Former Fugee Wyclef Jean to Perform at Moravian College - October 19

(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) - Moravian College will hold a special concert featuring Wyclef Jean on Saturday, October 19, 8 pm., in Johnston Hall. Jean's appearance at Moravian College comes on the heels of his highly acclaimed third solo album, "Masquerade." Jean is a former member of the Grammy award-winning, and multi-platinum selling rap group, the Fugees. Jean collaborated with Lauryn Hill to deliver a sophisticated brand of hip-hop that made the Fugees a top selling act in the 1990s.

Jean's latest record Masquerade (Columbia Records) contains the signature sound that launched the Fugees to fame. Jean's music is best described as a fusion of gritty hip-hop, reggae, and melodic pop-based rhythm and blues. With his latest release, Jean adds evocative eastern influences on some tracks. An Asian flute is looped over the prayerful song, "Peace God," and on the tile track, a violinist places a Middle Eastern flavor to familiar hip-hop lines.

Jean's talent goes beyond performing. He is also a producer, arranger, and composer who has also produced hit songs for other performers including Whitney Houston's "My Love is Your Love," and Santana's "Maria Maria." See Jean's official biography on his website: www.wyclef.com
