Moravian College to Celebrate Homecoming Weekend on October 17-18
2008 Greyhound Hall of Fame Inductees to be Honored
Bethlehem, Pa., September 30, 2008—Hundreds of Moravian alumni will return to their alma mater when the College holds the 2008 annual Homecoming Weekend from October 17 to October 18. The schedule of events includes the 17th Annual Rocco Calvo Invitational Alumni Golf Tournament, the Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony, the first 5th Quarter Reunion Party, a 5K run, and the Homecoming football game complete with tailgating activities.
The weekend begins with the Rocco Calvo Golf Tournament on Friday, October 17. Registration is at 8 a.m. and tee time is set for 9 a.m. at the Bethlehem Golf Club. On Friday night, the Hall of Fame Reception and Induction Ceremony will be held in Johnston Hall. The reception will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with the Induction Ceremony following. The 2008 inductees are Alan Heverly ’96, Douglas Durepo ’94, Thomas Ike ’90, and Vincent Seaman ’65, along with the 1975-1976 Men’s Basketball Team. The Herbstman Award Recipient is Joseph Hoffmeier, Jr. of the class of 1988.
Saturday will open with a 5K Run that will begin and end on the College’s campus. Registration is at 8 a.m. in the Haupert Union Building for the race at 9. The $20 fee benefits the Blue and Grey Club, and prizes will be awarded. Also, a continental breakfast will be held in the HUB from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by Coffee with President Thomforde at 10:15 a.m.
The College will hold a dedication of the H. Paty Eiffe Endowment Fund with a reception on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and a program at 11 in the Haupert Union Building. Visitors can view the Fourth Exhibition in the Annual H. Paty Eiffe Invitational Series, titled, “Eye Wish,” Art Work by Linda Ganus.
Kick-off time between the Moravian College Greyhounds and the Franklin and Marshall Diplomats will be at 1:00 p.m. at Steel Field. Alumni will have the opportunity to congregate and tailgate at the Locust Street Lot, just two blocks from the field. Tailgating will also include Kidsfest, featuring games, crafts, a moon bounce and a clown. Reservations are required to park in the tailgate area and are on a first come, first serve basis.
After the game, the classes of ’83, ’88, ’93, ’98, ’03 and ’08 can attend the 5th Quarter Reunion Party in the HUB Pavilion from 4 to 6. Along with reunion classes, all Moravian College soccer alumni are welcomed to attend the 5th Quarter reunion party. These classes will also have a designated area for tailgate in order to meet up with old classmates.
Other home athletic events on Saturday include a Women’s Soccer match against Susquehanna University at 12:30 p.m. followed by Men’s Soccer at 3 p.m.
