WORKSHOP: Puppet Workshop

How the Puppet Experiences its World, or, Manipulating the Puppet with your Breath

This puppet workshop trains puppet performers in connecting their breath to the manipulation of puppets and objects. The puppet comes alive when it experiences the world in which it lives - a world that might be different from our own. Working with the breath gives the performer more freedom to let the puppet discover its world. It also opens door to improvisation and to the puppet's humanity.

This manipulation workshop will also touch on how actors and puppets interact onstage to create vital work and also address what theatrical situations are enhanced by the use of puppets.

Jeong Han Yun and Choon Hyang Yun - Installation in Paper
Husband and wife team Jeong Yun and Choon Yun have spent the past 20-years perfecting a technique for transforming paper into contemporary masterpieces that move the eye across a textural landscape that seems to replicate the rhythms of nature. The artist pair use ancient paper making traditions in the creation of their works -- large scale canvases, some with energetic movements of color and texture, and others with a whimsical pop-culture reference.
