Biography
Dr. Jasper received his undergraduate degree from Macalester College and his masters and Ph.D. from the New School of Social Reseacrh. He has conducted ethnographic and archival research in India and among immigrant groups in the United States.
Recent Activities of Note
2009
- Daniel Jasper, assistant professor of sociology, and Virginia O'Connell, assistant professor of sociology, made presentations at the Eastern Sociological Association's Annual Meeting in Baltimore, in mid-March. Jasper's presentation, "Mutable History, Immutable Memory," was based upon his paper that addressed George Herbert Mead's ideas regarding the development of popular memory (and common sense understanding) through changing interpretations of history. O'Connell's "Profile of the 'Healthy' College Student: An Exploration of the Impact of Daily Routines on Illness Burden" presented her findings on the relationship between behaviors for the average college student and results of an illness profile.
