Bethlehem, Pa., January 26, 2006— Chamber music ensemble Satori will perform its Sixth Annual Winter Concert at Moravian College on Saturday, February 4 in Foy Concert Hall.. Program highlights include a new commissioned work by Dr. Paul Salerni to celebrate the ensemble’s tenth anniversary and works by Dvorak, Giuliani, and Cesar Cui. The concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will be preceded by a lecture by Salerni at 7 p.m. After the concert a reception and silent auction will be held.
Satori consists of strings, woodwinds, and pianos and works to create chamber music awareness and appreciation. It is named for the Zen concept of forming a whole from separate parts. The ensemble’s repertoire extends from the baroque until the present. The group’s artistic director is flutist Nora Suggs, who has previously taught at Moravian College. Other Moravian faculty members involved with Satori include John Arnold, Adriana Linares, David Moulton, and Barbara Liebhaber.
Foy Concert Hall is located on the College’s Priscilla Payne Hurd Campus at the corner of Main and Church Streets in Bethlehem.
In the case of inclement weather, the activities will be postponed until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. Those with a Satori guest pass pay only $5, and those who donate a used band or orchestra instrument to Satori’s Gift of Music program receive free admission.
