Why did you choose to come to Moravian College?
I first learned of Moravian when I attended a track camp. After the camp I was recruited by the coaching staff who invited me to visit the school. During my visit I was captured by the small community atmosphere. All around Moravian had what I was looking for in a school.
What is your major (minor if applicable) at Moravian and how did you decide on it?
I am majoring in biochemistry. I originally came to Moravian wanting to major in chemistry with future aspirations of being a pharmacist, but I enjoyed my first biology class and decided to become a biochemistry major instead and broaden my future career potential.
What has been your favorite course at Moravian and why?
British Literature was my favorite class because I liked reading the many poems and short stories. They allowed me to escape the routine of college life and envision new and intriguing things.
What are your plans for the future once you finish your degree at Moravian?
Hit the lottery…I plan to pursue a career in pharmacology, with a quick pit stop in graduate school. I would like to enter a research field developing drugs to combat cancer.
What is your most memorable moment as a Greyhound?
At our 2008 indoor ECAC championships I competed in 5 events, with one being the pentathlon (5 events in itself). I placed first and helped the ladies team take first place in the meet overall.
How has being an athlete helped you as a student and in the classroom?
Same as most other student athletes, it has taught me how to budget my time, especially as a science major with multiple labs a week.
What advice do you have for a prospective Moravian College student-athlete?
Be dedicated to both your sport and your education. If you make every practice be sure to make every class also. I guess you could say your future depends on it.
