2007 Review

The 2007 Moravian College women’s cross country team, under the direction of second-year coach Welles Lobb, won the Misericordia University Cougar Classic, finishing first of nine schools. The Greyhounds were also second of eight schools at the inaugural Landmark Conference Championship and 14th at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional.

Leading the Greyhound was junior Kayla Teeling (Milford, NJ/Phillipsburg HS), who recorded her best time of the year at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional with a time of 23:05 in the 6, 000-meter run where she placed 42nd out of 267 runners. Teeling also ran a 19:39 in the 5000m run at the Misericordia University Cougar Classic where she placed second overall, and she was the runner-up at the Landmark Conference meet to earn First Team All-Conference honors.

Freshman Tara Chiarella (Hallstead, PA/Montrose Area) ran her best time of 23:10 at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional where she placed 46th. Chiarella, pictured at right, was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and earned All-Conference First Team accolades with a fourth place finish at the conference meet. Senior Katie Pulizzano (Allentown, PA/William Allen HS) also ran her best time of the year at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional where she ran a 24:37, and she was 15th in the Landmark Conference Championships.

Also running at the 2007 NCAA Mideast Regional were juniors Stephanie Miller (Easton, PA/Easton HS) and Kelly Williams (Tafton, PA/Wallenpaupack HS), who ran a 24:48 and a 25:51 respectively, and freshmen Kaleen Holden (Scranton, PA/Bishop Hannan) and Sarah Zigenfuss (Bangor, PA/Bangor), who ran a 24:45 and a 26:20 in the 6, 000-meter run. Freshman Michelle Onori (Red Bank, NJ/Middletown) had her best time of the year at the DeSales University Invitational where she ran a 30:48.58.

Teeling, Pulizzano, Miller and Williams were all named to the 2007 Fall Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll while Teeling was named to the 2007 Landmark Conference Fall All-Academic Team. .
