Moravian won its only dual match of the spring non-traditional season,
defeating NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania,
6-3. The Greyhounds took two of three doubles matches with wins by the
teams of freshman MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Brittany Popaca and freshmen
Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. In singles action, the team's played just
one proset with Moravian winning four of six matches. Kelly won at third
singles while sophomore Jennel Yelito, junior Margo Kokolus and sophomore
Rebecca Angstadt won at fourth through sixth singles.

Moravian had four individuals, the most-ever for the Greyhounds, and
a pair of doubles teams move into the championship round at the 2005
Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament
being hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Lehigh University's Goodman
Campus. The Greyhounds did have one singles champion with top seeded
freshman MaryKate Kelly capturing the Fourth Singles Championship with
a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mary Kate McElvaney of DeSales University. Kelly
defeated third seeded Sadie Sumner of Messiah College, 6-2, 6-1 in the
semifinals.
Moravian's other top seed in singles action was sophomore Brittany
Popaca in the third singles flight. Popaca defeated Sara Ryder of Wilkes
University, 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals before falling to second seeded
Jessica Coty of the University of Scranton, 6-3, 6-1 in the championship
round. The loss was Popaca's first of the season in singles action.
At fifth singles, second seeded sophomore Jennel Yelito defeated third
seeded Gretchen Sullivan of the University of Scranton, 6-1, 6-1, in
the semifinals before falling to top seed Heather Lander of Elizabethtown
College, 6-2, 6-1 in the title match. In the sixth singles flight, second
seeded senior Katie Cooke earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory over third seeded
Emma Dunn of Susquehanna University in the semifinals before losing
to top seeded Kristy Trimbey of Elizabethtown College, 6-2, 6-1 in the
championship match.
Gruber and Bradshaw defeated Katie Zimmerman and Amanda Handman of
Susquehanna University, 8-5 in the quarterfinals and the team of Jessica
Coty and Gretchen Sullivan of the University of Scranton, 8-3 in the
quarterfinals. The duo lost to top seeded Mary Kate McElvaney and Courtney
McClurkin of DeSales University, 8-6, in the championship match. Hall
and Kokolus earned an 8-0 victory over Sarah Costello and Natalie Kottke
of the University of Scranton in the semifinals and an 8-6 win over
Leslie Sabas and Angela Petiak of Lebanon Valley College in the semifinals.
The pair fell to top seeded Heather Lander and Kristy Trimbey of Elizabethtown
College, 8-6, in the championship match.
The Greyhounds' other doubles team of Kelly and freshman Dyana Swan
was knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals with an 8-3 loss
to Rebecca Grant and Meredith Rempala of Messiah College.

Moravian had four of six individuals move past the quarterfinals and
all three doubles teams move past the first round at the 2005 Middle
Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament
being hosted by Lebanon Valley College at Lehigh University's Goodman
Campus. Rain forced the tournament indoors onto four courts and the
first day of competition ran until nearly midnight on Saturday. Because
the tournament was indoors, all matches were one proset to eight points.
All four of Moravian's seeded individuals and both of its seeded doubles
teams moved on by first round byes while the doubles team of freshmen
Dyana Swan and MaryKate Kelly upset fourth seeded Maggie Leuzarder and
Danielle Red of the University of Scranton, 8-3, in the first round.
Swan dropped an 8-2 decision to Jessie Huber of Albight College in
the first round of the first singles flight while senior Nicole Gruber
fell to Sarah Boynton of Susquehanna University, 8-6, in the first round
of the second single bracket.
In the quarterfinals of the singles matches, top seeded sophomore Brittany
Popaca defeated Jenny Larson of Lebanon Valley College, 8-2, in the
third singles flight while freshman and top seed MaryKate Kelly defeated
Alice Yu from Elizabethtown College, 8-3 in the fourth singles bracket.
In the fifth singles flight, second seeded sophomore Jennel Yelito defeated
Colleen Soloman from DeSales University, 8-2, while senior and second
seed Katie Cooke earned a victory in the sixth singles bracket quarterfinals
over Amanda Marchica of King's College, 8-0.

victory over Drew University in non-conference action at Hoffman Courts.
Moravian had a 2-1 lead after doubles action with wins by the doubles
tandem of senior Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw and the junior
duo of Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus. The Greyhounds won five of six
singles matches in straight sets with victories by Gruber, senior Katie
Cooke, freshman MaryKate Kelly and sophomores Brittany Popaca and Jennel
Yelito. Moravian finishes the year at 15-2 in doubles contests.

conference championship match with their tenth straight win of the 2005
season, defeating fourth seed Lebanon Valley College, 7-2, in a Commonwealth
Conference Semifinal match played at Lehigh University's indoor courts
due to weather. Moravian led 2-1 after the doubles matches with victories
by the team of freshmen Dyana Swan and MaryKate Kelly and the junior
duo of Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus. The Greyhounds then captured
five of six singles matches in straight sets for the victory. Earning
wins in singles action were Kelly, seniors Katie Cooke and Nicole Gruber
and sophomores Brittany Popaca and Jennel Yelito. Moravian will host
second seeded and defending conference champion Elizabethtown College
in the 2005 Commonwealth Conference Championship match on Saturday,
October 15th at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts. The Blue Jays defeated
third seeded Messiah College, 5-4, in the other semifinal match.

the teams of senior Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw and the
junior duo of Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus. Moravian also won five
singles matches with victories by Gruber, senior Katie Cooke, freshman

Moravian's final Commonwealth Conference match of the 2005 season
at Susquehanna University has been postponed until Sunday, October 9th.
The match will now be played at the West Branch Tennis Club in South
Williamsport, Pennsylvania beginning at 11:00 a.m. A victory for the
Greyhounds will clinch the top seed in the Commonwealth Conference Team
Tournament which begins on October 12th.
At DeSales University Won 7-2
The Greyhounds captured their eighth straight victory with a 7-2 win
at previously-undefeated DeSales University in non-conference action.
Moravian led 3-0 after the doubles contests with victories by the teams
of freshmen MaryKate Kelly and Dyana Swan, juniors Courtney Hall and
Margo Kokolus and senior Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw.
The Greyhounds then won four singles matches with straight sets victories

doubles action, the duo of senior Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw
lost in the first round to the tandem of Erica Lukoski and Jennie Park,
8-4. Gruber and Bradshaw then fell to the team of Diana Ricker and Hilary
Teeter in the first round of the consolation bracket, 8-5, to be knocked

Moravian earned its fourth straight victory with a 7-2 victory over
rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action at Hoffman Courts.
The Greyhounds led 2-1 after the doubles competition with wins by the
teams of senior Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw and the junior
duo of Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus. Moravian won five of the six
singles matches with straight sets victories by Gruber, senior Katie
Cooke, sophomore Brittany Popaca and freshman MaryKate Kelly. The Greyhounds
also received a three-set triumph from sophomore Jennel Yelito. The
victory helped Moravian tie the Annual Matte Award standings with Muhlenberg
at 2-2 with 12 more contests throughout the academic year.

7-2, in a Commonwealth Conference match. Moravian led 2-1 after the

sophomore Leah Bradshaw and the duo of juniors Courtney Hall and Margo
Kokolus. The Greyhounds had five straight sets wins in singles competition
to clinch the victory with triumphs by Gruber, senior Katie Cooke, sophomores
Brittany Popaca and Jennel Yelito and freshman MaryKate Kelly.

2-1, after the doubles matches with just a win by the duo of senior
Nicole Gruber and sophomore Leah Bradshaw. Moravian won four of the
six singles contests to win the match. Moravian had straight sets victories
by sophomore Brittany Popaca and freshman Mary Kate Kelly and three
set wins by freshman Dyana Swan and senior Katie Cooke. The victory
by Cooke at sixth singles took over two hours to play and was the deciding
flight in the match.

Popaca and freshman MaryKate Kelly each had straight sets wins for Moravian

The Greyhounds began the match by winning two of three doubles contests

won the third through sixth singles flights in straight sets with victories
