The Moravian College women’s soccer team finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 8-8-2 and a post in the Landmark Conference of 3-2-1. The Greyhounds earned a berth to the 2009 ECAC Division III South tournament under the direction of 11th-year head coach Eric Lambinus.
Leading the Greyhounds this season was sophomore forward Arielle Caldas (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West HS), pictured below, with 13 goals and three assists for a total of 29 points. Also contributing was junior forward/midfielder Shannon McEvoy (Lafayette, NJ/High Point with five goals and five assists for a total of 15 points while senior midfielder Alessandra Valdetara (Butler, NJ/Butler HS), pictured right, added five goals and four assists for 14 points. Both McEvoy and Valdetara were named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team.
Sophomore defender Diana Feldmann (York, PA/Central York HS) had two goals and two assists for six points and was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team while freshman midfielder Tess Lowe (Cranford, NJ/Union Catholic HS) contributed two goals and three assists for seven points. Junior forward/midfielder Emily Rodriguez (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) had sevens assists for seven points while freshman defender Eileen Black (Branchburg, NJ/Somerville HS) added two goals and an assist for five points., and each player earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference Second Tteam.
Sophomore midfielder Kim Gogel (Whippany, NJ/Whippany Park HS) had a goal with four assists for six points while junior midfielder Tara Alberse (New Providence, NJ/New Providence HS) added two goals and an assist for five points. Senior midfielder JeriAnne Weiss (Allentown, PA/Salisbury HS) contributed a goal and an assist for three points while sophomore midfielder Kristin Popovice (Roseto, PA/Bangor HS) had a goal. Also with a goal or the Greyhounds was junior forward Janelle Mirro (Bath, PA/Notre Dame Hs), who missed matches with an injury.
Also contributing for Moravian were seniors defender Terri Roberts (Danville, PA/Danville HS), defender Kathleen Wise (Ardsley, PA/Abington HS), and defender Brittany Deiling (Chews Landing, NJ/Triton Regional HS), junior defender Kaitlyn Russell (South River, NJ/South River), sophomore defenders Elizabeth Brundage (Clarks Summit, PA/Abington Heights HS) and Kim Mogg (Stamford, CT/West Hill HS), and freshmen midfielder Jenna Stickle (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) and midfielder/defender Margaret DeOliveira (Berkleigh Heights, NJ/Blair Academy).
Junior goalie Sarah Halpin (Downington, PA/Downington West HS) had a 1.26 goals-against average, 70 saves, and five shutouts in 1,565 minutes of play. Freshman goalie Tori Korona (Easton, PA/Easton HS) added a 2.44 goals-against average and eight saves in 110 minutes of action.
Roberts, Weiss, Valdetara, Deiling, Alberse, Halpin, Russell, Brundage, Feldmann and Gogel were all named to the 2009 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Feldmann was named to the 2009 Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll while Halpin was on the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team and Feldmann earned a spot on the All-District Second Team.
