Vs. Goucher College in 2009 Landmark Conference Championship - Won 8-1 - Box Score

Top seed Moravian captured its second straight Landmark Conference Women’s Tennis Championship, defeating third seed Goucher College, 8-1, at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds finish the season with an eight-match winning streak to post a 14-5 overall record and have not lost two a Landmark Conference opponent in the two-year history of the conference.  The title is Moravian’s tenth in the last 15 years, and it was the 15th straight season the Greyhounds played in the conference championship match.  Goucher ends the year with a 13-5 record. Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead b y sweeping the doubles action.  Freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan earned an 8-3 win at first doubles while freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola also won 8-3 at second doubles.  Senior MaryKate Kelly won 8-2 at second third doubles. The Greyhounds then won five of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.  Fein won in straight sets at first singles while Swan and Kelly each completed their careers with straight sets wins at second and third singles respectively.  McKinley also won in straight sets at fourth singles for her school record 20th singles win of the season.  Meola had a straight sets win at sixth singles.

Vs. The University of Scranton in 2009 Landmark Conference Semifinals - Won 8-1 - Box Score

Top seeded Moravian advanced to the 2009 Landmark Conference Championship match with an 8-1 victory over fourth seed The University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference Semifinal at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds, who are the defending Landmark Conference Champion, will face third seed Goucher College, which upset second seed Juniata College, 5-4, in Wednesday’s other semifinal.  Moravian seeking its tenth conference title and will be making its 15th straight conference championship match appearance since 1995.  The Greyhounds have also won their last seven matches this spring. Moravian jumped out to a 3-0 lead over Scranton with a sweep of the doubles action.  Freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan earned an 8-1 win at first doubles while freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola won 8-3 at second doubles.  Senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley had an 8-1 win at third doubles. The Greyhounds then won five of the six singles matches with four victories in straight sets.  Fein earn a two-set win at first singles while Kelly won in straight sets at third singles.  McKinley tied the school record with her 19th singles win of the year in two sets at fourth singles while Meola had a straight sets win at sixth singles.  Freshman Alexandra Hay need three sets for a win at fifth singles while Swan dropped her second singles match in straight sets but forced a tiebreaker in the first set.

Vs. Juniata College - Won 8-1 - Box Score

Moravian won a battle of previously undefeated teams in Landmark Conference action, defeating visiting Juniata College, 8-1, at Hoffman Courts to earn the top seed in the 2009 Landmark Conference Tournament and finish its second straight undefeated conference regular season. The victory was the sixth straight for Moravian.  The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-1 lead in doubles action.  Moravian had wins from the teams of freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley. The Greyhounds swept the singles action.  Fein won in straight sets at first singles while Swan needed three sets for a win at second singles.  Kelly posted a straight sets win at third singles while McKinley won in two sets at fourth singles for her 18th singles victory of the season, to move within a win of the single season record.  Freshman Alexandra Hay won in straight sets at fifth singles while freshman Anna Meola was victorious at sixth singles in two sets. Moravian will host The University of Scranton in a Landmark Conference semifinal match on Wednesday, April 29th beginning at 3:30 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.

At Ursinus College - Won 5-4 - Box Score

Moravian won its sixth straight match and finished off its 2008-09 non-conference schedule with a 5-4 victory at Ursinus College. The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action with wins by the teams of freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. The teams then split the singles matches with each school winning three. Fein earned a victory in straight sets at first singles while Swan and McKinley each needed three sets to win at second and fourth singles respectively.

At Drew University - Won 8-1 - Box Score

The Greyhounds remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action and in a tie for first place with an 8-1 victory at Drew University. Moravian led 2-1 after doubles action with victories from the teams of freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. The Greyhounds would sweep the singles action with Fein winning in straight sets at first singles and Swan victorious in straight sets at second singles. Kelly needed three sets including a tiebreaker in the first set for a win at third singles while McKinley won in straight sets at fourth singles. Freshmen Alexandra Hay and Anna Meola earned straight sets wins at fifth and sixth singles for the Greyhounds.

Vs. The University of Scranton - Won 9-0 - Box Score

Moravian, the defending Landmark Conference Champion, clinched at least the second seed and a home semifinal match in the 2009 Landmark Conference Tournament with a 9-0 sweep of The University of Scranton in conference action at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds, who remain undefeated in conference action at 4-0, started out by winning all three doubles matches with wins by the tandems of freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles, freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola at second doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. Moravian won all six singles matches including straight sets wins from Fein at first singles, Kelly at third singles, McKinley at fourth singles, freshman Alexandra Hay at fifth singles and Meola at sixth singles.  Swan rallied for a three-set win at second singles after dropping the second set. The Greyhounds will host one of the two Landmark Conference Semifinals on Wednesday, April 29th at Hoffman Courts.  Moravian’s opponent for the match as well as the starting time are still to be determined.

Vs. The University of Scranton - Postponed to April 16th

Moravian's Landmark Conference match versus The University of Scranton for Tuesday, April 14th has been postponed due to the weather. The contest has been rescheduled for Thursday, April 16th at 3:30 p.m. at Hoffman Courts in Bethlehem.

At Goucher College - Won 6-3 - Box Score

The Greyhounds won their second straight match and remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action with a 6-3 road win at Goucher College. Moravian led 2-1 after doubles action with victories by the teams of freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. The Greyhounds then won four of six singles matches in straight sets to clinch the win. Fein won at first singles while Swan captured a win at second singles. Kelly posted a win at third singles while McKinley won at fourth singles.

Vs. Philadelphia University - Won 7-2 - Box Score

Moravian posted a 7-2 non-conference win over NCAA Division II Philadelphia University at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds led the Rams, who had already qualified for the NCAA Division II Championship Tournament, 2-1, after doubles play with victories from the teams of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein at first doubles and senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. Moravian won five of the six singles matches to clinch the victory.  Fein won in straight sets at first singles while Kelly won at third singles and McKinley at fourth singles, both in straight sets.  Freshman Alexandra Hay won in two sets at fifth singles while freshman Anna Meola had a straight sets win at sixth singles.

At Dickinson College - Lost 6-2 - Box Score

Dickinson College posted a 6-2 victory over visiting Moravian in non-conference action. The Red Devils led 2-1 after doubles action with Moravian earning a point with a victory at first doubles from freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan. Moravian would get just one win in the five completed matches with sophomore Kerry McKinley winning in three sets at fourth singles.  Fein’s first singles match ended in no result as the contest was headed to a third set when rain began and forced the end of the match.

At Susquehanna University - Won 8-1 - Box Score

The Greyhounds remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action as the defending champions earn an 8-1 win at Susquehanna University in a match that started an hour late due to a delay by Moravian while travelling to Selinsgrove. The Greyhounds led 3-0 after doubles action with wins from the tandem of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein at first doubles, the duo of freshmen Melissa Emery and Alexandra Hay at second doubles, and the team of senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. In singles action, Moravian won the top five spots with straight sets wins by Fein, Swan, Kelly, McKinley and Hay.

Vs. The Catholic University of America - Won 7-2 - Box Score

Moravian won its first match of the spring, and the defending champions began the 2009 Landmark Conference season with a 7-2 victory over The Catholic University of America at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action after an 8-3 win by freshmen Melissa Emery and Alexandra Hay at second doubles and an 8-0 win from senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at third doubles. Moravian then captured five of the six singles matches with Hay, McKinley, freshmen Jami Fein and Brianna Kavanaugh and senior Dyana Swan all earning straight sets wins.

At Wilkes University - Lost 5-4 - Box Score

The Greyhounds dropped their second straight match to open the spring season, falling to Wilkes University, 5-4, in non-conference action. The Colonels had a 2-1 lead after doubles action with Moravian earning a point from an 8-6 victory by freshman Jami Fein and senior Dyana Swan at first doubles. Fein was the first to finish in singles action, winning at first singles to tie the match at 2-2. Wilkes would win the next three singles matches that completed to earn the team victory. Freshmen Alexandra Hay and Anna Meola each won their singles matches in three sets at fifth and sixth singles, respectively, to close out the match.

At Salisbury University - Lost 7-2 - Box Score

Moravian returned to action for the spring portion of its season with a 7-2 loss at regionally-ranked Salisbury University in non-conference action. The Sea Gulls swept all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead.  Moravian’s two points would come in singles action with a straight sets win from freshman Jami Fein at first singles and a three-set victory by sophomore Kerry McKinley at fourth singles.

At Goucher College Invitational - Individuals Only - Box Score

The Greyhounds closed out the fall portion of their schedule by competing at the Goucher College Invitational. There were no team scores kept, and the tournament involved four singles flights and two doubles flights. In singles action, Moravian freshman Jami Fein captured the championship of the first singles flight with three straight sets wins. Senior MaryKate Kelly won her first two matches in the second singles flight in straight sets before falling to Kelly Williams from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey in the finals in a three-set match that had a tiebreaker in the second set. Sophomore Kerry McKinley dropped her first match in the third singles flight before rebounding to win two matches and finish in fifth place while freshman Alexandra Hay won her first match, suffered a loss in the semifinals and then won the third place match in the fourth singles flight.

In doubles action, the Moravian tandem of freshman Melissa Emery and Anna Meola won their first two matches in the first double flight before falling to Becky Cuddahee and Monie Cuddahee from Frostburg State University in a three-set match in the finals. Freshmen Brianna Kavanaugh and Alyssa Saputo saw their first action of the year for the Greyhounds in the second doubles flight. The duo dropped their first match and won a consolation semifinal before finishing in sixth place with another loss in the consolation bracket.

Vs. East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania - Won 5-3 - Box Score

Moravian snapped its two-match losing streak with a 5-3 non-conference victory over NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action with wins by the duos of senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley at second doubles and freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola at third doubles. Moravian's first doubles squad of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein fell by an 8-6 score. The Warriors would capture two of the first three singles matches to finish to tie the match at 3-3. Emery won in straight sets at sixth singles while Kelly fell in three sets at third singles after winning the first set. Swan fell in straight sets. However, the Greyhounds would pick up wins by McKinley at fourth singles in straight sets and from freshman Alexandra Hay at fifth singles in a three-set contest to earn the team victory. The first singles match between Fein and East Stroudsburg's Katie D'Ambrosia was called by darkness in the second set. Fein had won the first set but trailed 6-5 when it became to dark for either player to see the ball.

Vs. Messiah College - Postponed to April 8, 2009

The Greyhounds non-conference match with Messiah College at Hoffman Courts has been postponed due to the weather. The contest has been rescheduled for the spring season on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Bethlehem at 4:00 p.m.

At Muhlenberg College - Lost 7-2 - Box Score

Moravian dropped its second straight match, falling to rival Muhlenberg College, 7-2, in a non-conference match. The Greyhounds trailed 3-0 after the doubles matches were competed. Moravian's lone points came in singles actions in a pair of three-set wins by sophomores Kerry McKinley and Elizabeth Endy at fourth and sixth singles.

At Hunter College - Lost 5-4 - Box Score

The Greyhounds dropped their first match of the season, falling to Hunter College, 5-4, in non-conference action at Roosevelt Park on Rossevelt Island in New York City. Moravian trailed 2-1 after the doubles action with a victory by the team of freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola. Senior MaryKate Kelly and Sophomore Kerry McKinley dropped a 9-8 (7-4) decision in doubles action. The Greyhounds would win three singles matches with McKinley, sophomore Elizabeth Endy and freshman Alexandra Hay all capturing straight sets victories. Freshman Jami Fein fell in three sets including a tiebreaker in singles action for Moravian.

Vs. DeSales University - Won 7-2 - Box Score

Moravian remained undefeated on the season with a 7-2 victory over local rival DeSales University in a non-conference match at Hoffman Courts in a contest between a pair of previously unbeaten squads. The Greyhounds jumped out to a 2-1 lead after doubles action with 8-0 victories by the duos of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein and freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola. Moravian then won five of the six singles matches in straight sets with victories by Fein, senior MaryKate Kelly, sophomores Elizabeth Endy and Kerry McKinley and freshman Alexandra Hay.

At Hunter College - Postponed to September 20th

The Greyhounds non-conference match at Hunter College for Saturday, September 13th has been postponed. The match has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Roosevelt Park outside of Manhattan.

Vs. Cabrini College in Moravian College Four-Team Invitational - Won 6-3 - Box Score

Moravian won its second match of the season, defeating Cabrini College, 6-3, in the winner's match at the Moravian Four-Team Invitational played at the Lewis Tennis Center on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. The Cavaliers had a 2-1 lead after the doubles action with the Greyhounds earning just one win, a victory by the first doubles team of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein. However, Moravian would win five of the six singles contests to earn the victory. Fein, Swan, senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley each had straight sets wins in singles action while freshman Alexandra Hay captured a three-set victory.

Vs. Ramapo College of New Jersey in Moravian College Four-Team Invitational - Won 7-2 - Box Score

The Greyhounds began the 2008-09 season with a 7-2 victory over Ramapo College of New Jersey in the first round of the Moravian Four-Team Invitational played at the Lewis Tennis Center on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University. Moravian swept the doubles action to take a 3-0 lead behind wins from the teams of senior Dyana Swan and freshman Jami Fein, senior MaryKate Kelly and sophomore Kerry McKinley and freshmen Melissa Emery and Anna Meola. The Greyhounds then won four of the six singles matches for the victory with Fein, Kelly, McKinley and freshman Alexandra Hay all winning in straight sets.

Hosts Moravian College Four-Team Invitational - Postponed to 9/7

The Moravian College women's tennis squad was scheduled to begin its 2008-09 season on Saturday, September 6th by hosting the Moravian Four-Team Invitational with Bryn Mawr College, Cabrini College and Ramapo College fo New Jersey at the Lehigh University Goodman Campus. However, due to the weather forecast, the tournament has been postponed until Sunday, September 7th. Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m.
