Fleetwood Area High School Wins Regional Science Competition at Moravian College

Whitehall-Coplay wins the Middle School Division

Bethlehem, Pa., March 13, 2009—Fleetwood Area High School edged out Allentown Central Catholic [second place] to take top honors in the regional Science Olympiad among participating area (Division C) high schools. Exeter Township Area High School took third place, Emmaus High School placed fourth, and Kutztown Area High School took fifth.

More than 500 students representing 41 junior/middle and senior high schools competed at Moravian College in a regional Science Olympiad on Friday, March 13, 2009. The top four Central eastern-area finishers among high schools and middle schools will go on to the state competition.      

Four middle schools are heading to the state competition, they include Whitehall-Coplay Area Middle School winning first, Kutztown Area Middle School in second place. Rounding out the middle schools moving on the state competition are Exeter Township Middle School third place winner, and East Hills Middle School which finished fourth.

Science Olympiad is an academic, interscholastic event culminating in regional, state, and national tournaments, designed to increase student interest in science, recognize outstanding student/teacher achievement, and improve the quality of science education.

The results become official on Wednesday, March 18 at noon.
