2007 Review

The Moravian College women’s lacrosse team completed its fifth season as part of the NCAA and posted an overall record of 2-13 and competed in the Middle Atlantic Conference. Third-year head coach Kate Miller coached a team that consisted of three seniors, four juniors, two sophomores, and nine freshmen.

Leading the Greyhounds was senior midfielder Lindsey Lustrino (Spring Lake, NJ/Manasquan HS) who had 51 goals and nine assists for a total of 60 points on the year. Lustrino also had 41 ground balls, 32 draw controls, and 100 shots as well, and she set the school career records with 164 goals, 20 assists and 184 points in her career. Junior midfielder Erica Spatz (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken HS) contributed 21 goals and three assists for 24 points to go along with 59 shots, 39 ground balls and 36 draw controls.

Freshmen midfielder Paige Warbrick (Souderton, PA/Souderton Area HS) put up 38 shots, 12 ground balls, 14 goals and four assists for a total of 18 points, while junior midfielder Casey Simpson (Laporte, PA/Sullivan County HS) had 32 shots, eight ground balls, 13 goals and one assist for 14 points this season. Freshmen attack Kayla Carson (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing HS) had 11 goals, and three assists to go along with 36 shots, 17 ground balls and seven draw controls, while freshmen attack Jillian Pagliei (Ivyland, PA/Council Rock North HS) had 11 goals, two assists, 28 shots, five ground balls, and six draw controls.

Sophomore attack Georgia Castellano (Cherry Hills, NJ/Cherry Hill West HS) contributed eight goals, five assists, 20 shots, 16 ground balls and six draw controls while, freshmen midfielder Lynda Kauffman (Boothwyn, PA/Chichester HS) had 10 goals, two assists, 34 shots, 23 ground balls, and 26 draw controls. Junior midfielder Robyn Klem (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) netted four goals, and two assists to go along with nine shots, 39 ground balls and 20 draw controls.

Freshman midfielder Kelly Daly (Howell, NJ/Monsignor Donovan HS) had three goals, 15 shots, 26 ground balls, and four draw controls, while freshman midfielder Brittany Deiling (Chews Landing, NJ/Triton Regional HS) had one goal, two assists, four shots, 22 ground balls, and three draw controls. Freshman defender/goalkeeper Katie Wise (Ardsley, PA/Abington HS) put up one goal, one assists, four shots, 21 ground balls, and one draw control while junior attack Jessica Bodine (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) had one goal, five shots, ten ground balls and two draw controls. Wise also served as goalie this year contributing 155 saves and 230 goals against in 861 minutes of action.

Also contributing this season was freshmen attack Steph Dellaquilla (Woodbury, NJ/West Deptford HS), senior defender Nicole Dodd (Hackettstown, NJ/West Morris Central HS), and senior defender Jenna Abramson (Bangor, PA/Bangor HS), with Dellaquilla having one shot and six ground balls, Dodd having one shot and 17 ground balls, and Abramson getting 17 ground balls and eight draw controls.

Lustrino, Spatz, Bodine, and Abramson were named to the 2007 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Coach Miller expects to return most of her team next season and continues to look for improvement as the squad begins competition in the Landmark Conference.
