The Greyhounds had their best season ever come to a close with a 1-0 loss at Dickinson College in the Second Round of the 2005 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Moravian closes out its year with a 16-6-1 record, a new school record for victories, and four of the losses were by one goal, including three 1-0 losses to regionally-ranked schools. The Greyhounds also won their first-ever Commonwealth Conference Tournament match, played for the Commonwealth Conference Championship for the first time in school history, and participated in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in the 12-year history of the program, winning a first round match. Dickinson would score the only goal of the match the host Red Devils needed in the 21st minute when Sarah Casey put home a pass from Lisa Nichols. The Greyhounds would have opportunities to score as Moravian had a 21-20 advantage in shots in the match. Junior forward Kristina Adams had Moravian's best scoring chance, hitting the post in the 67th minute. Moravian had three more shots in the final 21 minutes that needed to be saved while Greyhound freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made three of her eight saves in the final 16 and a half minutes to keep it a one-goal match. Dickinson had a 5-2 edge in corner kicks in the contest, and Red Devil goalie Alanna Schechtman had 13 saves in the shutout.

Senior forward Megan Collins scored a pair of goals including her eighth game-winning goal of the season in the 103rd minute to lead Moravian to a 2-1, double-overtime victory over Washington & Lee University in an NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament First Round match at Dickinson College. Moravian improves to 16-5-1 on the season, a school record for victories. The match was the Greyhounds' first-ever in NCAA Tournament play, and the Greyhounds will play the host Red Devils on Sunday, November 13th in the second round at 1:00 p.m. The two teams played a scoreless first half. The Generals would take a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute when Anne Van Devender headed in a corner kick by Marisa Van Brunt. Moravian needed just 131 seconds to tie the match as Collins found the upper left-hand corner of the net in the 58th minute from 25-yards out off a direct kick after Washington & Lee foul. The match would remain tied into the second overtime when Collins scored her 16th goal of the season, tying Carli Miller's single season Moravian record. Collins hit the lower right-hand corner this time off another direct kick. Moravian had a 10-9 advantage in shots including a 3-0 edge in overtime while Washington & Lee had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks. Moravian freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made three saves in the victory while Kiki Moreo had two saves for the Generals.

At Messiah College in Commonwealth Conference Championship – Lost 4-0      Box Score

Moravian's first-ever trip to the Commonwealth Conference Tournament Championship match didn't turn out to be a good one as the second seeded Greyhounds fell to top seed Messiah College, 4-0. The Falcons, undefeated and the top ranked team in the nation, scored two goals in each half to claim their sixth straight Commonwealth Conference Championship. Messiah got on the scoreboard in the 24th minute on a direct kick by Avie Fitzgerald. Hannah Levesque scored the first of two unassisted goals in the 34th minute for a 2-0 lead. The Falcons first goal of the second half had Billie Jo Atkins finding the net off of a corner kick by Jessica Steadman, and Levesque finished off the scoring in the 69th minute. Messiah had a 20-8 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. Greyhound freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made four saves and Moravian had one team save while Cassie Gross had four saves in the shutout for Messiah. Moravian will wait until Monday morning when the NCAA announces its 2005 National Championship Tournament field to see if the Greyhounds receive on of 19 at-large berths available for the tournament. Should Moravian not get in the NCAA Tournament, the Greyhounds will likely be awarded a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Mid-Atlantic Championship Tournament that will be announced Monday afternoon.

Vs. Elizabethtown College in Commonwealth Conference Semifinals – Won 1-0      Box Score

The Greyhounds won their first-ever Commonwealth Conference Tournament match as second seeded Moravian defeated third seed Elizabethtown College, 1-0, in a Commonwealth Conference Semifinal on the HUB Quad. The victory was the Greyhounds' 15th of the season, tying the school record set back during the 2000 season. Moravian scored the only goal of the match 56th minute when junior midfielder Alisha Davy put her shot into the upper left-hand corner of the net from 12 yards out off a crossing pass from freshman midfielder Tracy Fitzpatrick. The goal was Davy's second of the season. The Greyhounds had three other chances to score in the match, hitting the cross bar in the 33rd minute, hitting the post in the 65th minute and missing an open net in the 90th minute. Moravian had a 13-7 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. Freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made one save for her school record tenth shutout of the season. Moravian advances to the Commonwealth Conference Championship match for the first time in school history and will travel to Messiah College on Saturday, November 5th at 5:00 p.m.

Moravian scored a pair of first half goals for a 2-0 victory over Susquehanna University in Commonwealth Conference action on the HUB Quad in the final regular season match for both schools. The regionally-ranked Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick netted her eighth goal of the season off an assist by senior forward Lindsay Pohl. Moravian scored its other goal of the match in the 40th minute when senior defender Erin Gonda drove home a corner kick by senior forward Megan Collins for Gonda’s third goal of the season. The Greyhounds had a 9-3 advantage in shots in the match and a 4-0 edge in corner kicks. Moravian freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made two saves in her ninth shutout of the season. Moravian will return to action on Tuesday, November 1st in the Commonwealth Conference Tournament. The Greyhounds will be the second seed and host third seeded Elizabethtown College on the HUB Quad at 2:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds suffered a 2-1 loss to York College of Pennsylvania in non-conference action on the HUB Quad in a match that saw Moravian fail to put a ball in the net. The Greyhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 21st minute when the Spartans knocked the ball in their own net on an attempt crossing pass by Moravian junior forward Kristina Adams. York would tie the contest in the 57th minute and score the game-winning goal in the 74th minute. Both teams had ten shots in the match while Moravian had a 6-2 edge in corner kicks. Senior forward Megan Collins scored a pair of goals to lead Moravian to a 2-0 shutout of rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action at Frank Banko Field. The match was moved to the Sportexe turf at Frank Banko Field from Moravian’s HUB Quad due to poor field conditions and rain. Collins netted her 13th goal of the season in the 30th minute to give the Greyhounds all of the offense they would need. Freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick crossed the ball from the corner and junior forward Kristina Adams used a touch pass to Collins, giving her a wide open net to shoot at. Collins scored her 14th goal of the season and 39th of her career in the 51st minute when she found a rebound off of the Muhlenberg goalie at her feet and an open net to shoot at. The Greyhounds had a 7-3 advantage in shots while both teams had five corner kicks. Moravian freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made one save in her third consecutive shutout and eighth shutout of the season. The victory also gives Moravian a 3-2 lead in the annual Matte Award standings between the two rivals.

Moravian suffered its first loss of the season in Commonwealth Conference action, falling to the top-ranked team in the nation, Messiah College, 3-1. The Falcons, ranked first in the nation in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25 Poll, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute. The Greyhounds tied the match a minute later when freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick scored an unassisted goal, her seventh goal of the season. Messiah needed just one minute to retake the lead, and the Falcons got an insurance goal in the 66th minute when Moravian's defense put the ball in its own net for an own goal. Messiah had a 24-6 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks. Moravian freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made 12 saves in the match.

The Greyhounds had their four-match winning streak snapped in a 1-0 loss at Haverford College in a battle of two of the top teams in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region. The Fords, ranked eighth in the region this week, scored the 49th minute and held on for the victory. Moravian, which was ranked sixth in the region this week, had its best opportunity to score in the 51st minute when senior forward Megan Collins put a direct kick on goal by Haverford goalie Lindsay Festa, making her first start of the season, punched the ball just over the crossbar to protect the 1-0 lead. The Greyhounds, whose only two losses are to regionally ranked teams by 1-0 scores, had a 17-15 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in corner kicks in the match. Freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made six saves for Moravian while Festa had eight stops.

The Greyhounds won their second straight Commonwealth Conference match with a 3-1 victory over visiting Widener University on the HUB Quad to improve to 7-1 on the season. Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the tenth minute when senior forward Megan Collins found the back of the net for her seventh goal of the season, off an assist from freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick. This was the third time in four matches that the duo connected on a goal in the first 13 minutes of a contest. Moravian would take a 2-0 lead in the 28th minute when Collins found the back of the net with an unassisted goal for her eighth tally of the season. Collins has had three multiple goal games this season. The Greyhounds, ranked sixth in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region this week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the tenth minute when senior forward Megan Collins tapped in a crossing pass from freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick. Moravian extended its lead to 2-0 in the 12th minute while junior forward Kristina Adams was able to put a crossing pass from junior midfielder Alisha Davy in the back of the net for her second goal of the season. The match had two of the top teams in the Mid-Atlantic Region in the Greyhounds ranked fifth and the Colonels ranked ninth in the latest rankings released last Tuesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Both teams entered the contest with 5-0 records. Moravian had a 13-9 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks in the match. Greyhound freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made two saves in her first college loss. Wilkes sophomore keeper Liz Pauly had seven saves for the Colonels.

The Greyhounds kept their undefeated record intact with a 2-1, overtime victory over visiting University of Scranton on the HUB Quad. Moravian, which is ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Region this week which is the team's highest -ever ranking, is 5-0 on the year, the best start in school history. The only other time Moravian was undefeated after five matches was in 1996 when the team started 9-0-1, however, the tie was in the first match of the season. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute when senior forward Megan Collins scored off a pass from freshman forward Tracy Fitzpatrick, who had just entered the match. Scranton tied the contest in the 56th minute, the Royals first goal of the year. Both teams had chances late in regulation but neither could finish. Just under 30 seconds into overtime, Fitzpatrick took the ball down the right side and centered it to Collins, who fired in the game-winning goal from 12 yards out. The goal was Collins' fourth of the season. Moravian had a 12-7 advantage in shots while Scranton had a 9-5 edge in corner kicks. The Greyhounds, who are 4-0 for the first time since the 2001 season, scored the only goal of the match they would need in the 16th minute when freshman midfielder/forward Tracy Fitzpatrick took a pass from senior forward Megan Collins just after entering the match and found the back of the net for her third goal of the season. The duo would connect again on Moravian's other goal in the first minute of the second half, this time Collins netting her second goal of the season off an assist by Fitzpatrick. The Greyhounds remained undefeated in 2005 with a 5-1 victory over McDaniel College on the first day of the University of Mary Washington Soccer Classic. The Green Terror jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute before Moravian ran off five straight goals. Freshman midfielder/forward Tracy Fitzpatrick tied the contest with an unassisted goal in the 40th minutes. Junior forward Kristina Adams gave the Greyhounds the lead for good in the 48th minute of an assist from Fitzpatrick. Senior midfielder Jessica Cordani scored her first goal of the season in the 62nd minute off a pass from Adams. Freshman defender Alexandra Frascella netted an unassisted goal in the 78th minute, her second of the season, before senior forward Megan Collins finished off the scoring with her first goal of the year off a pass from sophomore forward Casey Simpson in the 90th minute. Moravian improved to 2-0 on the season with a 3-0 shutout of Wesley (DE) College in a non-conference match on the HUB Quad in the Greyhounds' first home match of 2005. Moravian scored the only goal it would need in the sixth minute when senior forward Lindsay Pohl headed in a goal off a pass from senior defender Erin Gonda. Gonda netted her first goal of the season in the 25th minute off an assist from sophomore defender Allison Solomita. Gonda also finished off the scoring with a header off a corner kick by senior forward Megan Collins in the 60th minute. The Greyhounds had a 15-0 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks. Freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan played 84 minutes for the Greyhounds and did not face a shot while sophomore keeper Kelly Wight played the final 5:45 to complete the shutout.

At Drew University – Won 2-1 (double overtime)   Box Score

After playing to a 1-1 draw at the end of the first half, it appeared as though the Drew University and Moravian College women’s soccer teams were destined for a deadlock. The two squads ended regulation and the first sudden-death overtime with the score tied. Then, with just 57 seconds remaining in the second and final overtime, Moravian freshman Alexandra Frascella kicked home the game-winning goal off of a mishandled shot by the keeper. Moravian’s first goal was an unassisted shot from outside the 18 yard box by freshman Tracy Fitzpatrick. Greyhound freshman goalie Caitlin Corrigan made five saves in her collegiate debut.
