Moravian won its final match of the 2007 season, defeating NCAA Division II East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, 8-1, in non-conference action. The Greyhounds will find out on Monday, April 30th after 6:00 p.m. where the team will be competing in the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. In the match against the Warriors, Moravian had a 2-1 lead after doubles with win by the team of senior Courtney Hall and junior Lindsey Hopper. The Greyhound duo of junior Jennel Yelito and sophomore Dyana Swan would win by forfeit. In singles action, Moravian swept all six contests with Yelito, juniors Brittany Popaca and Rebecca Angstadt and sophomore MaryKate Kelly each winning in straight sets. Hall and Swan each needed three sets to earn their victories.

The Greyhounds earned their first win of the spring season and improved to 13-2 overall with a 5-4 victory at rival Muhlenberg College in non-conference action. Moravian led 2-1 after the doubles action with a victory by the team of junior Jennel Yelito and sophomore Dyana Swan and a win by the team of senior Courtney Hall and junior Lindsey Hopper when the Muhlenberg doubles squad they were playing retired. The Greyhounds captured the bottom three singles flights to earn the victory. Junior Rebecca Angstadt won in straight sets at sixth singles while sophomore MaryKate Kelly won at fourth singles. Yelito captured the match for Moravian with a third set tiebreaker win in her fifth singles contest.

At 2006 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament hosted by Drew University & Juniata College at Lehigh University – Second Day Results

The Greyhounds had three individual flight champions at the 2006 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament hosted by Drew University and Juniata College at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus. Junior Brittany Popaca captured the title at third singles, sophomore MaryKate Kelly repeated as the champion at fourth singles and junior Rebecca Angstadt won at sixth singles. Junior Jennel Yelito lost in the finals of the fifth singles bracket while Popaca and Kelly lost in the finals of the second doubles flight. All four singles players and the doubles team were the top seed in the tournament.

Popaca, who won the sixth singles title back in 2004, defeated Alex Holzman of Drew University, 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals before defeating second seeded Emily Swarr of Elizabethtown College, 7-6 (2), 0-6, 10-2 in the championship match. Kelly topped fourth-seeded Alica Yu in the semifinals of the fourth singles bracket, 6-2, 6-3 and then defeated third seeded Sara Ryder from Wilkes University, 6-1, 6-1 in the finals. Angstadt earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory over fourth seeded Nickie Brackbill from DeSales University, 6-3, 6-0 before defeating second seeded Jan White of Lebanon Valley College, in three sets, 5-7, 7-5, 10-4, to win the sixth singles championship. Yelito topped Emma Dunn of Susquehanna University, 7-5, 6-3, in the semifinals of the fifth singles bracket before falling to second seeded Heather Lander of Elizabethton College, 6-0, 6-3 in the championship match.

In doubles action, Popaca and Kelly defeated third seeded Alison McDonald and Kristin Witt from Wilkes University, 8-6 in the semifinals before falling to second seeded Swarr and Yu of Elizabethtown College, 8-6. In the third doubles flight, sophomores Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan, the tournament's top seed, fell to Lander and Jessica Russell of Elizabethtown College in the semifinals, 8-2.

Moravian had four of six individuals move past the quarterfinals and two of three doubles teams move past the quarterfinals as well at the 2006 Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Individual Tournament being hosted by Drew University and Juniata College at Lehigh University's Goodman Campus. Four Greyhounds were seeded first in the tournament and received byes in the first round of the singles tournament. In other first round action, senior Margo Kokolus defeated Danielle Red, 6-3, 6-4, in the first singles flight while sophomore Dyana Swan lost to Emma Smith of Elizabethtown College, 6-0, 6-1. Kokolus was knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals, falling to third seeded Xiaogiao Zhang from Wilkes University, 6-4, 6-4.

In other quarterfinal action, third singles top seed junior Brittany Popaca defeated Kelly Moll of Lebanon Valley College, 6-0, 6-0 while fourth singles number one seed sophomore MaryKate Kelly, the defending champion at fourth singles, defeated Sarah Costello of The University of Scranton, 6-2, 6-0. Fifth singles top seed junior Jennel Yelito earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Brittany Turnbaugh of King's College in the quarterfinals while sixth singles number one seed junior Rebecca Angstadt defeated Jessica Russell of Elizabethtown College, 7-5, 6-4.

In doubles action, the tandem of Popaca and Kelly were seeded first in the second doubles flight and had a first round by while the duo of Swan and sophomore Kelly Gerbino were the top seed in the third doubles flight and also had a bye in the first round of competition. Kokolus and senior Courtney Hall earned an 8-3 victory of Brittany Reiman and Brittany Guerin of Susquehanna University in the first round of the first double flight before being knocked out of the tournament by fourth seeded Meredith Rempala and Leah Bradshaw from Messiah College, 8-6, in the quarterfinals. Popaca and Kelly defeated Sadie Sumner and Annie Gotchel of Messiah College, 8-2, in the quarterfinals while Gerbino and Sawn topped Kelly Drinkard and Aimee Snyder of Lycoming College, 8-1.

The Greyhounds won their final non-conference match of the fall season, defeating Cabrini College, 5-4. The Cavaliers are the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference Champions and have qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament in the spring. Moravian managed just one victory in doubles from the team of sophomores Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. Heading into singles, trailing 2-1, the Greyhounds won third through sixth singles in prosets for the victory. Moravian's wins were by Gerbino, juniors MaryKate Kelly, Rebecca Angstadt and Lindsey Hopper. All six singles matches had prosets played due to darkness.

At Elizabethtown College in 2006 Commonwealth Conference Team Tournament Championship – Won 5-4 - match completed on October 24th

Updated October 24th - Moravian has clinched its first-ever berth in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis National Championship Tournament with a 5-4 victory over Elizabethtown College in the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championship match. The title is Moravian's 8th conference championship in 13 straight appearance in the conference championship contest and first in three attempts versus Elizabethtown College over the last three years. The contest between the second seeded Greyhounds and top seeded Blue Jays began on October 15th and lasted five hours before darkness halted the sixth singles match.

When the match was suspended, the score was 4-4 overall and at sixth singles, Moravian junior Rebecca Angstadt led Elizabethtown senior Heather Lander by one set, 6-4, and Angstadt was leading the tiebreaker in the second set, 5-3. When play resumed on October 24th, Lander broke Angstadt's serve to cut the lead to 5-4. After several long rallies, Angstadt led, 6-5, before serving up an ace to clinch the match and Moravian's trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Junior Brittany Popaca was named the Commonwealth Conference's Most Valuable Player after the match.

Original Results from October 15th - Second seeded Moravian and top seed Elizabethtown College have had their 2006 Commonwealth Conference Championship match suspended due to darkness with the score tied at 4-4. The sixth singles match between Moravian junior Rebecca Angstadt and Elizabethtown senior Heather Lander is currently in the second set, tied at 6-6. Angstadt, who won the first set, 6-4, leads the tiebreaker, 5-3. The winner of the match will receive an automatic berth into the 2007 NCAA Division III National Championships held next May at the University of Mary Washington (VA). The match will be completed on Tuesday, October 24th at Elizabethtown College beginning at 2:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action with victories by the score of 8-6 from the teams of junior Brittany Popaca and sophomore MaryKate Kelly and sophomores Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. Elizabethtown would win the first three singles matches to finish, taking a 4-2 lead. However, Kelly and Popaca would win three-set contests to tie the match at 4-4. Popaca's third singles match took over three hours to play, and Popaca had to win a pair of tiebreakers for the win.

This is Moravian’s 13th straight appearance in the conference championship match, and the Greyhounds have won seven titles. Moravian and Elizabethtown have played the last two seasons for the Commonwealth Conference championship with the Blue Jays winning 5-4 in 2004 and 8-1 last year. However, this is the first time the winner of the conference championship match will receive an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.

The Greyhounds advanced to the conference championship match for the 13th straight season with a 9-0 sweep of third seeded Messiah College in the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Team Semifinals hosted by Elizabethtown College. The second seeded Greyhounds will face top seed Elizabethtown on Sunday in the championship match at 2:00 p.m. It will be the third straight season, Moravian and the Blue Jays have played for the conference title with Elizabethtown winning the last two season. Against Messiah, the Greyhounds jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles action with victories by the teams of seniors Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus, junior Brittany Popaca and sophomore MaryKate Kelly, and sophomores Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. Moravian then swept all six singles matches with straight set victories by Kokolus, Swan, Popaca, Kelly and juniors Jennel Yelito and Rebecca Angstadt.

The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action with wins by the teams of junior Brittany Popaca and sophomore MaryKate Kelly and the sophomore duo of Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. Moravian would win four singles matches for the victory with straight sets wins by Kelly and juniors Rebecca Angstadt and Jennel Yelito. Popaca won a proset at third singles for her win while the Greyhounds lost the top two singles matches, which were shortened to prosets due to darkness.

The Greyhounds clinched their 13th consecutive postseason appearance with a 7-2 victory at Juniata College in a Commonwealth Conference match that started indoors but finished indoors in Altoona. Moravian won two of three doubles contests to start the match with victories by the teams of junior Brittany Popaca and sophomore MaryKate Kelly and the duo of sophomores Dyana Swan and Kelly Gerbino. The Greyhounds won five of six singles matches with Popaca, Kelly and junior Rebecca Angstadt winning in straight sets. Swan earned a victory in three sets while senior Margo Kokolus won a proset to earn a victory at first singles.

The Greyhounds led 2-1 after doubles action with a win by the team of seniors Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus in a tiebreaker and a victory by the duo of sophomores Kelly Gerbino and Dyana Swan. Moravian earned four more wins in singles to secure the victory. The Greyhounds had straight sets wins by Swan, juniors Rebecca Angstadt and Jennel Yelito and sophomore MaryKate Kelly.

At Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington – Individuals Only - First Day Results

Moravian took five players to the 2006 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III Southeast Regional hosted by the University of Mary Washington. All five Greyhounds competed in the championship bracket, but were knocked out by the end of the first day. Senior Margo Kokolus earned a first round win before falling in the round of 32 to sixth seeded Mona Iyer. Senior Courtney Hall, juniors Brittany Popaca and Jennel Yelito and sophomore MaryKate Kelly each lost two singles matches with each player falling to a seeded player either in the round of 64 or the first round of the consolation bracket. Yelito would win one set in her first round match against Catherine Martinez of Elizabethtown College. In doubles action, the teams of Hall and Kokolus and Popaca and Kelly each suffered first round losses to seeded opponents before falling in the first round of the consolation bracket.

The Greyhounds played their first non-conference match of the season and knocked off previously undefeated NCAA Division II Philadelphia University, 5-4, at Hoffman Courts. Moravian trailed 2-1 after doubles action with just the team of junior Brittany Popaca and sophomore MaryKate Kelly picking up a point. However, the Greyhounds would win four of six singles matches for the win. Popaca, junior Jennel Yelito, junior Rebecca Angstadt and sophomore Dyana Swan all had straight sets singles victories. Angstadt needed a tiebreaker in her second set at sixth singles to win her match individually and the overall match for the Greyhounds in the last of the singles contests to finish in the dark.

At Elizabethtown College – Lost 6-3

The Greyhounds dropped their first match of the season, falling to Elizabethtown College, 6-3, in Commonwealth Conference action. The match started over an hour late to let the courts dry from Friday's rain, and it ended up being finished indoors due to more rain. The Blue Jays led 2-1 after doubles action with Moravian's lone point coming from a win at first doubles by seniors Courtney Hall and Margo Kokolus. In singles action, the Greyhounds received just two more points on a three-set win by Kokolus and a straight sets triumph by sophomore MaryKate Kelly. Junior Brittany Popaca lost her singles match in three sets.
