At Susquehanna University - Lost 13-10      Boxscore

Moravian closed out its 2008 season with a 13-10 loss at Susquehanna University in Landmark Conference action. The Crusaders scored two quick goals adn led 11-4 at halftime. Susquehanna had a 50-31 advantage in shots and a 33-27 edge in ground balls while Moravian had a 16-9 advantage in draw controls.

Senior midfielder Erica Spatz led the Greyhounds with four goals, four ground balls and four draw controls while sophomore midifielder Lynda Kauffman had three goals and four draw controls. Sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick added two goals and two assists while junior attack Georgia Castellano added a goal. Freshman midfielder Sarah Carman had a team high five ground balls for Moravian while sophomore defender Katie Wise added four ground balls and four draw controls. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had 21 saves and five ground balls in the match.

Erin McGarrigle had four goals and an assist to lead Susquehanna while Heather Linton added three goals. Jess Weiss made 12 saves for the Crusaders.

Vs. Alvernia College - Won 25-10      Boxscore

The Greyhounds won their final home match of the season and assured the program its first-ever winning season with a 25-10 non-conference victory over Alvernia College on the HUB Quad. Moravian is now 9-6 on the year with one contest remaining. In the first five years of the program, the Greyhounds had never won more than three matches, and the 25 goals against Alvernia mark a single match record. Moravian also had a record 12 different players score a goal in the match.

Moravian jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead on goals by senior attack Jessica Bodine and sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman. However, the Crusaders answered right back to tie the contest at 2-2. The Greyhounds would net the next six goals to build an 8-2 lead before Alvernia scored three straight to cut the Moravian advantage to 8-5. The Greyhounds netted the next four goals to lead 12-5 at halftime. The Crusaders put the first goal in of the second half but would not get any closer. Moravian had a 59-27 advantage in shots, a 37-22 edge in ground balls and a 21-15 edge in draw controls.

Senior midfielder Erica Spatz led the Greyhounds with five goals and two assists for 17 points. Her fifth and final goal was the 100th of her career, the third player in school history to reach 100 career goals. She also tied the school mark with 20 career assists. Bodine and sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei each had three goals and an assist for Moravian while Kauffman netted three goals to reach the 50-goal plateau for her career. Sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick had two goals and an assist while senior midfielder Casey Simpson and junior attack Georgia Castellano each had two goals.

Sophomore defender Brittany Deiling and freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers each had a goal and an assist for the Greyhounds while senior defender Robyn Klem, freshman midfielder Sarah Carman and sophomore defender Katie Wise each found the back of the net once for Moravian. Spatz led Moravian with five ground balls and four draw controls while Wise had four ground balls and five draw controls. Carman contributed four draw controls and three ground balls while Deiling had three draw controls. Klem and Simpson each had four ground balls in their final home match while senior defender Marissa Moore added three ground balls. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg made ten saves for the Greyhounds.

Felicia Sippel and McKenna Shafer each scored four goals for Alvernia while Katie O'Brien had two goals while Brittany Veith added an assist for the Crusaders. O'Brien had seven ground balls while Sippel had six draw controls and four ground balls. Veith added five draw controls. Amanda Odenwalt started in goal for Alvernia and had two saves while Janelle Fulmer made 14 saves in 47 minutes of action.

At Goucher College - Lost 23-12      Boxscore

Moravian had its two-match winning streak snapped and dropped its fourth straight Landmark Conference contest with a 23-12 loss at Goucher College. The Gophers scored first and used a 7-1 run late in the first half to build a 13-4 halftime lead. Goucher then scored ten of the 18 second half goals with Moravian netting four of the last six tallies in the contest. The Gophers had a 36-23 advantage in shots, a 25-14 edge in ground balls and a 20-17 edge in draw controls in the match.

Greyhound senior midfielder Erica Spatz led Moravian with six goals to give ber a school record 53 for the season, and the six points gave Spatz sole possession of the school single single point record with 66. She also ahd a school record ten draw controls in the contest. Sophomore midfielders Lynda Kauffman and Paige Warbrick each had a goal and an assist while senior midfielder Casey Simpson added a goal and an assist. Sophomore defender Katie Wise and freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers each found the back of the net once for Moravian while junior attack Georgia Castellano had an assist. Freshman midfielder Sarah Carman had a team high three ground balls for the Greyhounds while sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg added six saves and three ground balls.

Kate Knitter led the Gophers with seven goals and three assists while Emily Blatter added six goals and three asssits. Sandy Okun had three goals and an assist while Marlo Tersigni had three goals. Colleen Cole added two goals and an assist for Goucher while Cindy Villareal and Ally Amick each had goals. Tersigni had seevn draw controls to lead the Gophers while Knitter have five ground balls. Brittany Foster made eight saves in goal for Goucher.

Vs. Gwynedd-Mercy College - Won 21-17      Boxscore

The Greyhounds won their second straight match with a 21-17 non-conference victory versus Gwynedd-Mercy College on the HUB Quad. The Greyhounds are now 8-5 on the season as the team continues its best season in the six-year history of the program. Moravian can finish no worse than .500 for the first time in school history, and the Greyhounds have netted a school record 173 goals this season. Moravian had never reached 20 goals in a match before 2008, hitting the mark for the third time this season with 21 goals versus Gwynedd-Mercy. The 38 combined goals in the match are also a record for the Greyhounds.

Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 54 second into the match on an unassisted goal by sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman. With the Greyhounds leading 3-2, the Griffins netted three straight goals to take their biggest lead of the game, 5-3, with just over 21 minutes remaining in the first half. The Greyhounds responded with four straight goals for a 7-5 lead before Gwynedd-Mercy ran off three consecutive tallies to retake the lead, 8-7, with just over 11 minutes before the intermission. The Greyhounds tied the contest at 10-10 with four second to play in the first half, only to see the Griffins score with 13 seconds left in the half to take an 11-10 lead into the break.

The Greyhounds netted the first two goals of the second half to take a 12-11 lead before Gwynedd-Mercy scored three straight goals, taking a 14-12 lead just under 25 minutes remaining. Moravian netted two goals to tie the score at 14-14 before the Griffins took a 15-14 lead with just under 12 minutes remaining. The Greyhounds tied the contest at 15-15 a minute later and built a 17-15 lead with 15 and a half minutes to play. Gwynedd-Mercy rallied to tie the match again at 17-17 with 13:28 to play before Moravian netted the final four goals of the match for its eighth win of the season.

Moravian had a 40-36 advantage in shots, a 29-25 edge in ground balls and a 26-12 advantage in draw controls in the victory as Moravian improved to 4-3 at home this season. Senior midfielder Erica Spatz led Moravian with eight points on five goals and three assists. She tied the school record for points in a season with 60 points this spring and Spatz's first assist of the match was the 100th point of her career, just the third player in school history to reach 100 career points. Spatz, who also has a school record 13 assists this season, also had five draw controls and three ground balls in the match.

Sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei netted a career high six goals for the Greyhounds while Kauffman had six points on five goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick added two goals and an assist for Moravian while senior attack Jessica Bodine and freshmen midfielders Sarah Carman and Maureen Helfers each had goals. Senior midfielder Casey Simpson added an assist in the Greyhound victory while Carman, senior defender Robyn Klem and sophomore defender Brittany Deiling each had four ground balls. Simpson added five draw controls while Carman had four draw controls. Kauffman had three draw controls and three ground balls while sophomore defender Katie Wise had three draw controls for Moravian. Greyhound sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg made 12 saves in the match for her eighth win of the season.

Kalli Bass led Gwynedd-Mercy with four goals and an assist while Kristie Pollock added four goals. Meghan Volz had three goals and two assists for the Griffins while Molly Heenan added three goals. Colleen Dellostretto had two goals and an assist while Bridget Gibson hit the back of the net once. Cailtin Volz had five draw controls for Gwynedd-Mercy while Megan Volz had a match high seven ground balls. Griffin goalie Trisha Timony had ten saves in the contest.

Vs. Wesley College - Won 14-8      Boxscore

Moravian snapped a three-match losing streak with a 14-8 non-conference win over Wesley College on the HUB Quad. The Greyhounds are now 7-5 on the season as the team continues its best season in the six-year history of the program. Moravian has also scored a school record 152 goals this season.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first 11:09 of the match including the opening goal by senior midfielder Erica Spatz just ten seconds into the contest. However, the Wolverines scored the final four goals of the first half to trail just 7-4 at halftime. Wesley then scored two of the first three goals in the second half to pull within 8-6 before Moravian ran off five straight goals, four by Spatz, to retake control of the contest. Wesley had a 33-31 edge in shots while Moravian had a 30-25 advantage in ground balls and a 13-11 edge in draw controls in the contest.

Spatz led the Greyhounds with eight goals and an assist for nine points to go with eight ground balls and three draw controls. Spatz's assist was her tenth of the season, a new school record. Sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman added four goals and five draw controls for Moravian while sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick had a goal and an assist to go with three draw controls. Sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei netted Moravians other goal while sophomore defender Katie Wise had seven ground balls and senior midfielder Robyn Klem added five ground balls and three caused turnovers. Greyhound sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had 19 saves in the victory.

Leslie Cervenka led Wesley with five goals and an assist for six points while Anna Moore had two goals and an assist. Amanda Browning found the back of the net once for the Wolverines while Stephanie Johnson had an assist. Browning had five draw controls for Wesley while Moore and Cervenka each had team highs of four ground balls. Sam Marconi made four saves in 28 minutes of action in goal for Wesley while Farryn Kauffman had five saves in 32 minutes.

Vs. The Catholic University of America - Lost 18-5      Boxscore

The Greyhounds lost their third straight Landmark Conference match, falling to 19th-ranked The Catholic University of America, 18-5, in conference action on the HUB Quad. Moravian scored first on an un assisted goal by sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick just under two minutes into the match; however, the Cardinals would score ten of the next 13 goals to lead 10-3 at halftime.

Catholic then netted the first six goals of the second half to build a 16-3 lead. The Cardinals had a 49-10 advantage in shots, a 36-30 edge in ground balls and a 15-10 advantage in draw controls in the match. Kate Robinson led Catholic in scoring with seven goals and an assist while Marcy Cuneo had two goals and three assists. Lindsay Davenport added two goals wor the Cardinals while Katie Buonpastore, Caitlin O'Neill. Kelly Ryan, Liz Calabro, Katie Bitonti, Lauren Sheils and Caroline Taltavull each had goals. Buonpastore added two assists while Calabro, O'Neill, Ryan, Laura Haring and Kate Narzikul also had assists. Melissa Brashear had four saves in 54 minutes for the Cardinals while Jackie Getty had a team high six ground balls and four caused turnovers.

Sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei had two goals for the Greyhounds while senior midfielder Erica Spatz had a goal and an assist. Spatz's assist was her ninth of the season, tying the school record for a single season. Warbrick and freshman Sarah Carman also scored for Moravian. Spatz had a team high six ground balls to go with three caused turnovers while sophomore defender Katie Wise added three ground balls and three draw controls. Senior midfielder Robyn Klem had five ground balls while Carman added three draw contrils and three ground balls. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg made 15 saves for the Greyhounds.

Moravian dropped its second straight Landmark Conference match, falling to Drew University, 18-10, on the HUB Quad. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman just 42 seconds into the match, and Moravian had a 2-1 lead at the 4:45 after the first of three goals by senior midfielder Erica Spatz.

However, Drew ran off six straight goals for a 7-2 lead with 11:30 to play in the first half. The Greyhounds scored four straight goals to pull within 7-6 with 3:30 remaining. The Rangers answered with four goals in the final 1:30 of the half to take an 11-6 halftime lead. Drew would score seven of the 11 goals in the second half, and the Rangers had a 51-23 advantage in shots, a 23-20 edge in gruond balls and a 19-11 advantage in draw controls.

Spatz paced the Greyhounds with three goals and three draw controls while junior attack Georgia Castellano had two goals. Sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick added a goal and an assist while Kauffman, sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei, sophomore defender Katie Wise and senior attack Jessica Bodine each scored goals. Wise added four ground balls, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Sophomroe goalie Courtney Rosenberg had a career high 22 saves in the match to go with four ground balls.

Sloane Coles and Cara Jeffries each netted four goals for Drew while Brook Connell had three goals and two assists. Coles and Jefferies each added four ground balls with Coles grabbing eight draw controls. Lindsey Perno had three goals and an assist for the Rangers while Stacie Brown had two goals and two assists. Rebecca Schild and Samantha Silver each had goals for Drew. Goalie Rachel Hanley made four saves in 47 minutes of action while Stef Rutkowski played the other 13 minutes.

At The University of Scranton - Lost 13-7      Boxscore

The Greyhounds had their four-match winning streak snapped with a 13-7 loss at The University of Scranton in the team's inaugural Landmark Conference contest. The Royals jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Moravian scored on an unassisted goal by junior attack Georiga Castellano. The Greyhounds scored two of the next three goals to pull within a goal, 4-3, with just over ten minutes remaining in the first half. However, Scranton scored seven straight goals and had an 8-3 halftime lead in the middle of the run.

Moravian would score four straight goals in the middle of the second half to pull back within 11-7 before the Royals netted the final two tallies of the match. Scranton had a 37-19 advantage in shots, a 19-16 edge in greound balls and a 12-10 edge in draw controls in the contest.

Castellano led the Greyhounds with three goals while senior midfielder Erica Spatz had a goal and an assist. Senior midfielder Casey Simpson, sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei and freshman midfielder Sarah Carman each found the back of the net once for Moravian while sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick had an assist. Sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman led the Greyhounds with three draw controls while sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had a team high four ground balls to go with eight saves.

Kaitlyn Mimnaugh and Katie Slade each had two goals and two assists to lead Scranton while Diana Rocklein and Erin Quinn each contributed toal goals and an assist. Heather Melone had two goals for the Royals while Kristen Marquino had a goal and an assist. Madelyn Sminkey and Kate Hale each had goals. Cassie Murphy made five saves in 53 minutes of action for Scranton while Kristina Goetz had two saves in the final seven minutes.

At Centenary College - Won 21-6      Boxscore

Moravian won its school record fourth straight win and continued the best start in school history with a 21-6 non-conference victory at Centenary College to improve to 6-2 on the year. The 21 goals scored by the Greyhounds are also a school record and the second time this season that Moravian has netted more than 20 goals in a match.

The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman just over a minute into the match. The Cyclones responded with two goals, taking a 2-1 lead. Moravian would retake the lead for good with four straight goals including two by junior midfielder Paige Warbrick.

The Greyhounds had just a 7-4 lead at halftime and saw Centenary pull within two goals at 7-5 just over 1:30 into the second half. Moravian would put the contest away with nine straight goals. The Greyhounds had a 42-23 advantage in shots and a 14-13 edge in draw controls while the Cyclones had a 22-14 advantage in ground balls in the contest.

Kauffman led the Greyhounds with five goals while senior midfielder Erica Spatz contributed four goals and a team high five ground balls. Warbrick and senior midfielder Casey Simpson each had hat tricks for Moravian while junior attack Georgia Castellano had two goals and a career high three assists. Freshman midfielder Sarah Carman added two goals for the Greyhounds while sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei and freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers each found the back of the net once. Senior midfielder Robyn Klem added an assist and three draw controls in the Moravian win while sophomore defender Katie Wise also won three draw controls. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg made 13 saves for her sixth win of the season for the Greyhounds.

Nicole Becker led Centenary with three goals while Megan Mars added two goals. Lauren Feldman found the back of the net once for the Cyclones while Michelle Garone had an assist. Kiti Ovaskainen led Centenary with five ground balls and five draw controls while Clare Johnson made 14 saves in goal.

At Arcadia University - Won 14-8      Boxscore

The Greyhounds continued the best start in school history with their school record third straight win, a 14-8 non-conference victory at Arcadia University. Moravian is now 5-2 on the season, two victories more than the previous high in the six-year history of the program.

Moravian fell behind 1-0 before scoring four straight goals to take a 4-1 lead, an advantage the Greyhounds would not relenquish. Moravian had a 6-4 halftime lead and had a 34-21 advantage in shots and a 15-10 edge in ground balls while the Knights had a 12-6 advantage in draw controls.

Senior midfielder Erica Spatz led the Greyhounds with six goals and tied the school record with four assists. Spatz's ten points also tied the single match record for Moravian. Sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman and sophomore attack Paige Warbrick each had two goals for the Greyhounds while junior attack Georgia Castellano added a goal and an assist. Kauffman and Spatz each had two draw controls. Sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei led Moravian with three ground balls to go with a goal while senior midfielder Casey Simpson and freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers each tallied goals. Sophomore defender Katie Wise added an assist for Moravian while sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had nine saves for the Greyhounds.

Jill Hersh led Arcadia with two goals and two assists for four points while Shannon Bustin had two goals and an assist. Jamie Stevenson had two goals for the Knights to go with a mathc high six draw controls while Janelle Jablonski added a goal, an assist and three ground balls. Danielle Klim had a goal and three draw controls while Melanie Mark added an assist. Michelle Leone made 20 saves in the match for Arcadia.

At Wilkes University - Won 18-15      Boxscore

Moravian used a three-goal outburst midway through the second half to snap a tie game on its way to an 18-15 non-conference victory at Wilkes University. The victory improved the Greyhounds to 4-2 overall and established a new school record for wins in a season in the sixth year of the varisty program. It also marked the first time in school history that Moravian is two games over .500.

Moravian scored the first five goals of the game, including three by sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei, to take the lead.  Wilkes would rally and cut the deficit to 9-6 at halftime. The Lady Colonels would out-score the Greyhounds 5-2 to begin the second half to pull even at 11-11 with 19:34 remaining in the contest. Moravian would then rattle off three straight tallies to take the lead for good.  Sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman, Pagliei and senior midfielder Erica Spatz scored the goals, and the Greyhounds had a 14-11 advantage with 14:21 left. 

Wilkes cut the lead to a single goal on two occasions, including 15-14 with 4:06 left.  But, Spatz scored two straight goals and freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers added a score to up the Moravian lead to 18-14 with 1:33 left and put the game out of reach. The Greyhounds held a 33-31 shots advantage and a 26-17 edge in ground balls while the Lady Colonels had an 18-17 edge in draw controls.  Moravian sophomore goalkeeper Courtney Rosenberg picked up the win by stopping 12 shots and adding two ground balls.  Wilkes goalie Stacy Fimmano ended the day with 10 saves and two ground balls.

Spatz had six goals and one assist to lead the Moravian attack.  Pagliei contributed five goals and one assist, while Kauffman had four goals.  Helfers, sophomore attack Paige Warbrick and junior attack Georgia Castellano had one goal apiece.  Spatz also had nine draw controls to break her own school record for a single match, and the nine draws pushed Spatz's career total to 119, a new Moravian career record. Sophomore defender Katie Wise paced the Greyhounds with six ground balls, three caused turnovers and three draw controls while Kauffman and Warbick each had three ground balls.

Justine Leggio scored five goals and handed out two assists for Wilkes to go along with nine draw controls and four caused turnovers.  Melissa Polchinski added four goals and Brittany Hodnik had three goals and three assists.  Ashley Leggio was credited with two goals and six assists, while Chelsea Weinstein had one goal and one assist.

at Arcadia University - Postponed to March 31st

The Greyhounds non-conference match at Arcadia University for Thursday, March 20th has been postponed due to poor field conditions. The contest has been rescheduled for Monday, March 31st at 4:00 p.m. at Arcadia.

Vs. Chestnut Hill College - Won 20-16      Boxscore

Moravian won its second home match of the season and moved over .500 five matches into the season for the first time in the brief six-year history of the program with a 20-16 non-conference win over NCAA Division II Chestnut Hill College on the HUB Quad. The three victories also equal the most in a single season for the Greyhound program in the six years the sport has had varsity status. The 20 goals are also the most Moravian has scored in a single match since the program began.

Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 1:11 in the contest on a goal by sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei. The match would remain close with the Griffins tying the score twice at 1-1 and 3-3. Moravian would take the lead for good, 4-3, on a goal by sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman at the 10:21 mark. The Greyhounds largest lead of the game was 11-6 late in the first half, and Moravian headed to the intermission with a 12-8 advantage. In the second half, the closest Chestnut Hill would get was two goals at 17-15 with just under nine minutes remaining in the contest. Moravian had a 44-30 advantage in shots and a 31-17 edge in ground balls while both teams won 19 draw controls.

Kauffman led the Greyhounds with a career high ten points, tying the single match record, with six goals and four assists, which breaks the school mark. Senior midfielder Erica Spatz also netted six goals for Moravian to go with an assist, five ground balls, four draw controls and three caused turnovers. Kauffman had a team high five draw controls while Pagliei had two goals, four ground balls and three draw controls. Junior attack Georgia Castellano and senior midfielder Casey Simpson each found the back of the cage twice in the Greyhound victory while sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick and freshman midfielder Sarah Carman each had goals. Freshman midfielder Maureen Helfers added an assist while Carman added five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had seven saves in just over 42 minutes of action for Moravian while freshman keeper Angel Genther had two saves in the other 18 minutes.

Junior attack/midfielder Stephanie Carlyle had a team high six goals for Chestnut Hill to go with three draw controls and four ground balls while junior attack Katie Donovan found the back of the net four times. Junior midfielder Tiffanie Stanton had three goals for the Griffins while sophomore defender/midfielder Carley Glass had a goal, an assist, three ground balls and three draw controls. Junior defender/midfielder Sarah Possinger had a goal, four ground balls and four draw controls for Chestnut Hill while sophomore attack/midfielder Maryanne Glass added five draw controls, two ground balls and a goal. Griffin junior goalie Stephanie Jordan made 16 saves in the match.

Moravian earned a 15-9 non-conference victory over Bryn Mawr College in the first day of the Tri-Co Tournament at Swarthmore College. Bryn Mawr scored first and had a 2-1 lead when the Greyhounds ran of three straight goals to take a lead. Moravian had a 6-5 advantage at the intermission only to see Bryn Mawr score first at tie the contest at 6-6 early in the second half. The Greyhounds had another three-goal run to take control of the contest. Moravian had a 39-30 advantage in shots and an 18-8 edge in draw controls while Bryn Mawr had a 25-24 edge in ground balls. Sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei led Moravian with four goals and an assists, her second four-goal match of the season, while sophomore midfielder Lynda Kauffman added four goals. Freshman attack Shannon Algeo and junior attack Georgia Castellano each found the back of the cage twice for Moravian while sophomore attack Paige Warbrick, senior midfielder Casey Simpson and freshman midfielder Sarah Carman each scoring a goal. Warbrick also had an assist while freshman midfielder Mauren Helfers tied the Moravian single match record with three assists in the contest. Sophomore goalie Courtney Rosenberg had a career high 18 saves to go with four ground balls in the victory while Carman led the Greyhounds with five ground balls and five caused turnovers. Kauffman had four ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers for Moravian. Greta Flaherty and Moriah Scott each had four goals for Bryn Mawr while Cara Sogliuzzo had one goal. Caroline Heffernan and Evan Schneider each added assists. Stephanie Hilton had 19 saves for Bryn Mawr to go with a team high five ground balls. Flaherty had a match high six caused turnovers.

The Greyhounds dropped a 20-5 non-conference decision to rival Muhlenberg College in a match played at Rocco Calvo Field due to field conditions on the HUB Quad. Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore attack Jillian Pagliei just 1:05 into the match. The Mules responded with six straight goals with two by junior midfielder Megan Wilson. Moravian would score a pair of goals to cut the Muhlenberg lead to 6-3 with just under 12 minutes remaining in the first half. The Mules scored the last eight goals of the first 30 minutes to head to the intermission with a 14-3 lead, and Muhlenberg netted four more goals to start the second half. The Mules had a 40-15 advantage in shots, a 30-29 edge in ground balls and a 16-12 advantage in draw controls. Senior midfielder Erica Spatz netted three of Moravian's goals and had a game high seven ground balls while sophomore midfielder Paige Warbrick had the Greyhounds other goal to go along with an assist. The victory was Moravian's first season opening win in the six-year history of the program.
