2006-07 Indoor Season Review

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team brought home the 2007 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championship for the 11th time in 12 years. The championship, which was held by Susquehanna University, were won with a team score of 160 points, while the second place Crusaders scored 89 points.

Head coach Doug Pollard was named the 2007 MAC Women’s Indoor Coach of the Year, while freshman Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) was named the Rookie of the Year. Pollard was also named the Mideast Region Coach of the Year while freshman Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) earned Mideast Region Field Athlete of the Year honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Posimo captured the award after winning the long jump with a leap of 5.22 meters (17 feet, 1 1/2 inches) and triple jump with a distance of 10.65 meters (34 feet, 11 1/4 inches), placing second in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 8.65 seconds, third in the high jump after clearing 1.52 meters (four feet, 11 3/4 inches) and fifth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.72 seconds

Other Champions included freshman Dana Haslett (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge HS), who won the 200-meter dash with an MAC meet record time of 25.99 seconds. Heim won the pole vault with an MAC meet record and NCAA Division III automatic qualifying height of 3.81 meters (12 feet, six inches). Heim went on to the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and placed 12th with a height of 3.55 meters (11 feet, 7 3/4 inches). Senior Erin Recker (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua HS) won the 55-meter dash four the fourth straight year in a time of 7.34 seconds.

Moravian also had two relay teams finish first with the 4x200-meter relay squad of Recker, Haslett, senior Amy Reehil (Roselle, NJ/Roselle Catholic HS) and freshman Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS) taking the top spot in 1:46.43 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Heim, Haslett, Reehil and freshman Kaitlyn Boyer (Oley, PA/Oley Valley HS) finishing first in a time of 4:13.37. Sophomore Christine Kihm (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown HS) vaulted for 3.70 meters (12 feet, 1 3/4 inches), which is a provisionally qualified NCAA Division III Championship height. Kihm competed at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships where she tied for ninth, clearing a height of 3.55 meters (11 feet, 7 3/4 inches) before failing to clear the next height.

The Greyhounds other relay teams were seniors Jennifer Connolly (Weare, NH/Manchester West HS) and Suzanne Tamlyn (Wappingers Falls, NY/Wallkill HS) and sophomores Naomie Kachel (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin HS) and Kelly Williams (Tafton, PA/Wallenpaupack HS), who placed sixth in the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 11:02.68 and the distance medley relay squad of Connolly, Tamlyn, Williams and freshman Katelyn Chando (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) finishing seventh in 13:45.43. In the distance races sophomore Kayla Teeling (Milford, NJ/Phillipsburg HS) placed seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:38.54 while junior Katie Pullizano (Allentown, PA/William Allen HS) took 15th in the 5,000-meter run in 20:25.65.

In the throwing events, freshman Rebeka Woolley (Point Pleasant, NJ/Point Pleasant Boro HS) placed seventh in the shot put with a toss of 10.46 meters (34 feet, four inches) while senior Tammy Balliet (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) was tenth at 9.50 meters (31 feet, two inches). Balliet placed fifth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.12 meters (39 feet, 9 1/4 inches) while freshman Flora Robertson (Hawley, PA/East Stroudsburg North HS) was seventh at 11.73 meters (38 feet, six inches).

Recker, Reehill, Balliet, Tamlyn, Connolly, Kachel, Teeling, and Williams were all named to the Middle Atlantic States Collegiate Athletic Corporation Winter Academic Honor Roll.
