Update 1: April 30, 2009
On April 29th, the World Health Organization raised its pandemic alert to “5,” the second-highest level, warning of widespread human infection from the H1N1 Flu (Swine Flu) outbreak.
Although there have been no confirmed cases of H1N1 Flu in the state of Pennsylvania, we want to take reasonable precautions. Dr. Thomforde has appointed a H1N1 Flu committee comprised of Florence Kimball, chair, Dean of the Comenius Center; Gordon Weil, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the faculty; Frank Crouch, Vice President and Dean of the Seminary; and me. We are meeting regularly and reviewing the situation.
One of our first tasks will be to establish a site on AMOS where we can post information as it becomes available. We will also post information on the College website. We urge you to check AMOS when you have questions or concerns. Our plan is to maintain the site for the duration of this health outbreak, sending e-mails when appropriate to direct your attention to new developments.
At this point, there are no changes to any campus activities, class schedules, exam schedules, work schedules, commencement exercises, athletic events, or alumni reunion events. At this time, all trips will run as planned. We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation and update you if necessary.
We urge you to follow the prevention measures below and stay informed as this health concern unfolds.

Vice President for Student Affairs
