has to wait until Sunday night when the selections are
announced to see if they have earned one of the 21 Pool C/at-large berths
available which would be Moravian's first berth in the NCAA Tournament
since the 1992-93 season. Messiah jumped out to an earlier lead and
headed into the intermission with a 32-22 lead. The Falcons were 13
of 31 from the floor (41.9 percent) with three three-pointers in the
first half. Messiah was just three of seven at the foul line, but had
a 26-11 advantage on the boards and committed just ten first half turnovers
while Moravian made 16 turnovers in the first half. Moravian struggled
from the floor in the first 20 minutes, making just nine of 28 field
goal attempts (32.1 percent), three three-pointers and its only free
throw attempt. Messiah would continue to build on its lead in the second
half by shooting 12 of 28 (42.9 percent) with four three-pointers and
15 of 24 free throws (62.5 percent). On the other hand, Moravian's shooting
woes continued in the second half with the Greyhounds making just 12
of 39 field goal attempts (30.8 percent) with one three-pointers and
five of seven free throws. Moravian, one of the top free throw shooting
teams in the country and the nation's leader in free throws made and
attempted, was just six of eight at the foul line in the game while
Messiah was 18 of 31. The Falcons also finished the game with a 49-34
edge in rebounds. Moravian made ten turnovers in the second half while
Messiah committed just eight second half miscues. For Moravian, junior
forward Kelly Applegate scored a team high 17 points and grabbed a game
high 15 rebounds. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman tossed in 12 points
to go with four rebounds and four assists while senior guard Nicole
Savino had ten points and three steals off the bench. Junior forward
Jenny Hackleman had five points while sophomore guard LaToya Blake and
junior guard Rachel Berlin each tossed in three points. For Messiah,
junior forward Sarah Ringer led a trio of players in double figures
with 19 points to go with four rebounds. Senior forward Eli Cook and
sophomore guard Nicki Lobach each netted 18 points. Cook added nine
rebounds, six steals and three assists in the victory while Lobach had
five boards and three assists. Freshman forward Ashley Brooks grabbed
a team high 11 rebounds for the Falcons while freshman guard Christa
Weinrich had seven points. Sophomore guard Lauren Schurr contributed
six points and three assists while sophomore guard Amy Reed had five
points and four rebounds for Messiah.

Vs. Widener University in Commonwealth Conference
Semifinals - Won 79-73 Boxscore
The Greyhounds earned their fourth straight trip to the Commonwealth
Conference Championship game with a 79-73 victory over Widener University
in Commonwealth Semifinal in Johnston Hall behind a double-double from
junior forward Kelly Applegate, who had 33 points and ten rebounds.
Moravian advances to play top seeded Messiah College on Saturday, February
25th in the Commonwealth Conference Championships game in Grantham tipping
off at 3:00 p.m. With the game tied at 4-4, Widener went on an 8-2 run
to take a 12-6 lead with 15:24 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds
battled back and took a 21-19 lead with just over ten minutes remaining
in the half only to see the Pioneers score eight straight points for
a 27-21 lead with 7:25 before the intermission. Moravian would pull
within two points, 40-38, with just 15 seconds left in the first half
on a jumper by senior forward Stephanie Seaman. Both teams shot well
in the first half with Moravian making 15 of 29 field goal attempts
(51.7 percent) and eight of nine free throws (88.9 percent) while Widener
was 17 of 35 in the first half (48.6 percent), four of ten behind the
three-point line and two of three at the foul line. Moravian went to
the break with an 18-15 advantage in rebounds, and the Greyhounds had
committed seven turnovers while Widener had six turnovers. The Greyhounds
started the second half by taking a quick 41-38 lead on a three-pointer
by Seaman. The game would go back and forth until it was tied at 50-50
with 13:19 to play. Widener would score four straight points to take
its biggest lead of the half at 54-50 with 10:58 left. Moravian responded
and retook the lead for good at 57-56 on a pair of Seaman free throws
with 9:29 remaining in the game. The Greyhounds would eventually push
the lead to double digits, leading by as many as 12 points at 72-60
with 4:31 left. Moravian, one of the top free throw shooting teams in
the nation, iced the game at the foul line, making nine of 12 free throws
in the final four and a half minutes. The Greyhounds were 17 of 22 at
the foul line in the second half (77.3 percent) and 11 of 25 from the
floor (44 percent) with two three-pointers. Widener struggled from the
floor, making just nine of 28 field goal attempts (32.1 percent); however,
the Pioneers were 15 of 17 at the foul line. Moravian finished the game
with a 35-34 edge in rebounds, and the Greyhounds had nine turnovers
in the second half while Widener committed 12 miscues. Moravian had
three players in double figures led by Applegate, the Commonwealth Conference
Player of the Year, who scored 98 points in three games versus the Pioneers
this season. Seaman added 22 points and a game high 14 rebounds for
the Greyhounds while junior forward Jenny Hackleman had ten points and
six rebounds to go with team highs of five assists and three blocked
shots. Hackleman now has 578 career rebounds moving into seventh in
school history while Seaman became the ninth player to score 1,200 career
points. Junior guard Katie Rizman tossed in five points and dished out
three rebounds for Moravian while sophomore guard Sara Steinman had
four points. Sophomore guard LaToya Blake made a team high three steals
in the Greyhounds' victory. Senior forward Chelsea Luhta led Widener
with 28 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists, and Luhta
was 11 for 11 at the foul line. Sophomore forward Dominique Kidd and
freshman forward Kelley Guarrera each scored 12 points with Kidd grabbing
ten boards. Freshman guard Megan Sipple had 13 points off the bench
for the Pioneers while senior guard Linette Babiarz had six points and
six assists for Widener.

Vs. Elizabethtown College - Won 90-74 Boxscore
Moravian finished out the 2005-06 regular season with a 90-74 victory
over Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference action in Johnston
Hall. The victory was the Greyhounds' 20th of the season, the program's
second straight 20-plus win season and the 13th in school history. Moravian
will be the second seed in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals and
host third seeded Widener University on Wednesday, February 22nd at
7:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall. Elizabethtown ran out to an early 16-9 lead
in the first six minutes of the game. Moravian would be within one point
on three occasions; however, the Blue Jays built the lead up to eight
points at 26-18 with 8:15 remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds
went on a 13-4 run to take their first lead of the game at the 2:31
mark, 31-30. Moravian would go to the break with a 37-34 lead. The Greyhounds
struggled from the field in the first half, making just 11 of 28 field
goal attempts (39.3 percent) and just two of six three-pointers. Moravian
was 13 of 15 (86.7 percent) at the foul line, but committed 14 turnovers.
On the other hand, the Blue Jays were hot from the floor in the first
20 minutes, making 13 of 23 field goal attempts (56.5 percent), two
of four three-pointers and six of seven (85.7 percent) free throws.
Elizabethtown also had a 16-13 edge on the boards in the first half,
but the Blue Jays were forced into 20 turnovers before the intermission.
The game remaining close early in the second half with Elizabethtown
taking a one-point lead twice, the final time at 42-41 with 17:31 remaining
on the clock. Moravian senior Stephanie Seaman connected on a three-pointer
to give the Greyhounds the lead back for good and fuel a 9-0 run, putting
Moravian up 50-42 with 13:31 left. The Greyhounds eventually pushed
the lead into double digits with just over nine minutes remaining, and
Moravian's largest lead of the game was 20 points on three different
occasions. With 4:10 remaining on the clock, junior forward Kelly Applegate
became the 17th player in Moravian history to score 1,000 career points
on a lay-up that gave Moravian a 78-60 lead. The Greyhounds shot much
better in the second half, making 18 of 35 field goal attempts (51.4
percent), three of six three-pointers and 14 of 16 free throw attempts
(87.5 percent). Elizabethtown made 12 of 30 field goal attempts (40.0
percent), two of four three-pointers and 14 of 21 free throws (66.7
percent) in the second half. Both teams had eight turnovers after the
intermission, and the Blue Jays finished the game with a 37-34 advantage
on the boards. Applegate was one of three Greyhounds to score in double
figures with a team high 23 points on senior day. Applegate also had
five rebounds and a pair of blocked shots. Seaman added 18 points and
a team high eight rebounds while junior forward Jenny Hackleman contributed
15 points and three steals. Sophomore guard Sara Steinman had eight
points and three assists for Moravian while junior guard Katie Rizman
tossed in seven points to go with four assists and three steals. Senior
guard Nicole Savino, senior forward Heather MacDonald and junior guard
Rachel Berlin each had four points while sophomore guard Megan Kocon
netted five points off the bench for the Greyhounds. Sophomore guard
LaToya Blake was held scoreless in the game but led Moravian with six
assists and six steals. For Elizabethtown, forward Erin Walton scored
a game-high 29 points to go with six rebounds, seven assists and three
steals. Forward Cristin Braun was the only other Blue Jay in double
figures with ten points to go along with six rebounds and four assists.
Forward Audrey Hitz added nine points and six rebounds before fouling
out of the game.

Vs. Widener University - Won 68-64 Boxscore
The Greyhounds clinched second place in the Commonwealth Conference
Tournament with a 68-64 victory over Widener University at Johnston
Hall. Moravian and the Pioneers will meet again in Bethlehem on Wednesday,
February 22nd at 7:00 p.m. in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals.
It will be the third straight season the two squads have met in the
conference tournament in a game played in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds
scored the first four points of the game before Widener tied the game
at 4-4 with 17:22 on the clock. Moravian went on an 11-0 over the next
2:30 to build a 15-4 lead; however, the Pioneers responded with an 11-0
run of their own to tie the score again at 15-15 with 12:49 to play
before halftime. Moravian immediately retook the lead and headed to
the intermission with a 37-31 edge. The Greyhounds were 12 of 30 from
the floor (40 percent) with two three-pointers and 11 of 12 (91.7 percent)
at the foul line in the first half. Widener had 25-12 advantage in rebounds
at the break; however, the Pioneers had also committed 18 turnovers
in the first 20 minutes while Moravian had just nine turnovers. Widener
made nine of 25 field goal attempts in the first half (36 percent) with
two three-pointers and an 11 of 15 performance at the foul line (73.3
percent). The Greyhounds led the entire second half, pushing the lead
to double digits twice with 11-point leads of 61-50 and 64-53, the latter
with 6:38 remaining in the game. Widener tried a rally late in the game,
pulling within four points three times in the final two and a half minutes.
The Greyhounds struggled shooting the ball in the second half, making
just eight of 28 field goal attempts (28.6 percent) with two three-pointers,
and Moravian was just 13 of 20 (65 percent) at the foul line after the
break. Widener, which finished the contest with a 51-35 advantage on
the boards, also struggled in the second half, making 11 of 35 field
goal attempts (31.4 percent) with two three-pointers and nine of 12
free throws (75 percent). Both teams committed ten turnovers in the
second half. Moravian had another big game from junior forward Kelly
Applegate. Applegate, who was named the Lehigh Valley Small College
Women's Basketball Player of Year earlier in the day, netted 31 points
to go with six rebounds, four blocked shots and three steals. This was
Applegate's second straight 30-plus point effort and fourth of the season
including both games against Widener. Applegate is now just 17 points
shy of becoming the 17th women's basketball player at Moravian to score
1,000 career points. Junior forward Jenny Hackleman contributed 11 points
and a team high nine rebounds in the victory for the Greyhounds while
sophomore guards LaToya Blake and Sara Steinman and junior guards Rachel
Berlin and Katie Rizman all scored five points. Blake added five rebounds
while Rizman dished out four assists. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman
had eight rebound, six steals, five assists, four points and three blocked
shots in the Moravian victory. For Widener, senior forward Chelsea Luhta
and freshman guard Beth Dessart Mager each scored 15 points while sophomore
guard/forward Dominique Kidd grabbed a game high ten rebounds to go
with nine points. Luhta added six rebounds while Dessart Mager had five
boards. Freshman guard Megan Sipple contributed 11 points and seven
rebounds off the bench for the Pioneers while sophomore forward/center
Janae Ostrowski had four blocked shots. Freshman forward Kelley Guarrera
contributed eight points and eight rebounds for Widener.

At Messiah College - Lost 69-55 Boxscore
Moravian dropped its third conference game of the season, falling to
nationally-ranked Messiah College, 69-55, in the team's final road game
of the regular season. The contest featured two of the top teams in
the nation with the Falcons being ranked 12th in this week's D3hoops.com
Top 25 Poll and 15th in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches'
Poll while the Greyhounds received votes in the D3hoops.com poll and
were 25th in the Coaches' Poll. The game was close early with Messiah
holding a 10-8 lead with about 12 minutes remaining in the half, before
a 6-0 run gave the Falcons a 16-8 lead. Messiah headed into the break
with a 33-24 lead. Moravian struggled from the floor in the first half,
making just nine of 37 field goal attempts (24.3 percent) and just one
three-pointer while going five-for-five at the foul line. On the other
hand, Messiah made 15 of 34 field goal attempts in the first half with
three of six free throws. In the second half, Moravian would pull within
three points before the Falcons pushed the lead to double figures for
the final ten minutes of the game. Moravian shot better in the second
half, making 11 of 25 field goal attempts (44 percent) with four three-pointers.
The Greyhounds, who lead the nation in free throws attempted and made,
were just five of eight at the foul line in the second half (62.5 percent)
and ten of 13 for the game. Messiah won the game at the foul line, going
24 of 26 (92.3 percent) in the second half, and the Falcons were just
six of 20 from the floor (30 percent) after the intermission. Messiah
won the battle on the boards with a 44-32 advantage, and the Falcons
committed 18 turnovers in the game while Moravian had 13 miscues. The
Greyhounds had just two players in double figures led by junior forward
Kelly Applegate, who had a game high 30 points, her third game of the
season of at least 30 points. Applegate, who was two-for-two behind
the three-point line in the game, also grabbed a team high eight rebounds.
Senior forward Stephanie Seaman tossed in ten points before fouling
out of the contest, and she pulled down five rebounds to move past Mel
Newhard for third all-time in the Moravian record books with 748 career
rebounds. Sophomore guard Sara Steinman had three points, four assists
and two steals for the Greyhounds while junior forward Jenny Hackleman
had four points, five rebounds and two steals. Junior guard Rachel Berlin
tossed in three points while senior forward Lindsay Brase grabbed five
rebounds to go with two points for Moravian. Messiah had a balanced
scoring attack with Nicki Lobach leading the team with 18 points. Ashley
Brooks contributed 14 points and five rebounds off the bench for the
Falcons while Eli Cook added 12 points, nine rebounds, four assists
and five of Messiah's 13 blocked shots in the victory. Sarah Ringer
added 11 points, four rebounds and three steals for the Falcons while
Amy Reed contributed nine rebounds, four points, four blocked shots,
four steals and three assists.

The Greyhounds reached the 90-point plateau for the fourth time this
season and the first time in over a month in a 90-60 victory over Lebanon
Valley College in a Commonwealth Conference game at Johnston Hall. The
win was also Moravian's fifth straight in Commonwealth Conference action,
and it was the 350th for Moravian head coach Mary Beth Spirk. Moravian
raced out to a 6-0 lead and quickly built the lead into double digits
at 13-2 with 16:05 still remaining on the clock in the first half. The
Greyhounds would continue to pull away through out the half heading
into the intermission with a 52-26 lead. Moravian made 22 of 43 field
goal attempts (51.2 percent) in the first half with two three-pointers
and a perfect six-of-six at the foul line. The Greyhounds committed
just seven first half turnovers while forcing the Flying Dutchmen into
20 first half mistakes. Lebanon Valley did go to the break with a 24-20
advantage in rebounds, however, the Flying Dutchmen were just ten of
30 from the floor (33.3 percent) and six of nine from the foul line
at halftime. Moravian kept its large lead for the entire second half
while allowing all 16 players in uniform to play at least three minutes
and no one saw more that 21 minutes on the court. The Greyhounds were
15 of 31 from the field (48.4 percent) in the second half to finish
at 50 percent (37 of 74) for the game. Moravian also made three of four
three-pointers after the intermission while going five of nine (55.6
percent) at the foul line. The Greyhounds had ten turnovers in the second
half while Lebanon Valley made 13 more turnovers. The Flying Dutchmen
shot better in the second half, making 14 of 30 field goal attempts
(46.7 percent) to go with three three-pointers and three of five free
throws. Lebanon Valley also finished the game with a 40-38 advantage
on the boards. The Greyhounds had a balanced scoring attack with four
players in double figures led by 15 points from senior forward Stephanie
Seaman. Seaman, who also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals,
moved into ninth all-time at Moravian with 1, 161 points. Junior forward
Kelly Applegate added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, three
steals and a pair of blocked shots in the Greyhounds' victory. Junior
forward Jenny Hackleman and junior guard Katie Rizman each netted 11
points with Hackleman grabbing a team high eight rebounds to move into
ninth in the Moravian record books with 555 career rebounds. Hackleman
also added four assists and three steals while Rizman contributed five
assists and three boards in the win. Junior guard Rachel Berlin tossed
in eight points for the Greyhounds while senior forward Lindsay Brase
had seven points off the bench. Sophomore guard Sara Steinman and freshman
forward Rachelle Elneus each had five points with Steinman adding three
assists and three steals for the Greyhounds. Senior forward Heather
MacDonald came off the bench to contribute four points and four rebounds
while senior forward Nicole Savino added four points and three steals.
Sophomore guard LaToya Blake was held without a point, but she had four
assists, three steals and three rebounds in the victory while sophomore
guard Megan Kocon tossed in four points. Freshman forward Cody Fedorishen
added three rebounds and two points for the Greyhounds. For Lebanon
Valley, junior forward Monica Johnson had a double-double with game
highs of 20 points and 14 rebounds while freshman forward Megan Bish
contributed 19 points and ten boards. Sophomore guard Jenna Gambino
and sophomore guard/forward Brittany Sanders each scored six points
for the Flying Dutchmen.

At Susquehanna University - Won 66-54 Boxscore
Nationally-ranked Moravian overcame an early eight point deficit and
outlasted two power failures in the second half that delayed the game
60 minutes to defeat Susquehanna University, 66-54, in Commonwealth
Conference action. With the victory and a loss by Albright College to
nationally-ranked Messiah College, the Greyhounds clinched their fifth
consecutive trip to the postseason and Moravian's 18th overall playoff
berth. The Crusaders jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead in the first five
and a half minutes of the game; however, the Greyhounds ran off nine
straight points to take an 11-10 lead at the 13:05 mark. Susquehanna
took a 12-11 lead and the game was tied at 13-13 before Moravian took
the lead for good at the 9:02 mark on a jumper by Greyhound sophomore
guard Sara Steinman. Moravian would build the lead to seven points before
Susquehanna cut it back to three. However, a three-pointer by Steinman
just before the intermission send the Greyhounds into halftime with
a 28-20 lead. Moravian made nine of 26 first half field goals (34.6
percent) with one three-pointer. The Greyhounds made nine of 11 free
throws (81.8 percent) in the first 20 minutes and had a 21-18 edge in
rebounds despite committing 12 turnovers. Susquehanna struggled shooting
in the first half, making just six of 27 field goal attempts (22.2 percent)
with one three-pointer. The Crusaders were seven of nine at the foul
line (77.8 percent) while making 13 turnovers. When the second half
started, Moravian scored the first six points to push its lead to 14
points at 34-20. The Greyhounds would still be ahead by 14 points at
42-28 when the power went out with 11:07 remaining in the game. The
delay lasted about ten minutes before the lights were bright enough
to resume play. However, before anyone could score and just one minute
gone off the clock, the power went out again and delayed the game for
50 minutes. The power outage was due to a fire in Selinsgrove that knocked
out power to the entire borough. When action finally resumed, Susquehanna
slowly pulled closer, getting within five points at 54-49 with 2:34
to play. Moravian would shut the door at the foul line, making ten of
13 free throws in the final 1:10 to expand the lead back to double digits.
The Greyhounds were 19 of 24 from the foul line (79.2 percent) in the
second half while shooting 33.3 percent (nine of 27) from the floor
with one three-pointer. Moravian made just seven turnovers after the
intermission while Susquehanna had nine second half turnovers. Both
teams finished the game with 43 rebounds. Susquehanna's shooting improved
in the second half with the Crusaders making 13 of 38 field goal attempts
(34.2 percent), one three-pointer and seven of eight free throws (87.5
percent). Moravian had three players in double figures led by junior
forward Kelly Applegate, who had a game-high 24 points to go with seven
rebounds. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman added 16 points, five rebounds
and three assists while junior forward Jenny Hackleman contributed 12
points and a team high nine rebounds. Seaman's 16 points improved her
career total to 1,146 points, moving her into tenth all-time. Steinman
finished the game with nine points to go with three rebounds and three
assists. Senior forward Lindsay Brase contributed four rebounds and
three points while sophomore guard LaToya Blake had a team high four
steals, three rebounds and two points in the Greyhounds' win. Junior
guard Katie Rizman grabbed three boards off the bench and tied a career
high with three blocked shots for Moravian. For Susquehanna, Jen Clark
led the Crusaders with 20 points, and she had seven rebounds, three
assists and two steals. Nikki Smith had a double-double for Susquehanna

The Greyhounds tried to rally from a 17-point deficit with seven and
a half minutes to play, coming up short in a 66-59 loss to rival Muhlenberg
College in non-conference action in Johnston Hall. Moravian, ranked
19th in the nation in the D3hoops.com and USA Today/ESPN Division
III Coaches' Top 25 Polls, which also trailed by 17 points at halftime,
was down 59-42 after a Mule lay-up by junior Meghan Courtney. The Greyhounds
went on a 17-3 run to pull within 62-59 with 43 seconds to play on a
three-pointer by senior forward Stephanie Seaman, but Moravian wouldn't
score again. At the start of the game, the Mules jumped out to a quick
6-0 lead and led 12-2 with 15:15 remaining in the first half when Moravian
was forced to put junior forwards Kelly Applegate and Jenny Hackleman
on the bench with two quick fouls each. The Mules, who received votes
in both national polls this week, pulled ahead by 13 points with a 22-9
lead when Seaman went to the bench with two fouls of her own. Applegate
and Hackleman returned to the game and fueled an 8-2 Moravian run to
cut the lead back to 24-17 with seven minutes to go in the first half
but Applegate picked up her third foul of the half. The Mules would
pull away for a 43-26 edge at the intermission. In the first half, Moravian
struggled from the floor, making just seven of 29 field goal attempts
(24.1 percent) with two three-pointers. The Greyhounds were a perfect
ten-for-ten at the foul line but committed 12 turnovers and were out-rebounded
by Muhlenberg, 24-16. The Mules made 16 of 34 first half shots (47.1
percent) and a three-pointer. Muhlenberg was also a perfect ten-for-ten
at the charity stripe in the first half while committing ten turnovers.
Moravian scored the first five points of the second half to pull within
43-31 before fouls by Seaman, Hackleman and Applegate and a technical
foul on the Moravian bench helped the Mules pull out to their biggest
lead of the night of 20 points, 55-35, with 11:13 remaining in the game.
The Greyhounds shot better in the second half, making 11 of 30 field
goal attempts (36.7 percent) with two more three-pointers, and Moravian
was nine of 11 at the foul line (81.8 percent) while committing ten
second half turnovers. The Mules would struggle shooting the ball in
the second half, making just eight of 28 field goal attempts (28.6 percent)
with two three-pointers. Muhlenberg, which did have a 46-35 advantage
in rebounds in the game including 17-12 on the offensive boards, was
just five of nine (55.6 percent) from the foul line in the second 20
minutes and committed 15 turnovers. Moravian did end up with three players
in double figures with both Applegate and Seaman scoring 12 points despite
playing less than 20 minutes in the game due to foul trouble. Seaman
had five rebounds while Applegate grabbed four boards. Senior forward
Lindsay Brase came off the bench to contribute ten points, three rebounds
and a pair of blocked shots while Hackleman had eight points, a team
high nine rebounds and two blocked shots before fouling out. Junior
guards Rachel Berlin and Katie Rizman each tossed in five points for
the Greyhounds with Berlin adding three rebounds and three steals. Freshman
forward Rachelle Elneus contributed four points during Moravian's late
surge, and she added three rebounds while sophomore guard Sara Steinman
had three points. For Muhlenberg, Courtney recorded game highs of 24
points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots while freshman guard/forward
Lauren Boyle tossed in 15 points and grabbed five boards. Senior forward
Lacie Smith had nine points and ten rebounds in the Mule win while senior
guard Kristen Piscadlo had eight points, eight assists, five rebounds
and five steals. Sophomore guard Abra Like contributed six points off
the bench for the Mules while senior forward Stephanie Coluccini had
seven rebounds, five assists and four points for Muhlenberg. The victory
for Muhlenberg was its first since 2001 against Moravian and gives the

Moravian won its third straight game as the 19th-ranked Greyhounds
earned a 63-58 come-from-behind victory at Albright College in Commonwealth
Conference action. The win was Moravian's sixth of the season when trailing
at halftime. The Lions jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, and Albright
ran out to an 11-2 lead in the first five minutes of the game. The Greyhounds
would cut the lead back to five points at 14-9 with 10:22 remaining
in the first half. However, Albright went on an 11-2 run to build a
25-11 lead with 6:27 before the intermission. Moravian responded with
a 14-0 run to tie the contest at 25-25 with a minute to go in the first
half before the Lions scored the final four points of the half for a
29-25 halftime edge. The Greyhounds struggled shooting in the first
half, making just eight of 30 field goal attempts (26.7 percent) with
one three-pointer; however, Moravian was a perfect eight-for-eight at
the foul line. Albright had a 21-20 edge in rebounds at the intermission
while both teams had committed 12 turnovers. They Lions made 13 of 31
field goal attempts (41.9 percent) in the first 20 minutes to go with
one three-pointers and two of four free throws. When the second half
started, Moravian pulled within one point three times in the first 3:15
before Albright built an eight point lead. The Lions would lead 44-39
with 7:19 remaining in the game when the Greyhounds started to take
control of the contest at the foul line. Moravian, one of the top free
throw shooting teams in the country over the last few seasons, would
connect on 21 of 24 free throw attempts and one three-pointer, the team's
final field goal of the game, in the final seven minutes to turn a five-point
deficit into the five-point victory. In the second half, the Greyhounds
made just six of 16 field goal attempts (37.5 percent), but Moravian
was two-of-three behind the three-point line and 24 of 29 (84.8 percent)
at the foul line to finish the game 32 of 37 (86.5 percent) at the foul
line. Albright did finish with a 37-36 edge on the boards, and the Lions,
who had four players foul out of the game, committed 24 turnovers to
Moravian's 23 miscues. Albright was six of 24 (25 percent) from the
floor in the second half with three three-pointers, and the Lions made
14 of 18 free throw attempts (77.8 percent). Moravian had three players
in double figures lead by senior forward Stephanie Seaman, who had 19
points to go with 11 rebounds and five steals for her third double-double
in the last five games. Seaman's 19 points improved her career total
to 1,118, moving her into 11th all-time at Moravian. Junior forward

The Greyhounds earned a 67-55 victory over Juniata College in Commonwealth
Conference in Johnston Hall. The Eagles scored the first five points
of the game and led 12-6 before a 9-2 run game Moravian its first lead
of the game at 15-14 with 12:46 left in the first half. Juniata tied
the game at 16-16 before the Greyhounds took control for good with an
18-4 run, building a 34-20 lead with 4:04 remaining in the first half.
Moravian headed to the locker room with a 36-23 lead after shooting
15 of 21 (71.4 percent) from the floor including three three-pointers.
The Greyhounds were just three of seven (42.9 percent) from the foul
line in the first half and committed 13 turnovers while holding a 13-11
advantage on the boards. Juniata connected on just nine of 23 field
goal attempts (39.1 percent) in the first half and committed 15 turnovers.
Moravian had a double digit lead for all but 24 seconds of the second
half en route to the victory. The Greyhounds were just seven of 27 from

scoring attack with three players in double figures. Junior forward
Jenny Hackleman tossed in a game high 17 points, her first double figure
contest in seven games. Hackleman added four rebounds, four assists
and three steals. Junior forward Kelly Applegate scored 15 points and
contributed seven rebounds and four steals while senior forward Stephanie
Seaman had 12 points and a game high nine rebounds to go with three
assists. Seaman now has 718 rebounds in her career, moving into fourth
all-time at Moravian. Junior guard Rachel Berlin tossed in eight points

Moravian snapped its first two-game losing streak in more than two
years with a 67-63 upset of nationally-ranked Messiah College in Johnston
Hall. The Greyhounds, who received votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll
and were ranked 24th in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches'
Poll this week, defeated the Falcons, who were 10th in the D3hoops.com
poll and 14th in the Coaches' Poll, for just the second time in the
last 16 meetings with both wins coming in Bethlehem during the last
two regular season meetings. Moravian scored the first basket of the
game and the teams went back-and-forth for the first six minutes of
the game, playing to a 10-10 tie. The Greyhounds then went on an 11-0
run over the next seven minutes to build a 21-10 lead; however, Messiah
responded with a 13-4 run to end the half. The Greyhounds were scoreless
for the final 4:44 of the first half but still lead 25-23 at the break.
Moravian connected on nine of 23 field goal attempts (39.1 percent)
and seven of ten free throws in the first 20 minutes of the contest
while the Falcons were just nine of 35 (25.7 percent) and four of five
at the foul line. Moravian had a 22-20 edge in rebounds at the intermission;
however, the Greyhounds had also committed 13 turnovers to Messiah's
nine miscues. The first ten minutes of the second half remained close
with neither team being able to build more than a three-point lead with
Messiah's final three-point edge, 43-40, coming with exactly ten minutes
left in the game. The Greyhounds scored the next six points to take
a lead they would never relinquish. Moravian actually pushed the lead
to double digits, 61-51, with 2:15 to play. Messiah wouldn't go away
and pulled within a point at 64-63 with 20.7 seconds remaining on a
three-pointer by senior forward Eli Cook. The Greyhounds put the game
away with three free throws in the final 17 seconds. Both teams were

Moravian had one three-pointer and connected on 17 of 22 second half
free throws. Messiah finished the game with a 39-37 edge in rebounds,

The Greyhounds received more than two-thirds of their points from just
two players as junior forward Kelly Applegate scored a game high 28
points while senior forward Stephanie Seaman tossed in 18 points. Seaman
also had a career high 15 rebounds in the victory while Applegate had
seven boards, all in the first half. The 15 rebounds give Seaman a career
total of 709 as she becomes the fifth player in Moravian history to
grab over 700 career rebounds. Seaman needs just three more boards to
move into fourth all-time. Junior guard Rachel Berlin had nine points
off the bench for the Greyhounds to go with three rebounds while junior
forward Jenny Hackleman added six points, five rebounds and a team high

The Greyhounds suffered their second straight loss for the first time
in more than two years as nationally ranked Moravian fell at Elizabethtown
College, 69-49, in Commonwealth Conference action. The last time Moravian
lost two consecutive games was on January 10th and 14th, 2004. The 49
points also marked the lowest point total for the Greyhounds this season.
The Blue Jays jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first 4:40 of the game
and were in control the rest of the way. Late in the first half, the
Greyhounds pulled within seven points at 21-14 before a final Elizabethtown
spurt put the Blue Jays up 42-20 at the intermission. Moravian struggled
shooting the ball in the first half, making just eight of 29 field goal
attempts (27.6 percent) and four of seven free throws (57.1 percent),
while Elizabethtown made 18 of 33 field half shots (54.5 percent) and
four of six free throws. In the second half, Moravian would get no closer
than 19 points as the Greyhounds shooting woes continued. Moravian was
just eight of 34 (23.5 percent) from the floor in the second half and

Commonwealth Conference game of the season, falling to Widener University,
80-76, in an overtime game in Chester. The overtime game was the nationally-ranked
Greyhounds' second straight, and the team's second consecutive loss
at the Schwartz Center. Widener is the first team to score 80 points
on the Greyhounds this season and just the second to score over 70 points
versus Moravian. The Greyhounds had an early 4-2 lead before an 11-0
run by the Pioneers gave Widener a 13-4 edge with 13:07 remaining in
the first half. The Greyhounds tied the game at 20-20 with seven minutes
before the intermission only to see the Pioneers pull ahead by seven
points. Widener had a slim 35-34 halftime lead as both squads made 12
field goals and two three-pointers in the first half. The Pioneers were
nine of 11 at the foul line while Moravian was eight of ten at the charity
stripe before the intermission. Widener held a 22-14 advantage on the
boards in the first half while Moravian committed 13 turnovers in the
first half to Widener's 14 miscues. In the second half, Widener held
the lead until the Greyhounds tied the contest at 52-52 with 8:12 left
in regulation. The game would go back-and-forth from there with Moravian
holding a 67-65 lead with just 17 seconds to play, however, Widener

had an early 5-4 lead before nationally-ranked Moravian went ahead at
6-5. Susquehanna responded with a 7-0 run to take a 12-6 lead, the Crusaders
largest of the game. The Greyhounds came right back with a 13-0 run
to take their largest lead of the contest at 19-12 with just over eight
minutes remaining in the first half. Susquehanna finished the half with
a 13-5 run for a 25-24 halftime edge. Both teams struggled shooting
in the first half with Moravian making nine of 28 field goal attempts
(32.1 percent) and four of six free throws while Susquehanna was just
nine of 33 (27.3 percent) in the first half and three of five at the
foul line. The Greyhounds built a quick lead in the second half, up
32-27, but Susquehanna responded to tie the game at 36-36. Moravian

The Greyhounds won their third game of 2006 and the championship of
the 5th Annual STARTERS Moravian Winter Classic with a 70-41 victory
over Franklin & Marshall College. The title was Moravian's third
in the five years of the tournament. Delaware Valley College defeated
Albany College of Pharmacy, 76-66, in the consolation game. The game
was close for most of the first half with the Greyhounds holding just
a 15-14 lead with 6:20 before the intermission. Moravian would finish
the half on a 17-6 run for a 32-20 halftime lead. In the second half,
Moravian would push the lead to as many as 33 points. The Greyhounds
struggled from the floor, making just 24 of 68 field goal attempts (35.3
percent) and two of 11 three-pointers. Moravian was hot again at the
foul line for the second straight game, connecting on 20 of 26 free
throw attempts (76.9 percent). The Greyhounds did have a 54-37 advantage
on the boards while Moravian committed 22 turnovers to the Diplomats'
30 miscues. Franklin & Marshall also struggled shooting the ball,
making just 16 of 55 field goal attempts (29.1 percent), one of ten

Moravian moved into the championship game of the 5th Annual STARTERS
Moravian Winter Classic with a 93-44 victory over Albany College of
Pharmacy in the first round. Franklin & Marshall College defeated
Delaware Valley College, 53-44, in the other first round match up. During
the victory for the Greyhounds, senior forward Stephanie Seaman became
the 16th player in Moravian history to surpass 1,000 career points on
an 18-foot jumper from the top of the key with just under five minutes
left in the game. The bucket gave Seaman a game high 20 points and a
career total of 1,001. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 45-20 halftime
lead and led the entire game. Moravian shot 30 of 66 from the floor
(45.5 percent) with two three-pointers, and the Greyhounds connected
on 31 of 38 free throw attempts (81.6 percent) while committing just
11 turnovers in the game. Moravian also had a 51-34 advantage on the
boards while recording 22 assists and 20 steals in the victory. Albany
struggled shooting the entire game, making just 15 of 54 field goal
attempts (27.8 percent) and 12 of 21 free throws (57.1 percent). The
Panthers also committed 25 turnovers in the contest. Seaman had eight
rebounds, five steals and three assists in addition to her game high
20 points. Junior forward Kelly Applegate added 16 points and five rebounds
in the Moravian victory while junior forward Jenny Hackleman had 15

The Greyhounds began the 2006 portion of their schedule with an 88-62
victory over Wilkes University in a non-conference game at Johnston
Hall. The game was close early with nationally-ranked Moravian holding
a 25-20 lead with 10:20 to play in the first half. However, Moravian
finished the first 20 minutes of the contest on a 24-12 run to take
a 49-32 lead at the intermission. The Greyhounds had a hot hand in the
first half, connecting on 18 of 30 field goal attempts (60 percent)
with three three-pointers and a perfect ten-of-ten at the foul line.
Moravian also made just six turnovers in the first half. Both teams
struggled shooting the ball after halftime with Moravian making just
15 of 39 field goal attempts (38.5 percent), and Wilkes connecting on

first half, grabbing a team high eight rebounds to go with two assists.

Moravian bounced back from its first loss of the season to head into
its three-week winter break on a 52-48 non-conference win at Ursinus
College. The point total was the lowest of the season for the Greyhounds
for the second consecutive contest. The Bears jumped out to a 7-0 lead
before Moravian got on the scoreboard with 18:01 remaining in the first
half. The Greyhounds would eventually fight back to tie the game at
16-16 with 11:43 remaining before the intermission. Moravian did take
an 18-17 lead with 7:31 left in the half but Ursinus went on a 7-3 run
to end the half with a 24-21 lead. The Greyhounds struggled from the
field in the first half, shooting just eight of 30 (26.7 percent) and
committing 12 turnovers. Moravian quickly took a 25-24 lead in the first
36 seconds of the second half, and the Greyhounds would lead the rest
of the way including the game's biggest lead of 15 points, 52-37, with
3:37 left. Moravian would shoot better in the second half, making 13
of 27 field goal attempts (48.1 percent) after the break. The Greyhounds
had a 41-36 edge on the boards, and Moravian forced Ursinus into 25
turnovers for the game while committing 24 of its own. Junior forward
Kelly Applegate led the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounding again with

The University of Scranton women’s basketball team, ranked tenth
in the nation in this week’s D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll, made four
free throws in the final 15 seconds to hold off 12th-ranked Moravian
College, 67-62, in non-conference action in Johnston Hall. The Greyhounds
suffered their first loss of the 2005-06 campaign and the first regular
season loss in Johnston Hall since February 4, 2004, a span of 15 straight
regular season wins. Scranton would score the first two points of the
game before Moravian ran off 15 straight points, taking a 15-2 lead
with 14:43 remaining in the first half. However, the Greyhounds, who
came into the contest shooting nearly 47 percent from the floor, went
cold for the rest of the half. The Royals put together an 18-4 run to
take a 20-19 lead with 6:37 before the intermission, and Scranton continued
to run out to a 35-25 halftime lead. The Royals forced the Greyhounds
into 12 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and limited Moravian to an
eight of 28 performance from the floor (28.6 percent). The Greyhounds
also made just seven of 12 free throws (58.3 percent) in the first half.
Scranton was 12 of 31 (38.7 percent from the floor in the first half)
while shooting eight of eight at the foul line. Moravian did have a
22-19 advantage on the boards and forced the Royals into nine turnovers.
Scranton scored the first basket of the second half to take its largest
lead of the game of 12 points at 37-25. Moravian would begin to crawl
back into the game, closing within four points, 45-41, at 11:57 remaining
in the game. The Royals would get the lead back to eight points at 49-41,
but the Greyhounds wouldn’t go away, finally tying the contest
at 55-55 with 5:12 to play on a pair of free throws by junior forward
Kelly Applegate. The score would be tied at 56-56 with 4:34 remaining
and every time Scranton would get a two or three-point lead, Moravian
would bring it back to one point, the last time being at 63-62 with
17 seconds left. A pair of free throws from Scranton junior Taryn Mellody
gave the Royals a 65-62 lead with just 15 ticks left. The Greyhounds
senior forward Stephanie Seaman got an open look at the three-pointer
with just four seconds late but the shot was short and Scranton junior
guard Allison Matt connected on two more free throws with just one second
left to seal the victory. For Moravian, Applegate had her third straight
double-double with a game-high 22 points and a career best 17 rebounds.
Applegate, who came into the game shooting 72.9 percent from the floor,
was just seven of 14 from the field and eight of 11 at the foul line
in the game while dishing out three assists. Junior forward Jenny Hackleman
added 19 points and eight rebounds for the Greyhounds, who had a 40-39
edge in rebounding. Moravian shooting struggles continued in the second
half, making just 17 of 58 field goal attempts in the game (29.3 percent,
nearly 20 percent below the team’s season average). The Greyhounds
were also 26 of 36 (72.2 percent) from the foul line during the game
and committed just seven turnovers in the second half for a game total
of 19. Seaman added 11 points and seven rebounds for the Greyhounds
while junior guard Katie Rizman tossed in seven points to go with four

with a 66-53 victory at Drew University in non-conference action. Moravian
jumped out to a quick lead and led 14-5 with 16:17 remaining in the
first half. The Rangers would score the next eight points; however,
Moravian quickly built the lead back to six points at 19-13 with 13
minutes left in the half. Drew would take a one-point lead with 6:24
left before the intermission and the lead would be 28-26 with 2:58 remaining.
Moravian would finish the half with a 10-2 run for a 26-30 halftime
lead. After the intermission, Drew would cut the lead to one point at
38-37 with 16:14 remaining in the game before Moravian slowly built
a double-digit lead for the final nine minutes of the game. Moravian
made just 32.4 percent of its field goal attempts (24 of 74) with five
three pointers. The Greyhounds were 13 of 14 at the foul line (92.9
percent) while committing just 18 turnovers and holding a 48-38 advantage

The Greyhounds remained undefeated on the year with a 65-64 victory
at Juniata College in Commonwealth Conference action. Moravian had a
three-point lead at 12-9 with 14:23 remaining in the first half, but
the Eagles would go on a 17-7 run to take a 26-19 lead with 7:10 left
before the intermission. The Greyhounds pulled within a point at 28-27
with 5:15 left in the half; however, Moravian failed to score during
the rest of the half while Juniata built a six-point halftime lead,
33-27. Moravian shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half, making
11 of 20 field goal attempts, but the Greyhounds turned the ball over
19 times in the game's first 20 minutes. When the second half started,
it took Moravian nearly five minutes to tie the game at 41-41 with 15:18
left on the clock. The Greyhounds would eventually take the lead at
49-47 with 9:46 remaining in the game but Juniata would rally and retake
the lead. The schools would trade the lead the rest of the game with
the Eagles up 64-63 with just 18 seconds to play. Moravian sophomore
guard Sara Steinman was fouled with 2.6 seconds remaining in the contest
and drained both free throws to give the Greyhounds a 65-64 lead. Juniata
was unable to get a final shot off. Moravian shot well in the second
half, making 16 of 30 field goal attempts (53.3 percent), bit the Greyhounds,
who were five-of-six at the foul line in the first half (83.3 percent),
made just five of 12 free throws in the second half (41.7 percent).
Moravian would commit just ten turnovers in the second half and finish

begin the 2005-06 season with a 94-53 victory at Lincoln (PA) University
in non-conference action. The Greyhounds had an early 5-2 lead before
a 20-0 run over a 9:13 span put Moravian in control for good. The Greyhounds
led 49-18 at halftime after shooting 51.6 percent from the floor (16
of 31), 33.3 percent behind the three-point line (three of nine) and
77.9 percent at the free throw line (14 of 18). Moravian finished the
game with just 15 turnovers while forcing the Lions into 26 turnovers
and the Greyhounds had a 45-44 edge on the boards. Moravian attempted
42 free throws in the game, making 30 (71.4 percent) while Lincoln was
just five of 14 (35.7 percent) from the charity stripe in the contest.
For the second straight game, all 14 Greyhounds in uniform played at

Moravian rallied from a 14-point deficit to snap an eight-game losing
streak to local rival DeSales University with an 83-77 road victory.
The Greyhounds scored the first basket of the game; however, the Bulldogs
quickly built a 10-point lead with 13:37 remaining in the first half.
Moravian would pull back within three points at 25-22 with 7:56 left
before the intermission, but DeSales would get the lead back into double
digits with a 24-13 run to end the half. The Bulldogs made 57.1 percent
(20 of 35) of their field goals in the first half including a five-of-ten
performance behind the three-point line. Moravian made just 11 of 32
first half field goals (34.4 percent) with three three-pointers. The
Greyhounds were ten of 12 (83.3 percent) from the foul line in the first
20 minutes of the game, but committed 12 turnovers. After the break,
Moravian slowly cut into DeSales' lead. The Greyhounds would close within
five points at 52-47 with 14:05 remaining before the Bulldogs pushed
the lead back to nine. After a 30-second timeout trailing 60-51 with
10:39 to play, Moravian went on a 14-4 run to take a 65-54 lead with
5:53 remaining in the contest. The Bulldogs tied the game at 71-71 with

The Greyhounds rallied from a four-point halftime deficit for a 69-67
victory over host Dickinson College in the Championship game of the
Dickinson/Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament. The Red Devils jumped out to
a 7-2 lead, but Moravian responded with an 11-2 run to take a 13-9 lead.
The Greyhounds would have a 17-11 lead before a 15-3 run by the Red
Devils put Dickinson ahead 26-20. The Red Devils would hold a 37-33
halftime lead. In the second half, the teams traded the lead with the
score eventually being tied at 55-55 with 6:21 to play and again at
62-62 with 3:32 remaining in the contest. Moravian ran off seven straight
points to take a 69-62 lead with 1:58 to play; however, the Greyhounds
attempted just one shot, a missed free throw, in the final 1:58 of the
game. Dickinson had a chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but

in time. Moravian made 26 of 51 field goal attempts (51.0 percent) for
the game, including 14 of 26 shots (53.8 percent) in the second half.
The Greyhounds were also 14 of 20 from the foul line (70 percent) in
the victory with three three-pointers and just 17 turnovers. Dickinson
had a 34-31 advantage on the boards in the contest. Junior forward Jenny
Hackleman was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after leading
Moravian with 15 points, four assists and three rebounds. Junior forward
Kelly Applegate and sophomore guard Sara Steinman each netted ten points.
Steinman, who added two rebounds, was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior guard Katie Rizman contributed nine points, a team high five
rebounds and three assists while senior forward Lindsay Brase had seven
points and five boards. Senior forward Stephanie Seaman scored seven
points to go with four rebounds, becoming just the sixth player in school
history to grab 600 career rebounds, while senior guard Nicole Savino
chipped in five points, three assists and two rebounds in the victory.
Junior guard Rachel Berlin added four points and three rebounds while
sophomore guard LaToya Blake added three steals, two points and two
rebounds for Moravian.

Inn Tip-Off Tournament - Won 92-53 Boxscore
Moravian opened the 2005-06 season with a 92-53 victory over Goucher
College in the first round of the Days Inn Tip-Off Tournament at Dickinson
College. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 42-26 halftime lead. Moravian
was 37 of 67 (55.2 percent) from the floor in the victory, including
20 of 31 (64.5 percent) in the second half. The Greyhounds, who had
a 47-21 advantage on the boards, also made 11 of 18 free throws (61.1
percent) and seven three-pointers in the win. Junior forward Kelly Applegate
led three Moravian players in double figures with 16 points. Applegate,
who was eight-for-eight from the floor in just 13 minutes of action,
also grabbed six rebounds. Junior forward Jenny Hackleman and junior
guard Katie Rizman each had 14 points for the Greyhounds with Hackleman
adding four rebounds and four assists and Rizman contributing four assists
and two steals. Sophomore guard Sara Steinman and senior forward Heather
MacDonald each scored eight points with Steinman adding three assists
and MacDonald grabbing three rebounds and dishing out three assists.
Senior forward Stephanie Seaman pulled down a team high eight rebounds
for Moravian to go with seven points and two steals while junior guard
Rachel Berlin added six rebounds, which tied her career high, and two
points. Senior guard Dianna DiFiore had six points while senior forward
Lindsay Brase had five points, two rebounds and two assists. Freshman
forward Rachelle Elneus contributed four points and three rebounds in
her first collegiate game while junior guard Kristina Adams scored three
points in the first game of her career. Senior guard Nicole Savino added
two points, two rebounds and two assists for the Greyhounds while sophomore
guard LaToya Blake added two rebounds and two assists.
