2005 Review

The 2005 Moravian College women’s cross country team placed sixth in the 2005 Middle Atlantic Conference and finished in 28th place at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional run hosted by Dickinson College at Carlisle High School. Coach Mark Will-Weber is in his nineteen year as head coach.

Senior Lauren Bahnatka (West Chester, PA/Henderson HS) led the Greyhounds in the MAC Championships placing 14th and at the NCAA Mideast-Regional Meet finishing 82nd. Bahnatka’s best time was at the Blue Jay Invitational with a time of 24:09.00, and she earned a place on the All-Conference Second Team with her top 20 finish. Senior Alexis Vergalla (Glen Gardner, NJ/Voorhees HS) placed 23rd at the MAC meet and 121st at the regional race. Her best time was 24:59.00, also at the Blue Jay Invitational.

Sophomore Krystyn Fenon (Palmerton, PA/Lehighton HS) took 39th place at the MAC Championships. Her best time was 24:43.00 at the Blue Jay Invitational. Freshman Naomie Kachel (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) placed 40th overall in the MAC meet and 130th in the regional race. Her best time was 25:21.00 at the Blue Jay Invitational, while classmate Stephanie Miller (Easton, PA/Easton HS) was 51st at the MAC Championships and 203rd at the Mideast-Regional. She recorded a best time of 25:31.00 this season for the Greyhounds.

Also running in the MAC Championships for Moravian were sophomores Katie Pulizzano (Allentown, PA/William Allen HS) placing 66th, Nicole Sirico (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley HS) finishing 74th and Catelyn Savoth (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan HS) coming in 131st. Pulizzano and Sirico also competed in the NCAA Mideast-Regional meet coming in 188th place and 193rd place respectively.

Also running for the Greyhounds are seniors Ellen Hansen (Alburtis, PA/Brandywine Heights HS) and Alicia Hernandez (Jim Thorpe, PA/Jim Thorpe HS), juniors Jennifer Connelly (Manchester, NH/Manchester West HS), Ashley McCuen (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham HS), and Ivy Walker (Aberdeen, MD/Aberdeen HS), sophomore Christina Roccamo (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown HS), and freshman Kelly Williams (Tafton, PA/Wallenpaupack HS).

Moravian had five student-athletes named to 2005 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Fall Academic Honor Roll including Bahnatka, Vergalla, Hernandez, Connelly, and Roccamo.
