Career Center Preparing Students for Life After Moravian
Bethlehem, Pa., February 23, 2010—The Career Center at Moravian College is holding a number of programs in the coming weeks to prepare students for life after graduation and for finding jobs and internships in the current economy.
On February 25, Don Asher, national career expert and author, will present “Bound for Graduate School: Strategies to Gain Admission!” at 7 p.m. in Prosser Auditorium. In this program, he will discuss strategies for gaining admission to competitive programs, questions to ask before applying, what to do during the summer before applying, how the admissions decision is made, writing tricks that make a great essay, and do’s and don’ts at admission interviews. Asher’s book Graduate Admissions Essays is the best-selling graduate admissions guide, and his career-jumpstarting lectures and workshops have been given at colleges coast-to-coast.
The following week, the Career Center will host a “Going Green” Career and Internship Panel on March 2 at 11:30 a.m., featuring Moravian students and alum. It will give students the opportunity to learn firsthand from others who have recently completed internship experiences and from alums working in green professions. Attendees will learn about the Sustainability career field and how to make it happen and also have the chance to make contacts. This informative and interactive question and answer session will be in the Snyder Room of the HUB.
ESF (Education, Sports, Fun) Summer Camps will hold an information session on March 4 at 11:30 a.m. in PPHAC Room 116. ESF’s mission is to provide the finest camp experience for children through education, sports and fun so they can achieve their full potential and build self-confidence. ESF is looking for outstanding students committed to the development of each child to work at their many camp locations in PA, NJ, MD and CT. ESF is also the home to the Phillies Baseball Academy with opportunities at camps in Pa., N.J. and Delaware.
In addition, the Career Center provides constant opportunities for students searching for jobs and internships with the Career Hound System, where businesses can post job listings and view students’ resumes and students can apply directly online for full- and part-time jobs.
