- The team began the European tour in Salzburg, Austria. This picture is taken in the main garden of the city where the Sound of Music was filmed. We had a great tour guide for the city that included the garden, castle and unbelievable marketplace.

- From the top of the castle in Salzburg, the beautiful mountains that surround the city can be seen for miles.

- As you can imagine from this picture, Salzburg was by far the prettiest city we visited on the trip.

- Our first match was played against German professional team Union Kleinmunchen on our 2nd day of the trip. An extremely skillful team who gave us a good introduction to the European game.

- Our next destination was Heidelberg, Germany for sightseeing and more soccer.

- On our first day, we got a tour of the city that included the trek up more than 350 steps to the castle. After a tough training session in the rain that morning, we weren’t sure if the entire team was going to make it all the way up!

- Our entire group at the castle, except for KK’s dad who was in his normal spot – behind the camera. In the castle, the team saw one of the largest wine kegs in Europe.

- In our last day in Heidelberg, the team played against FCR 01 Duisburg, one of the best professional teams in Germany. In the friendly, we offered one of our GK’s to the other team because their first string GK was busy playing for the German national team in the Olympics.

- On our way from Heidelberg to Holland, the team got off the bus for a beautiful cruise down the River Rhine Valley through Germany. The views were awesome that included small villages that surrounded each castle, vineyards right on the banks of the river and Lorelei Rock.

- The junior class at the “Three Land Point” – the exact place where Germany, Holland and Belgium meet. Who is asking Katie Wise for her passport?

- The team visited the only American World War II cemetery the Netherlands. The land was donated to the United States by the Netherlands and located in the village of Margraten. There rest more than 8,000 US soldiers who perished in WWII. More information on the cemetery can be found at www.abmc.gov/cemeteries/cemeteries/ne.php.

- Our third game of the trip was against Lentezon Beerse in Belguim. The game was briefly interrupted by a huge thunderstorm after it seemed like the referee needed lighting to actually strike the field before letting the teams go to the locker rooms.
- Assistant coaches Jill Vaccaro and Kristina Adams at ArenA in Amsterdam. The team saw two unbelievable games in Amsterdam as Italian Serie A champions Inter Milan tied Spanish league side Sevilla in the first game and England’s Arsenal defeated home side Ajax 3-2 after trailing 2 nil at the break.

- Several members of the team and coach’s daughter MacKenzie during the team building portion of Adventure Day in Holland. The day consisted of biking and team building sessions more than 100 feet underground. I think it might have been the first time several players rode a bike since grade school.

- This picture was taken moments before our final game of the trip against Standard Liege in Belgium. Standard Liege recently purchased several highly paid professional players to make a run at the Belgian League and UEFA championship. They were one of the best teams the Greyhounds have ever seen!

- After playing the women’s side, we were treated to Standard Liege men’s team SuperCup game v. rival Anderlecht. The fans of the home side were awesome, cheering the team to a 3-1 win in which American Oguchi Onyewu scored 2 goals.

- The team in front of The Cathedral in Cologne, Germany. The Cathedral is massive and took more than 700 years to build.
