Bethlehem, Pa., September 26, 2007— Moravian College will hold a fall open house for high school sophomores and juniors on Saturday, October 13 and Saturday, October 27. The open house event provides an opportunity for a host of informative activities for students and their parents to explore from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the college.
Registration begins at 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in Johnston Hall, when staff, students, faculty, and coaches will be available to chat with prospective students and parents while enjoying a light breakfast. From 9:30 to 9:45 a.m. welcoming remarks will be delivered by Christopher Thomforde, president of Moravian College, Bernie Story, vice president for enrollment, and Lauren Smarkanic, assistant director of admissions.
Tours of the main campus, leaving from Johnston Hall from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., will be conducted by Twenty-Six Points student ambassadors. The walking tours will visit the Main Street Campus, dining halls, computer labs, athletic facilities, residence halls, and surrounding locations.
Moravian faculty will provide an overview of academic opportunities and the liberal arts curriculum from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m., in Johnston Hall. During the same timeline, the Admissions and Financial Aid offices will conduct a program in Prosser Auditorium, Haupert Union Building. Staff from both offices will be present to discuss the enrollment process. Information concerning early decision, scholarships, and other admission and financial aid opportunities will be addressed also. A repeat of these sessions is scheduled from 11:45 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. to provide the opportunity for parents and students to attend both presentations.
A light lunch at the Pavilion, Haupert Union Building, from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m., will allow a chance to mingle and chat with current Moravian students and the admissions staff. Visitors will also have the opportunity to head to one of the four athletic events as well. From 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Moravian shuttle services will be provided at the Haupert Union Building to explore Moravian’s art and music facilities in downtown Historic Bethlehem.
