2006 Review

The Moravian College women’s lacrosse team completed its fourth season as part of the NCAA and posted an overall record of 2-14 and competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Second year head coach Kate Miller coached a team that consisted of five seniors, three juniors, five sophomores, and three freshmen.

Junior midfielder Lindsey Lustrino (Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan HS) led Moravian in scoring with 52 goals and four assists for 56 points, and she had 28 caused turnovers, 53 ground balls and 26 draw controls this season. Senior midfielder Jessica Cordani (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) found the back of the cage 21 times and added five assists for 26 points with 30 ground balls, 31 draw controls and 22 caused turnovers. Lustrino and Cordani both scored the 100th goal of their careers during the season.

Sophomore attack Jessica Bodine (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) had five goals and two assists to go with ten draw controls, five caused turnovers and 27 ground balls. Senior midfielder Kindal Estes (New Providence, NJ/New Providence HS) scored four goals and an assist, and she contributed 49 ground balls, 22 caused turnovers and 21 draw controls while sophomore attack Casey Simpson (Laporte, PA/Sullivan County HS) netted eight goals with ten draw controls, five caused turnovers and 12 ground balls.

Sophomore midfielder Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) scored four goals and added 36 ground balls, nine draw controls and 14 caused turnovers while freshman midfielder Georgia Castellano (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West HS) had five goals, 14 ground balls and six draw controls. Freshman defender Rachel Feinstein (North Salem, NY/Worcester School {MS}) netted three goals this season with seven ground balls.

Senior defender Lauren Johnston (Huntingdon Valley, PA/Upper Moreland HS) had 45 ground balls, 11 caused turnovers and five draw controls for Moravian while senior defender Kristen Schol (West Chester, PA/Henderson HS) added 28 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Sophomore defender Mauri Dallago (Kutztown, PA/Kutztown HS) had 27 ground balls, six draw controls and 11 caused turnovers for the Greyhounds while junior defender Jenna Abramson (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS) added 28 ground balls, 12 draw controls and six caused turnovers.

Junior defender Nicole Dodd (Hackettstown, NJ/West Morris Central HS) had five ground balls in five matches and sophomore midfielder Erica Spatz (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken HS) won a pair of draw controls in the season opener before injuries sidelined the pair for the remainder of the season.

Sophomore goalie Laura Schantz (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) made 133 saves in her first season in the cage for Moravian, and she also picked up 32 ground balls. Schantz had a 14.67 goals-against average in 945 minutes of action. Dallago played 4:30 in goal with a 13.33 goals-against average.

Abramson, Bodine, Johnston, Schantz and Spatz earned spots on the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Coach Miller expects to return most of her team next season and continues to look for improving.
