The Lady Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Mary Beth Spirk for the 12th season, finished their season with a disappointing mark of 14-10. Despite their 19th consecutive winning record in history, the Lady Hounds narrowly missed reaching Middle Atlantic Conference playoffs for the first time in 17 years. Moravian, with 12 returning members began their season 9-3, but lost five straight games during an inconsistent stretch.
During semester break, the Lady Greyhounds had the opportunity to travel to Las Vegas and participate in the Next Level Desert Classic. While traveling, they lost to nationally ranked Trinity University of San Antonio, Texas, by one point at the buzzer and then went on to beat Eastern Connecticut State, a school which the Lady Greyhounds had played twice in the NCAA Division III National Tournament in the early 1990s.
Leading the Greyhounds was senior Jessie Coughlin (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic HS). The 5-6 guard became the 12th player in Lady Greyhound history to surpass the 1,000 point mark on January 23rd against Elizabethtown. Coughlin led the team in scoring with 12.6 ppg and finished the season with 78 assists and 69 steals for the year. Coughlin was named to the MAC Commonwealth League All-Star second team.
Also leading the Greyhounds was classmate Lynne Grzywacz (Blue Bell/Wissahickon HS). The small forward lead the team in rebounding with 6.7 per game and was second in scoring with 12.0 ppg . Grzywacz completed the season 10th in the MAC in field goal percentage at 48.1.
Senior Stephanie Rickards (Lansdowne/Upper Darby HS) completed her collegiate career with a scoring average of 7.5 points this winter. She was also the Hounds second leading rebounder with 6.1 boards per contest. Rickards, who has maintained a 4.0 grade point average and is a two-sport athlete, was named to the GTE Academic All-American Volleyball College Division First Team. She also received the outstanding honor of GTE Academic All-American Player of the Year for Volleyball.
Junior LaJona Johnson (Easton/Easton HS) netted 8.3 points per contest and added 4.0 rebounds per game. She had a season high 18 against both Marymount College and Elizabethtown College.
Senior point guard Gina Sebastionelli (Bethlehem/Bethlehem Catholic HS) contributed 5.5 points a game while dishing out a team high of 97 assists this winter. She also led the Lady Greyhounds in free-throw percentage with 82 percent.
Senior classmates Cathy Huegler (Reading/Muhlenberg HS), Leahn Agnew (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley HS) and Jen Page (New Cumberland/Red Land HS) rotated in the starting line-up at the center and forward positions. Huegler contributed 3.3 ppg and 3.3 rpg. Agnew, who missed the first eight games while recovering from an ACL knee injury, finished the season with 70 points and 46 rebounds. Page averaged 4.6 ppg and pulled down 4.8 rpg. Page had career high of 14 points and 12 rebounds against Albright.
Senior Susan DeJong (Allentown/Salisbury HS), junior Jen Polaha (West Lawn/Holy Name HS) and sophomore Jill Kenny (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick HS) each saw significant playing time. They finished their seasons with a combined 109 points.
Off the court, Coughlin was named to the MAC Executive Directors All-Academic Team and Rickards was honored on the MAC Academic Honor Roll.
