Areas of Research and/or Expertise

Holding a doctorate in leadership with a specialization in human resource development, Dr. Desiderio’s teaching interests include Management & Organizational Theory, Organizational Behavior, Leadership, Sport Management, Marketing, and Human Resource Management. As per her current research is in the area of flow, finding happiness to optimize performance at work, organizational citizenship behavior, and social justice issues in HRD, she has been able to share her work to encourage the interests of students.

Biography

Katie P. Desiderio, Assistant Professor of Management, holds a MBA from Wilkes University and a Doctorate in the field of leadership with a specialization in human resource development (HRD) from Barry University. Her research is in the area of flow and finding happiness to optimize performance at work. She is also involved in research with fellow HRD scholars in the areas of performance, social and transitional justice issues in HRD, perceived leader behavior and organizational citizenship behavior. She is the advisor to several clubs on campus including the Economics & Business Club, Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority, and co-advisor to the student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). After working for several years in corporate marketing, Dr. Desiderio is excited to be able to share her knowledge and experience with students in a career where she has found the essence of embracing flow at work.
