At 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University – Tied for 19th of 83 in Final Results           Moravian Individual Results             Meet Site

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team had two competitors on the second day of the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University earn a national title with junior Abigail Schaffer capturing the pole vault for the second time this season after winning the indoor championship back in March.

Schaffer, pictured at right, was seeded second in the event and passed on the first five heights before clearing her first attempt at 3.84 meters. Schaffer also needed just one attempt at 3.94 meters and the winning height of 4.14 meters (13 feet, seven inches), breaking Anna Heim '10 meet record set last spring. Schaffer and Catherine Street from Linfield College both made three attempts at 4.24 meters (13 feet, 11 inches) but neither was able to clear the bar. Schaffer captured the title over Street by needing just one vault at 4.14 meters and only missing once at 4.04 meters while Street missed once at 4.14 and twice at 4.04. Karin Fisher from Massachusetts Institute of Technology was third in the event at 4.04 meters.

Schaffer joins Heim, senior Eric Woodruff, Ozzie Brown, Jeff Cullingford and Christina Scherwin with two national championships, and her title is Moravian's 17th individual championship and the 16th from the track & field program. Woodruff will be in one final on Saturday, possibly two, as he looks to become the first Moravian student-athlete with three individual national titles.

Schaffer's win earned ten points for the Greyhounds, and the squad finished in a tie for 19th of 83 teams scoring in the meet. See an interview with Schaffer below.

Moravian's other female student-athlete to compete on the second day of the National Championships was sophomore Micah Leonard, who placed 17th of 24 student-athletes in the triple jump with a distance of 11.26 meters (36 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team is at the 2011 NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. Junior Abigail Schaffer was scheduled to compete in the pole vault on Thursday on the opening day of the meet; however, due to inclement weather, the women's pole vault has been rescheduled for Friday, May 27th at 11:00 a.m.

Host 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships – Tied for 15th of 56     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team finished tied for 15th of 56 teams scoring a point at the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the Greyhounds at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. Moravian scored 17 points to tie with Springfield College while Ithaca College won the meet with 80.5 points. Massachusetts Institute of Technology was the runner-up at 77.5 points while Tufts University placed third with 54 points.

Senior Alyssa Wert, pictured at right, scored two points for Moravian on the second day of competition with a seventh place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.26 seconds. The Greyhounds other three points were scored by sophomore Micah Leonard in the long jump with an sixth place leap of 5.28 meters (17 feet, four inches).

Junior Kristina Ruggiero placed ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:17.25 while junior Cadee Rockwell was ninth in the 5,000-meter run in 18:03.83 and 18th in the 1,500-meter run in 4:50.82. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of Wert, Leonard, sophomore Brittney Harvey and junior Lisa Williamson placed ninth in 49.16 seconds.

Junior Brittany Moses finished tenth in the discus with a toss of 35.68 meters (117 feet, one inch) while Harvey took 15th in the long jump with a leap of 4.62 meters (15 feet, two inches).

Host 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships – 7th of 29 after 1st Day     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team is in seventh place of 29 teams scoring points after the first day of the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track Thursday. The Greyhounds have 12 points while Ithaca College is in first place with 21 points. The women were able to get all six events in despite a two-hour weather delay.

The Greyhounds had one individual champion with junior Abigail Schaffer, pictured at right, capturing the pole vault at an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying height of 4.06 meters (13 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Junior Lauren Molchan was tied for 12th in the event at 3.11 meters (ten feet, 2 1/2 inches).

Moravian's other two points came on a seventh place finish by sophomore Micah Leonard in the triple jump with a distance of 11.13 meters (36 feet, 6 1/4 inches).

In other events, senior Kaleen Holden took 17th in the javelin with a toss of 34.47 meters (113 feet, one inch) while junior Brittany Moses was 18th in the hammer throw with a distance of 41.12 meters (134 feet, 11 inches). Senior Alyssa Wert was 11th in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds.

At Tuppany Twilight Last Chance Meet at Swarthmore College – No Team Scores     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team had eight student-athletes compete at the non-scoring Tuppany Twilight Last Chance Meet hosted by Swarthmore College in the team's final tune-up to the 2011 ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships.

Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at right, won the triple jump with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 11.38 meters (37 feet, four inches), and she was second in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.52 meters (18 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Junior Cadee Rockwell also posted and NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 36:54.97 in the 10,000-meter run.

Junior Lauren Molchan was fifth in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.26 meters (ten feet, 8 1/4 inches) while junior Brittany Moses placed eighth in the discus with a toss of 34.04 meters (111 feet, eight inches). Sophomore Brittney Harvey was sixth in the long jump at 5.13 meters (16 feet, ten inches), and she placed ninth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.34 seconds. Junior Lisa Williamson took eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.32 seconds while junior Kristina Ruggiero was 28th in the 800-meter run in 2:20.87.

At Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships at Juniata College – 1st of 6     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team captured its fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship and 17th outdoor conference championship overall at the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships hosted by Juniata College. The Greyhounds had a team score of 252 points while Susquehanna University was second with 197 points and the host Eagles were third with 161 points.

Moravian had six individual and one relay champion on the second day of the meet, and the Greyhounds also had five ECAC qualifiers and set on Landmark Conference Meet Record. Junior Brittany Moses, pictured at right, was named the Field Athlete of the Year after winning her second title of the meet Sunday, capturing the shot put with a toss of 11.40 meters (37 feet, five inches). Moses was also the runner-up in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.15 meters (141 feet, seven inches). Sophomore Micah Leonard also won her second title on the second day of competition, capturing the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.18 meters (36 feet, 8 1/4 inches).

On the track, junior Cadee Rockwell captured the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying and Landmark Conference Meet record time of 18:17.23 while junior Kristina Ruggiero won the 800-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:17.74. Senior Alyssa Wert, pictured at left, placed first in the 100-meter dash in 13.00 seconds, and she captured the 200-meter dash in 26.67 seconds. Wert also ran on Moravian's winning 4x100-meter relay team with Leonard and sophomores Brittney Harvey and Nokukhanya Langa that had an ECAC qualifying time of 49.86 seconds.

Junior Lisa Williamson took third in the 100-meter dash in 13.31 seconds while Harvey was fourth in 13.38 seconds. Junior Abigail Schaffer placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in a time of 13.41 seconds while Leonard placed sixth in 13.46 seconds. Williamson was also the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 26.91 seconds, and she was third in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.32. Harvey took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.85 seconds and was followed by Schaffer in sixth at 28.12 and Leonard in seventh with a time of 28.16. Langa took seventh in the 400-meter dash in 1:05.23.

Senior Shannon McEvoy, pictured at right, was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdles with an ECAC qualifying time of 15.85 seconds while Langa finished third in 16.58 seconds. Langa also placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:12.39. Wert, Williamson, Ruggiero and Harvey ran the 4x400-meter relay and finished fifth in 4:20.53. Rockwell was the runner-up in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:19.57 while sophomore Emma Pacheco placed ninth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 13:30.34.

In other field results, freshman Hilary Reis was third in the high jump, clearing 1.42 meters (four feet, 7 3/4 inches) while sophomore Samantha Sheridan was eighth at 1.37 meters (four feet, six inches). Freshman Esther Lin finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 9.77 meters (32 feet, 3/4 inch) while senior Molly DuVall was ninth in the hammer throw at 35.11 meters (115 feet, two inches).

At Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships at Juniata College – 1st of 6 after 1st Day     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team is in first place of six teams after the first day of competition at the 2011 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships being hosted by Juniata College. The Greyhounds have 84 points after six events while Susquehanna University is second with 62 points. The host Eagles are third with 56 points.

The Greyhounds had the top finisher in each of the four field events on the first day of competition. Junior Abigail Schaffer won the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic, an ECAC Division III qualifying and Landmark Conference Meet Record height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches) while junior Brittany Moses, pictured ar right, captured the discus with an ECAC qualifying and Landmark Conference Meet Record throw of 39.33 meters (129 feet). Senior Kaleen Holden won the javelin throw with an ECAC qualifying toss of 36.83 meters (120 feet, ten inches) while sophomore Micah Leonard won the long jump at 5.17 meters (16 feet, 11 1/2 inches).

Senior Shannon McEvoy was the runner-up in the long jump at 5.15 meters (16 feet, 10 3/4 inches) while sophomore Brittney Harvey was third at 5.06 meters (16 feet, 7 1/4 inches) and freshman Hilary Reis took seventh at 4.74 meters (15 feet, 6 3/4 inches). Freshman Esther lin was third in the discus with a toss of 35.19 meters (115 feet, five inches), and she placed fourth in the javelin with a distance of 32.86 meters (107 feet, ten inches). Senior Molly DuVall was tenth in the discus at 27.20 meters (89 feet, three inches) while freshman Amanda Smilgis was ninth in the javelin at 24.10 meters (79 feet, one inch).

On the track, junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:48.77 while junior Kristina Ruggiero was third in 4:51.82. Junior Megan Hallowell finished eighth in the 10,000-meter run in 42:32.10.

In preliminary races, senior Alyssa Wert had the fastest time in the 100-meter dash in 12.94 seconds to move to the finals on Sunday, and she was second in the 200-meter dash, winning her heat in 26.47 seconds to reach the championship race. Junior Lisa Williamson was second in the 100-meter dash in 13.04 seconds, fourth in the 200-meter dash in 26.56 seconds and second in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.43 to advance to the finals in all three races while Harvey was third in the 100-meter dash in 13.05 second and third in the 200-meter dash in 26.72 seconds. Leonard took fifth in the 100-meter dash in 13.28 seconds, and she was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 27.02 seconds while Schaffer finished seventh in the 100-meter dash in 13.49 seconds and seventh in the 200-meter dash in 27.62 seconds to make the finals. Sophomore Nokukhanya Langa was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:02.68 to advance to the championship race, and she was third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.37 seconds. McEvoy was the runner-up in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries in an ECAC qualifying time of 16.31 seconds, winning her heat.

At 117th Penn Relays – No Team Score     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team had two student-athletes compete on the opening day of the 117th Penn Relays Carnival hosted by The University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field.

Junior Abigail Schaffer placed sixth of nine athletes in the College Women's Pole Vault Championship, clearing an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying height of 4.05 meters (13 feet, 3 1/2 inches). Schaffer was the only non-NCAA Division I athlete in the field, and she made three attempts at a personal best of 4.15 meters (13 feet, 7 1/4 inhes) but was unable to clear the height. Tina Sutej from The University of Arkansas placed first in a Penn Relays and Franklin Field record of 4.45 meters (14 feet, 7 1/4 inches).

Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, placed 21st of 30 runners in the College Women's 10,000-meter Championship Run, and she was first of five NCAA Division III competitors in the race with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 36:42.20. Hollie Knight from Auburn University won the race in 34:10.98. the 10,000-meter run was scheduled to be competed at 10:15 p.m. Thursday but due to a weather delay earlier in the day, the race began nearly an hour and a half late.

At Gwynedd-Mercy College Mid-Week Twilight Invitational – 3rd of 11     Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team had its final tune-up to the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Mid-Week Twilight Invitational. The Greyhounds placed third of 11 teams in the meet with a score of 113 points. Haverford College was first with 132 points while Messiah College took second with 129 points.

Moravian had five first place finishers, one NCAA qualifier, four ECAC qualifiers and broke one school record in the meet. Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at right, won the triple jump with a school record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC Division III qualifying distance of 11.80 meters (38 feet, 8 3/4 inches). Leonard also won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.27 meters (17 feet, 3 1/2 inches).

The Greyhounds other first place finishers were junior Cadee Rockwell in the 1,500-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 4:45.03, junior Kristina Ruggiero in the 800-meter run in 2:19.75 and freshman Esther Lin in discus with a toss of 36.16 meters (118 feet, eight inches). Lin also took seventh in the shot put at 10.15 meters (33 feet, 3 3/4 inches) while Ruggiero was fourth in the 1,500-meter run in 4:58.23, and Rockwell placed fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:22.49.

In other top ten track results, sophomore Nokukhanya Langa took second in the 400-meter dash in 1:01.39, and she was third in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC quaifying time of 15.94 seconds and eighth in the 100-meter dash in 13.52 seconds. Senior Alyssa Wert, pictured at left, was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 27.14 seconds, and she was also sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.25. Sophomore Brittney Harvey placed fourth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:03.10 while sophomore Samantha Sheridan was eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.07 seconds. Sophomore Emma Pacheco placed eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 13:47.94.

Junior Lauren Molchan was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing 3.05 meters (ten feet) while freshman Amanda Smilgis was fifth at 2.90 meters (nine feet, 6 1/4 inches). Harvey finished fourth in the long jump at 5.02 meters (16 feet, 5 3/4 inches) while freshman Hilary Reis took nineth in the triple jump at 9.64 meters (31 feet, 7 1/2 inches). Reis was also fifth in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters (four feet, 11 inches) while Sheridan took seventh at a height of 1.45 meters (four feet, nine inches). Smiglis finished seventh in the javelin throw with a toss of 28.27 meters (92 feet, nine inches) while Lin was ninth at 27.73 meters (91 feet).

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team hosted the second day of the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track Sunday, after delaying action from Saturday due to the weather.

The Greyhounds had 12 ECAC qualifiers in the meet, two NCAA qualifiers and two first place finishers. Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 5,000-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 17:40.66. Junior Abigail Schaffer won the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic, ECAC qualifying and meet record height of 4.06 meters (13 feet, 3 3/4 inches) while junior Brittany Moses was the runner-up in the discus with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 41.62 meters (136 feet, six inches).

Senior Alyssa Wert was fifth in the 200-meter dash with an ECAC qualifying time of 26.21 seconds, and she was 12th in the 100-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 12.67 seconds. Wert was part of Moravian's 4x100-meter relay team along with junior Lisa Williamson and sophomores Micah Leonard and Brittney Harvey that placed third in an ECAC qualifying time of 50.60 seconds.

Junior Kristina Ruggiero placed fifth in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:20.03. Sophomore Nokukhanya Langa was 15th in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 15.88 seconds while senior Shannon McEvoy was 18th with an ECAC qualifying time of 16.19 seconds. Ruggerio, Wert, Williamson and Langa helped the Greyhounds to an eighth place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in 4:11.70.

Leonard, pictured at left, was second in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches), and she was third in the long jump at an ECAC qualifying mark of 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10 3/4 inches). Senior Kaleen Holden took fifth in the javelin throw with an ECAC qualyfing mark of 36.31 meters (119 feet, one inch). McEvoy was sixth in the triple jump at 10.30 meters (33 feet, 9 1/2 inches) while sophomore Samantha Sheridan took ninth at 9.70 meters (31 feet, ten inches) and freshman Hilary Reis was tenth at 9.47 meters (31 feet, one inch).

Junior Lauren Molchan finished sixth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 2.95 meters (nine feet, eight inches) while freshman Esther Lin took seventh in the discus with a toss of 37.65 meters (123 feet, six inches).

Host Greyhound Invitational – First Day Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team hosted the first day of the non-scoring Greyhound Invitational at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track Friday evening with the hammer throw and shot put.

Junior Brittney Moses led the Greyhounds in the hammer throw with a toss of 42.83 meters, which placed her sixth. Freshman Esther Lin had Moravian's top throw in the shot put at 10.97 meters to finish tenth.

Host Greyhound Invitational– 2nd Day Postponed to April 17th

The Moravian College outdoor track & field teams has postponed the second day of the Greyhound Invitational from Saturday, April 16th until Sunday, April 17th at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track due to the weather forecast for Saturday. Friday's hammer throw and shot put will be competed as scheduled but the remaining field events and all the track events will now be on Sunday beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team hosted the second day of the non-scoring Coach P. Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The Greyhounds had four individual winners, one relay winner, one NCAA qualifier and seven ECAC qualifiers in the meet.

Junior Abigail Schaffer won the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying and ECAC qualifying height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches) while sophomore Micah Leonard captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Senior Kaleen Holden, pictured at right, won the javelin with an ECAC qualifying mark of 38.60 meters (126 feet, eight inches) while junior Kristina Ruggiero won the 800-meter run in 2:19.55. Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of senior Alyssa Wert, junior Lisa Williamson and sophomore Brittney Harvey won in an ECAC qualifying time of 49.33 seconds.

Sophomore Nokukhanya Langa was seventh in the 100-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 16.06 seconds while senior Shannon McEvoy was eighth with an ECAC qualifying mark of 16.20 meters. Harvey took third in the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds while Wert was seventh in 13.00 seconds and followed by Leonard in eighth at 13.03 and Williamson in ninth at 13.07 seconds. Langa took third in the 400-mrter hurdles in 1:06.59 while McEvoy was eighth in a time of 1:08.94. Williamson finished third in the 200-meter dash in 26.55 seconds while Wert was eighth in 27.06 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Ruggiero, Williamson, Wert and freshman Brigid Walker placed seventh in 4:14.83.

Leonard, pictured at left, also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 1/2 inches) while McEvoy was ninth at 10.19 meters (33 feet, 5 1/4 inches). Harvey was fourth in the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.30 meters (17 feet, 4 3/4 inches) while McEvoy was sixth at 5.08 meters (16 feet, eight inches). Junior Lauren Molchan was tied for fourth in the pole vault at 3.05 meters (ten feet) while freshman Amanda Smilgis tied for seventh at 2.990 meters (nine feet, 6 1/4 inches). Freshman Hilary Reis and Harvey were both tied for tenth in the high jump, clearing 1.45 meters (four feet, nine inches).

In other throwing results, senior Mary King was fifth in the javelin with a toss of 35.39 meters (116 feet, one inch). freshman Esther Lin took ninth in the discus with a toss of 30.69 meters (100 feet, eight inches).

Host Coach P. Open – First Day Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's outdoor track & field team hosted the first day of the non-scoring Coach P. Open at Rocco Calvo Field and Timothy Breidegam Track. The Greyhounds competed in three events in the rain on the first night of the meet.

On the track, junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 10,000-meter run with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 36:39.33. Sophomore Emma Pacheco was third with a time of 42:55.82 while junior Megan Hallowell was fourth in 43:00.57.

Moravian had one thrower compete on the opening night of the meet. Senior Molly DuVall took 13th in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.60 meters (110 feet, three inches), and DuVall was 20th in the shot put with a toss of 8.84 meters (29 feet).

 

 

At Lafayette College 9-Way Meet – 7th of 9    Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's track & field team opened its 2011 outdoor season by placing seventh of nine teams at the Lafayette College 9-Way Meet. The Greyhounds scored 27 points while NCAA Division II Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania won the meet with 157 points.

Moravian had one individual champion with junior Abigail Schaffer winning the pole vault with an ECAC and NCAA Division III provisional qualifying height of 3.70 meters (12 feet, 1 1/2 inches). The Greyhounds had five other student-athletes qualify for the ECAC Championships. Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at right, was fourth in the long jump at 5.42 meters (17 feet, 9 1/2 inches) while senior Alyssa Wert was fifth in the 200-meter dash at 26.09 seconds. Junior Brittany Moses was seventh in the hammer throw at 43.88 meters (143 feet, 11 inches) while senior Shannon McEvoy and sophomore Nokukhanya Langa both qualified in the 100-meter hurdles with McEvoy finished ninth in 15.80 and Langa taking 11th in 16.09 seconds.

In other top ten track results, Wert, pictured at left, took ninth in the 100-meter dash in 12.82 seconds while sophomore Brittney Harvey was tenth in 12.88 seconds. Junior Kristina Ruggiero was ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:22.76 while junior Cadee Rockwell took sixth in the 1,500-meter run on 4:48.60.

In the field events, freshman Hilary Reis was tied for tenth in the high jump at 1.50 meters (four feet, 11 inches while junior Lauren Molchan took fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.09 meters (ten feet, 1 1/2 inches). Leonard was fourth in the triple jump at 10.88 meters (35 feet, 8 1/2 inches) while McEvoy took seventh at 10.23 meters (33 feet, 6 3/4 inches). Harvey was eighth in the long jump wth a leap of 5.14 meters (16 feet, 10 1/2 inches) while senior Kaleen Holden placed fourth in the javelin with a toss of 37.37 meters (122 feet, seven inches).

At 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Capital University – Tied for 11th of 57    Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team tied for 11th of 57 teams scoring points at the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Capital University. The Greyhounds scored 13 points while the University of Wisconsin-Osh Kosh won the meet with 46.5 points. Wartburg (IA) College was second with 44 points.

For the second straight year, Moravian is the home to the national champion in the pole vault in a new NCAA meet record. Junior Abigail Schaffer, pictured at right and left with assistant coach Mike Lawryk, won the pole vault with a height of 4.17 meters (13 feet, 8 1/4 inches), bettering the meet and school record set by Anna Heim '10 set at last year's national championship meet by one half of an inch. Schaffer cleared heights of 3.77, 3.87, 3.97 and the winning 4.17 meters on her first attempt while taking two attempts to clear 4.07 meters. Schaffer would have still won the national championship in the event at 4.07 meters as runner-up Karin Fisher from Massachusetts Institute of Technology needed all three attempts to clear 4.07 meters. Moravian's other two points on the second day of the meet came from sophomore Micah Leonard, who earned All-America honors for the second time in the championship as she placed seventh in the triple jump at 11.46 meters (37 feet, 7 1/4 inches). Leonard's longest distance came on her second of three jumps in the finals. In the preliminaries, Leonard, pictured at left, was fourth in her flight at seventh overall at 11.40 meters, which came on her second of the three preliminary jumps. Tanasia Hoffler from Williams College won the triple jump at 12.24 meters (40 feet, two inches). Leonard earned All-America honors in the long jump on the opening day of competition.

 

At 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships hosted by Capital University – Tied for 25th of 27 after First Day    Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team had one competitor on the opening day of the 2011 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships being hosted by Capital University. The Greyhounds are tied for 25th of 27 schools scoring on the opening day of competition with one point.

Sophomore Micah Leonard, competing at the NCAA Championships for the third time in her career, earned All-America Honors in the long jump for the third time and the second straight season indoors with an eighth place finish. Leonard recorded a distance of 5.42 meters (17 feet, 9 1/2 inches) on her third and final jump of the preliminaries, which tied for sixth after three jumped. Leonard was unable to better her distance in the three final round jumps.

Ashlynn Chavis of Methodist University won the long jump at 5.93 meters (19 feet, 5 1/2 inches). There was a delay in posting of the final results after a problem was discovered with the laser measuring device being used that ended up disallowing several NCAA meet records in the event.

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team finished in a tie for 13th place of 47 schools scoring a point at the 2011 ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by New York University at the New Balance Armory in New York City. The College of New Jersey won the meet with 58 points while Tufts University was second with 53.5 points and Buffalo State University finished third with 50 points. Moravian had 21 points in the meet.

Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, earned a point for the Greyhounds on the second day of competition with an 8th place finish in the mile run with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 5:03.95.  Rockwell also finished 19th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.46 while junior Kristina Ruggerio placed 15th in the race in 2:20.20.

In the field events for the women, sophomore Micah Leonard finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.33 meters (17 feet, six inches) to claim Moravian’s final three points.  Junior Brittany Moses took 21st in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.18 meters (43 feet, three inches).

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team is tied for 3rd of 30 teams scoring a point on the opening day of the 2011 ECAC Division III Championships being hosted by New York University at the New Balance Armory in New York City. The Greyhounds and Massachusetts Institute of Technology are tied with 17 points while Ramapo College of New Jersey is first with 37.5 points and Tufts University is second at 33 points.

Junior Abigail Schaffer, pictured at right, started off the meet with a runner-up finish in the pole vault, clearing an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying height of 4.12 meters (13 feet, 6 ¼ inches), the second highest in school history.  Schaffer, who was the defending champion in the event while competing for Widener University a year ago, bettered the previous meet record and tied Karin Fisher from MIT for the best vault in the nation this season.  Fisher won the event by needing fewer attempts to clear the height.  This marked the fourth time in five meets that Schaffer has cleared four meters, a mark that had only been cleared three times in NCAA Division III indoor history prior to the 2011 season.

In addition to Schaffer’s eight points, Moravian’s 4x200-meter relay team of senior Alyssa Wert, junior Lisa Williamson, sophomore Nokukhanya Langa and freshman Brigid Walker was sixth in a time of 1:46.57 to earn three points.  Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at left, placed fourth in the long jump with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying distance of 11.48 meters (37 feet, eight inches) to garner five points while junior Cadee Rockwell picked up one point with an eighth place finish in the 5,000-meter run in 17:31.16.

In other women’s events on the opening day, Langa finished 35th in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.02 seconds while junior Lauren Molchan was tied for 14th in the pole vault at 3.22 meters (ten feet, 6 ¾ inches).

At 2011 Landmark Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna University – 1st of 6    Moravian Individual Results        Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team captured its fourth straight Landmark Conference Championship winning the 2011 meet hosted by Susquehanna University. The Greyhounds, who won their fifth consecutive indoor conference title and 18th overall, scored 201.5 points while the host Crusaders were second at 121.5 points.

Junior Cadee Rockwell was named the 2011 Landmark Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Year while sophomore Micah Leonard was named the Landmark Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Year. Head coach Walt Wandall and his staff earned Co-Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Leonard, pictured at left, captured the triple jump with a meet record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 11.47 meters (37 feet, 7 3/4 inches), and she won the long jump with a meet record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying leap of 5.58 meters (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches). Leonard was also third in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.10 seconds.

Rockwell, pictured at right, won the mile run in a meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 5:09.67, and she captured the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 18:12.70. Senior Alyssa Wert won the 200-meter dash in 27.00 seconds while junior Kristina Ruggiero captured the 800-meter run in a meet record time of 2:22.95. Junior Lisa Williamson won the 55-meter dash in 7.69 seconds, and Williamson was part of Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad with Wert, sophomore Nokukhanya Langa and freshman Brigid Walker that won in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:48.58.

The Greyhounds final individual champion was junior Abigail Schaffer winning the pole vault with a meet record, NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying height of 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1 1/2 inches). Junior Lauren Molchan was the runner-up in the pole vault at 3.20 meters (ten feet, six inches) while freshman Amanda Smilgis was third at 3.05 meters (ten feet).

In other scoring field events, junior Brittany Moses, pictured at left, was second in the shot put with a toss of 10.94 meters (35 feet, 10 3/4 inches) while freshman Esther Lin placed third at 10.78 meters (35 feet, 4 1/2 inches). Senior Shannon McEvoy was third in the triple jump at 10.66 meters (34 feet, 11 3/4 inches), and she was third in the long jump with a leap of 4.87 meters (15 feet, 11 3/4 inches). Sophomore Brittney Harvey was fourth in the long jump with a distance of 4.86 meters (15 feet, 11 1/2 inches) while Moses finished third in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 12.80 meters (42 feet). Freshman Hilary Reis was third in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters (four feet, 9 3/4 inches) while sophomore Samantha Sheridan tied for sixth at 1.42 meters (four feet, 7 3/4 inches).

On the track, McEvoy was the runner-up in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.06 seconds. Wert took third in the 55-meter dash 7.70 seconds while Harvey was third in 7.75 seconds and Walker took sixth in 7.96 seconds. Williamson was the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.15 while Ruggiero was third at 1:03.64. Williamson was also second in the 200-meter dash in 27.46 seconds while Langa placed fourth in 27.74 seconds. Walker finished fifth in 27.75 seconds while Harvey placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 27.94 seconds.

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team competed in its final tune-up to the 2011 Landmark Conference Championships at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Indoor Open Saturday afternoon. The trip was the second of three straight to Selinsgrove for the Greyhounds.

Moravian had two first place finishes with junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, capturing the 800-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 2:21.03, and sophomore Brittney Harvey winning the long jump with a leap of 5.11 meters (16 feet, 9 1/4 inches).

The Greyhounds had several over top ten finishes with junior Kristina Ruggiero finishing third in the 800-meter run with an ECAC qualifying time of 2:22.60. Sophomore Nokukhanya Langa placed third in the 55-meter hurdles in an ECAC qualifying time of 8.92 seconds, and senior Shannon McEvoy took seventh in the prelimianries of the hurdles in 9.38 seconds. Langa was also tenth in the 200-meter dash in 27.91 seconds. The Greyhoudns 4x400-meter relay squad of Rockwell, Ruggerio, freshman Jennifer Smilgis and senior Mallory Gogins finished second in a time of 4:18.24.

In field events, McEvoy was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 10.13 meters (33 feet, three inches), and she was tenth in the long jump at 4.85 meters (15 feet, 11 inches). Freshman Amanda Smilgis was sixth in the pole vault, clearing 2.90 meters (nine feet, 6 1/4 inches).

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team competed at the non-scoring Susquehanna University Indoor Invitational in the team's second meet of the weekend. The Greyhounds had one first place finish with the 4x200-meter relay squad of junior Lisa Williamson, senior Alyssa Wert, sophomore Micah Leonard and freshman Brigid Walker winning the event in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:50.23.

Wert, pictured at right, also placed third in the 200-meter dash in 27.61 seconds, and she was fourth in the finals of the 55-meter dash in 7.78 seconds after running a time of 7.75 in the preliminaries. Sophmore Nokukhanya Langa took scond in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.15 seconds, and she was fifth in the 200-meter dash in 28.28 seconds and sixth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:05.12.

Sophomore Brittney Harvey was the runner-up in the long jump with a leap of 4.79 meters (15 feet, 8 3/4 inches) while sophomore Samantha Sheridan was tied for seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.37 meters (four feet, six inches). Harvey tied for tenth in the high jump at 1.32 meters (four feet, four inches). Freshman Esther Lin placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.76 meters (35 feet, 3 3/4 inches).

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team competed in the College non-scoring meet at the Lafayette College-Rider University Winter Games at the New York City Armory. The Greyhounds had three first place finishes, four ECAC qualifiers and a pair of NCAA Division III qualifying performances.

Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at right, won the triple jump with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 11.39 meters (37 feet, 4 1/2 inches), and she captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.45 meters (17 feet, 10 3/4 inches), just a quarter-of-an-inch shy of the NCAA qualifying mark. Junior Abigail Schaffer won the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying height of 4.00 meters (13 feet, 1 1/2 inches), the second straight week Schaffer has cleared four meters.

Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at left, posted an ECAC qualifying time of 5:08.06 in the mile run while placing third. Junior Kristina Ruggerio took fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:23.15 while Rockwell was seventh in 2:23.33. Freshman Brigid Walker was eighth in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.69 seconds. Rockwell, Ruggerio, junior Lisa Williamson and senior Alyssa Wert combined to finish fifth in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:15.97.

Junior Brittany Moses placed fifth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.83 meters (45 feet, 4 1/2 inches) while junior Lauren Molchan finished fifth in the pole vault at 3.15 meters (ten feet, four inches). Freshman Hilary Reis tied for ninth in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters (four feet, 11 inches).

 

At Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tri-Meet – 3rd of 3    Moravian Individual Results       Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team placed third of three regionally ranked teams at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tri-Meet. The Greyhounds, ranked third in the Mideast Region, had 42.5 points while host MIT, ranked second in the New England Region, placed first with 185.5 points, and Williams College, the top ranked team in the New England Region, was second with 139 points.

Moravian had two first place finishes, four ECAC qualifiers and one NCAA qualifier. Junior Abigail Schaffer captured the pole vault with an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying height of 4.05 meters (13 feet, 3 1/2 inches), the second woman in school history to clear four meters, while junior Lauren Molchan had an ECAC qualifying height of 3.20 meters (ten feet, six inches). Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 5,000-meter run in an ECAC qualifying time of 17:46.42 while sophomore Micah Leonard finished second in the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 10.91 meters (35 feet, 9 1/2 inches).

In top-six finishes on the track to score points for Moravian, senior Shannon McEvoy placed fifth in 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.07 seconds while junior Lisa Williamson took sixth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.79. Junior Kristina Ruggerio placed fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.40. Junior Megan Hallowell took sixth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 12:14.62 while sophomore Emma Pacheo was sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 21:56.90.

Leonard placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 4.95 meters (16 feet, three inches) while freshman Hilary Reis tied for sixth in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters (four feet, 9 3/4 inches). Junior Brittany Moses, pictured at left, was third in the shot put with a toss of 11.22 meters (36 feet, 9 3/4 inches), and she was the runner-up in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 13.52 meters (44 feet, 4 1/4 inches). Freshman Esther Lin took fifth in the shot put at 10.15 meters (33 feet, 3 3/4 inches) while senior Molly DuVall was fifth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 11.27 meters (36 feet, 11 3/4 inches).

At Thomson Invitational hosted by The University of Delaware – 3rd of 15 (DII/DIII)    Moravian Individual Results       Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team placed third of 15 NCAA Division II and Division III schools at the Thomson Invitational hosted by The University of Delaware. The Greyhounds were sixth of the overall 24 teams with 86.5 points with East Stroudsburg University capturing the DII/DIII meet. Moravian had five event winners in the meet and five ECAC qualifiers. Towson University had the top score with 193 points.

Junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at right, won the 800-meter run in a time of 2:23.79, and she captured the mile run in an ECAC qualifying time of 5:13.73. Sophomore Micah Leonard was also a double winner for the Greyhounds, capturing the long jump in an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.26 meters (17 feet, 3 1/4 inches) and winning the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying mark of 11.06 meters (36 feet, 3 1/2 inches). Junior Abigail Schaffer was Moravian's other first place finisher, capturing the pole vault in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 3.75 meters (12 feet, 3 1/2 inches). The Greyhounds' other ECAC qualifier was junior Brittany Moses with a fourth place in the 20-pound weight throw after an ECAC toss of 14.14 meters (46 feet, 4 3/4 inches).

Junior Lisa Williamson took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 27.73 seconds, and she was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.37 seconds. Senior Alyssa Wert, pictured at left, was seventh in the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.89 seconds. Junior Kristina Ruggiero was the runner-up to Rockwell in the 800-meter run in 2:25.70 while sophomore Nokukhanya Langa was ninth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.96 seconds. Senior Shannon McEvoy tied for tenth in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.97 seconds. Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Williamson, Ruggerio, Wert and freshman Jennifer Smilgis took sixth in a time of 4:31.62.

In other field results, junior Lauren Molchan was fourth in the pole vault, clearing 3.15 meters (ten feet, four inches) while freshman Hilary Reis took sixth in the high jump at 1.50 meters (four feet, 11 inches). Sophomore Brittany Harvey was sixth in the long jump at 4.75 meters (15 feet, seven inches) in her first action of the year.

At Mountain Hawk Multi & Invitational hosted by Lehigh University – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results       Complete Meet Results

The Moravian College women's indoor track & field team returned to action after a seven-week layoff by competing at the non-scoring Mountain Hawk Multi & Invitational hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds had a pair on individual champions with junior Abigail Schaffer winning the pole vault with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 3.70 meters (12 feet, 1 3/4 inches), and sophomore Micah Leonard capturing the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.00 meters (36 feet, 1 1/4 inches).

In other top ten field results, Leonard, pictured at right, was fifth in the long jump at an ECAC qualifying distance of 5.28 meters (17 feet, four inches) while junior Lauren Molchan was tenth in the pole vault at 3.10 meters (ten feet, two inches). Junior Brittany Moses finished seventh in the shot put with a toss of 10.47 meters (34 feet, 4 1/4 inches) while freshman Hilary Reis was tied for ninth in the high jump at 1.45 meters (four feet, nine inches).

On the track, junior Cadee Rockwell, pictured at left, finished third in the mile run with an ECAC qualifying tiumne of 5:16.29, and she was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:24.90. Senior Shannon McEvoy was sixth in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in 10.12 seconds, and she took fourth in the finals at 9.99 seconds. Junior Lisa Williamson was seventh in the preliminaries of thr 60-meter dash in 8.36 seconds, and she placed sixth in the finals in 8.48 seconds.

Freshman Brigid Walker was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 27.79 seconds while Williamson was fifth in 28.02 seconds and senior Alyssa Wert took eighth in 28.22 seconds. Freshman Jennifer Smilgis took eighth in the 500-meter dash in 1:32.11 while freshman Jennifer Parodi placed tenth in 1:33.02. Junior Megan Hallowell placed eighth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 21:55.84.

Moravian's 4x400-meter B relay team of Wert, junior Brooke DeNitzio, junior Kristina Ruggerio and freshman Amanda Smilgis took eighth in a time of 4:30.95 while the A squad of Williams, Parodi, Walker and Jennifer Smilgis was tenth in 4:40.74.

At Lehigh University Season Opener – No Team Scores    Moravian Individual Results       Complete Meet Results

Moravian began the 2010-11 season at the six-team, non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener. The Greyhounds had three individual first place finishes in the meet, one NCAA qualifier and five ECAC Division III qualifiers. Sophomore Micah Leonard, pictured at right, won the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.37 meters (17 feet, 7 1/2 inches), and she captured the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.04 meters (36 feet, 2 3/4 inches). Junior transfer Abby Schaffer won the pole vault with an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying height of 3.65 meters (11 feet, 11 3/4 inches).

Leonard also won her heat of the 200-meter dash and was seventh overall in 28.21 seconds while junior Lisa Williamson won her heat and was sixth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 28.12 seconds. Williamson also won her heat and placed fourth overall in the 60-meter dash in 8.28 seconds while freshman Bridgid Walker was sixth in the 60-meter dash in 8.39 seconds and tenth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.33 seconds. Sophomore Alyssa Wert was eighth in the 60-meter dash in 8.42 seconds, and she was ninth in the 200-meter dash in 28.26 seconds. Freshman Jackie Olmstead was seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.80 seconds while sophomore Samantha Sheridan was ninth in a time of 11.19 seconds.

Senior Rebekah Finn was second in the pole vault with an ECAC qualifying height of 3.35 meters (ten feet, 11 3/4 inches) while junior Lauren Molchan was fourth at a height of 3.20 meters (ten feet, six inches). Walker took fifth in the long jump with a leap of 4.75 meters (15 feet, seven inches). Junior Brittany Moses, pictured at left, was fourth in the 20-pound weight throw with a toss of 13.40 meters (43 feet, 11 3/4 inches), and she was eighth in the shot put with a distance of 9.70 meters (31 feet, ten inches). Freshman Esther Lin took tenth in the shot put at 9.59 meters (31 feet, 5 3/4 inches).
