At Drew University in 2010 Landmark Conference Champtionship - Lost 5-2 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss to top seed Drew University in the championship match of the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament Saturday.
The Greyhounds, who were the two-time defending conference champions, fell behind, 3-0, after doubles. Moravian's best doubles match came at second doubles where sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured at right, fell 9-8 (7-5).
In singles action, Ott picked up a straight sets win at second singles while sophomore Brianna Kavanagh had a straight sets victory at sixth singles before Drew won the two matches it needed for the championship.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team earned its 15th straight trip to the conference championship match as the third seeded Greyhounds defeated second seeded The University of Scranton, 5-3, in the Landmark Conference Semifinals Tuesday at Birchwood Tennis & Fitness Club.
The Greyhounds will now play in the 2010 Landmark Conference Championship match on Saturday, May 8th against at top seeded Drew University; an 8-1 winner over Susquehanna University in Tuesday’s other semifinal, at a time to be determined. Today’s match at Scranton had been scheduled to be outside but was moved indoors due to weather.
The two-time defending Landmark Conference Champions took a 2-1 lead in doubles action. Sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured at top left, posted an 8-1 win at second doubles for a 1-0 lead while junior Elizabeth Endy and freshman Alex Van Buskirk had an 8-5 win at third doubles for a 2-0 advantage. The first doubles match went to a tiebreaker with sophomore Jami Fein and junior Kerry McKinley dropping a 9-8 (11-9) decision to Daniell Wylie and Deirdre Wylie.
Moravian would then win three of four singles matches to gain the five team points needed for the victory. Ott finished first with a 6-0, 6-3 win at second singles while Fein, pictured at left, gave the Greyhounds four points with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at first singles. After a win by Scranton’s Kirsten Wentworth over Van Buskirk at fourth singles, Moravian sophomore Brianna Kavanagh clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at sixth singles. McKinley's singles match was unfinished and in at third set tiebreaker at third singles while Meola lost by default.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team dropped its final match of the 2009-10 regular season, falling to Drew University, 7-2, in Landmark Conference action at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Greyhounds fall to the third seed in the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament and will travel to The University of Scranton on Tuesday, May 4th for a semifinal match.
The Rangers had a 2-1 lead after doubles action with Moravian's only win coming from junior Elizabeth Endy, pictured at right, and freshman Alex Van Buskirk at third doubles with an 8-5 win.

Vs. Ursinus College - Won 5-4 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team won its final non-conference match of the 2009-10 regular season with a 5-4 win over Ursinus College at Hoffman Courts Wednesday afternoon.
The Bears had a 2-1 lead after doubles action with Moravian's only win coming from sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured at right, at second doubles by an 8-3 score.
The Greyhounds would come back and win four of the six singles matches to earn the win. Sophomore Jami Fein posted a straight sets win at first singles for Moravian while Ott won in straight sets at second singles. Meola won in two sets in her fourth singles match while sophomore Brianna Kavanagh had a straight sets victory at sixth singles for the Greyhounds. Junior Kerry McKinley won her first second at third singles and had leads in a pair of tiebreakers before falling in three sets.
Vs. Goucher College - Won 8-1 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team clinched its 16th straight postseason appearance with an 8-1 Landmark Conference victory over Goucher College Saturday at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds will find out after next weekend's matches if the team will be at home or on the road for the Landmark Conference Semifinals on Tuesday, May 4th.
Moravian swept the doubles action to take a 3-0 lead in the contest. Sophomore Jami Fein, pictured at right, and junior Kerry McKinley had an 8-5 win at first doubles while sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Chelsea Ott won 8-0 at second doubles. Junior Elizabeth Endy and freshman Alex Van Buskirk won 8-1 at third doubles.
The Greyhounds would then win five of the six singles contests in straight sets to earn the victory, their tenth of the season. Fein earned a win at first singles while Ott posted a victory at second singles. Meola had a win in fourth singles while Van Buskirk won at fifth singles in just her second singles match of the year. At The University of Scranton - Lost 5-4 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team suffered its first-ever loss to a Landmark Conference opponent, falling to The University of Scranton, 5-4, Tuesday in a match that lasted five and a half hours. The Greyhounds had won their first 19 matches in Landmark Conference play, 15 in the regular season and four postseason matches including both Landmark Conference Championships.
Scranton held a 2-1 lead after doubles action with wins at first and third doubles, including a tiebreaker at third doubles. Moravian's long victory was at second doubles by sophomore Anna Meola, pictured at right, and freshman Chelsea Ott.
The teams split the singles matches 3-3 with four of the six contests going to three sets. Junior Jami Fein won a three-set match for Moravian at first singles. Ott had a straight sets at second singles while Meola had a straight sets win at fifth singles. All three wins by the Royals went to three sets after Moravian had won the first set in each match. The deciding match at fourth singles between Greyhound junior Elizabeth Endy and Scranton's Kristen Wentworth lasted nearly four hours and ending 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to four straight matches and remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action, defeating Susquehanna University, 8-1, at Hoffman Courts Saturday afternoon.
Moravian swept the doubles matches with the team of junior Kerry McKinley and sophomore Jami Fein winning at first doubles. Sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured at right, won a tiebreaker at second doubles for the Greyhounds while freshmen Stephanie Cox and Alex Van Buskirk were victorious at third doubles.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team extended its winning streak to three straight matches, defeating Wilkes University, 5-4, in a non-conference battle between regionally-ranked teams Monday afternoon at Hoffman Courts. The Greyhounds entered the match ranked 18th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic South while the Colonels were ranked 12th.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team remained undefeated in Landmark Conference action, defeating Juniata College, 7-2, Saturday afternoon in its second straight road conference match.
The Greyhounds swept the doubles action to take a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Jami Fein, pictured at right, and junior Kerry McKinley, had an 8-1 win at first doubles while sophomore Anna Meola and junior Elizabeth Endy won 8-3 at second doubles. Freshmen Stephanie Cox and Alex Van Buskirk had an 8-3 victory at third doubles.
Moravian won four of the sixth singles matches with Fein capturing a straight sets win at first singles, McKinley winning in straight sets at seconds singles, and Meola taking a straight sets victory in fifth singles. Sophomore Brianna Kavanagh earned a straight sets win at sixth signles while Cox fell in three sets at third singles.
At The Catholic University of America - Won 8-1 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team began the 2010 Landmark Conference season with an 8-1 victory at The Catholic University of America Saturday afternoon. The win was Moravian's first of the spring season.
The Greyhounds won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Junior Kerry McKinley, pictured at right, and sophomore Jami Fein had an 8-6 win at first doubles while sophomore Anna Meola and freshman Cheslea Ott won 8-0 at second doubles. Moravian's duo of sophomore Brianna Kavanagh and freshman Stephanie Cox fell at third doubles, 8-3.

Vs. Muhlenberg College - Lost 5-3 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team opened its 2010 spring home season with a 5-3 non-conference loss to rival Muhlenberg College.
Muhlenberg swept the doubles action with 8-6 wins at first and third doubles and a 9-8 (7-5) win at second doubles. The Greyhounds had four-game leads in both first and second doubles for dropping the matches.
Moravian won three of the five singles matches that were completed before darkness set in. Sophomore Jami Fein, pictured at right, won 6-3, 6-3 at second singles while sophomore Anna Meola posted a 6-4, 6-0 win at fifth singles. Sophomore Brianna Kavanaugh won 6-3, 36-, 1-0 (10-6) at sixth singles. Junior Kerry McKinley did not finish her match at third singles after falling in a tiebreaker in the first set.
Vs. Washington (MD) College in Lewes, DE - Lost 7-2 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team opened its 2010 spring season with a 7-2 loss to regionally-ranked Washington (MD) College Saturday afternoon at the Dave Marshall Tennis Center in Lewes, Delaware.
The Shorewomen opened the match, which was played on just two courts, by sweeping the doubles contests. Moravian would earn victories at second singles where freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured at right, had a 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-6 win and at fifth singles where sophomore Anna Meola had an 8-0 proset win after the match outcome had been decided. Greyhound sophomore Jami Fein forced a third set in her first singles match after winning a second set tiebreaker 12-10; however, Fein ended up dropping the match, 6-2, 6-7 (10-12), 10-6.
At Goucher College Individual Tournament - Second Day Results - Individuals Only - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team completed its 2009 fall season during the second day of the Goucher College Individual Tournament.
Sophomore Jami Fein captured the championship of the first singles draw, defeating Carly Heinz of Goucher College, 6-3, 6-2 in the final. Freshman Chelsea Ott, pictured, won the second singles draw with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Stephanie Cattron of Penn State-Behrend.
In the third singles draw, sophomore Anna Meola won the fifth place match, defeating Addie McDowll from Elizabetthown College, 6-1, 6-1 while classmate Brianna Kavanagh won the fifth place match in the fourth singles flight with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Ashley Kuhns of Frostburg State University.
The freshmen duo of Stephanie Cox and Alex Van Buskirk captured first place in the second doubles draw, defeating Nicole Rodriguez and Janessa DiOrio from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5). Moravian junior Elizabeth Endy was paired with Marina Sterngold from Goucher College in the first doubles draw due to a lack of players. Endy and Sterngold won two matches before falling in the finals to Joan Pupula and Meaghan Lee of Goucher, 6-4, 6-1.
At Goucher College Individual Tournament - First Day Results - Individuals Only
The Moravian College women’s tennis team is competing at the two-day Goucher College Individual Tournament, an invitational made up of four singles flights and two doubles flights.
In the first singles draw, sophomore Jami Fein, pictured, earned a straight sets win, 6-2, 6-2 over Kathleen Wackler of St. Mary's College of Maryland in the opening round, and then she defeated Arica Christman of Penn State-Behrend, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the finals. Fein will battle Carly Heinz of Goucher in the championship match.
Freshman Chelsea Ott has also reached the finals in the second singles draw. Ott opened with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Kelli Williams from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey before sweeping Megan Martin of Frostburg State University, 6-0, 6-0. Ott is scheduled to play Stephanie Cattron of Penn State-Behrend in the final.
In the third singles flight, sophomore Anna Meola dropped a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-2) decision to Jessie Scarpello from Gwynedd-Mercy College in the opening round. Meola bounced back with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sam Baugher of Stevenson University in the consolation bracket. Meola is scheduled to play Addie Maxwell from Goucher College in the fifth place match on Sunday.
Sophomore Brianna Kavanagh suffered a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Karen Hobaugh of Penn State-Behrend in the opening round before bouncing back to defeat Rachel Mullet from Stevenson University, 6-1, 6-3 in the consolation bracket. Kavanagh is scheduled to play Ashley Kuhns of Frostburg State University in the fifth place match.

Sophomore Jami Fein, pictured, began competition in the third round of singles action Saturday against ninth seeded Danika Robison of Skidmore College. Robison knocked Fein out of the tournament by a score of 6-2, 7-5.
Fein and freshman Chelsea Ott were in the consolation bracket for doubles action but lost on a walkover to Brittany Trimble and Delaney Scollan from Skidmore College.

Sophomore Jami Fein, pictured, captured a pair of matches in the first day of competition of the 64-player singles bracket. Fein opened the tournament with a straight sets win over Kelli Williams from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Fein then defeated ninth seeded Paige Aiello from The College of New Jersey. Fein won the first set of the match before Aiello retired. Fein will battle fourth seeded Danika Robison of Skidmore College in the third round on Saturday.
Freshman Chelsea Ott is the other Moravian player competing. Ott captured a straight sets win over Montana Wilson of SUNY New Paltz in the opening round before falling to top seed and defending champion Jackie Shtemberg from The College of New Jersey, 6-3, 7-6.
In doubles action, Fein and Ott lost to Joanie Hilton and Kiara Ocasio from host William Smith, 8-1, in the opening round.
At DeSales University - Won 8-1 - Box Score
The Moravian College women’s tennis team won its second straight match, defeating DeSales University, 8-1, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon. The contest was originally scheduled for September 11th but was postponed due to weather.

The Moravian College women’s tennis team’s non-conference match at DeSales University, originally scheduled for Friday, September 11th has been postponed due to the weather. The match has been rescheduled for Tuesday, September 22nd at 4:00 p.m.
