Moravian to Celebrate Family and Homecoming Weekend on October 23-24

Bethlehem, Pa., October 16, 2009—Hundreds of Moravian alumni will return to their alma mater when the College holds the 2009 annual Family and Homecoming Weekend on October 23 and 24.  The schedule of events includes the 18th Annual Rocco Calvo Invitational Alumni Golf Tournament, the dedication of the HILL residence, the second 5th Quarter Reunion Party, and the Homecoming football game complete with tailgating activities.

The weekend begins with the Rocco Calvo Golf Tournament on Friday, October 23 when alumni and friends tee off at 9 a.m. at the Bethlehem Golf Club.  On Friday night, world-class jazz vocalist Lou Lanza, along with a premier team of jazz musicians, will present “Too Marvelous for Words: A Centennial Celebration of Johnny Mercer.”

Saturday will open with coffee and special interest sessions available in The Liberal Arts Tradition, Study Abroad 101 for Parents, and Alumni Career Panel.

Kick-off time between the Moravian College Greyhounds and the Juniata College Eagles will be at 1:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.  Alumni will have the opportunity to congregate and tailgate at the football practice field before the game.  Reservations are required. Other home athletic events on Saturday include a Women’s Field Hockey match against Susquehanna University at 1:00 p.m. at Betty Prince Field that will be a reunion of former players, coaches, and fans.

Saturday evening brings the Alumni Art Show Reception featuring the artwork of four alumni artists from the Class of 2001. Their work will be on display in the H. Paty Eiffe Gallery located in the Haupert Union Building.
