Faculty Recital - Jeepers Creepers! it will be An Affair to Remember A musical tribute to Harry Warren Pete Smyser, jazz guitar, leads an all-star quintet Pete Smyser, 7-string guitarist, will be joined by Larry McKenna, saxophone, Tom Lawton, piano, Madison Rast, bass, and Dan Monaghan, drums, in a concert to celebrate the timeless songs of composer Harry Warren (1893-1981). Granted, few recognize his name, but Harry Warren had more songs on the hit parade than Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, or any of the great American Songbook composers. In fact, at one point Warren had 24 CONSECUTIVE top ten hits and even wrote the song that became the very first gold record in history! This concert will be recorded for future CD release. Smyser's previous concert at Moravian (The Jerome Kern Concert) was released on CD in 2012 and rose to the top 50- in jazz radio play nationally for several weeks. $15 general admission / $10 seniors & students |
